Common Questions and Answers about Concerta stimulant

concerta

Avatar n tn t get high off it anymore, but desperately need to clean the house - my friend gave me an 18mg concerta. I've had them before and they let me get all the house work done. My question, is it okay to take with such a large amount of xanax? (This is out of harm reduction) Drugs.com says no interaction, but I just want to make sure. People have told me the xanax will kill the stimulant high, some others have said the stimulant will put you in withdrawal...
Avatar n tn Yes i'm on Concerta, which is for the ADHD i have, and it's a stimulant. I take 72 mg. of it. I don;t know whether it's that that's messing with my heart rate, or something else, but it'll take long to recover after exercise, it'll start racing sometimes when i'm sitting and a lot when i'm standing. Last night, i was leaning against the counter and i felt nauseous all of a sudden, short of breath, dizzy, and my heart was beating funny.
Avatar n tn I just started taking Concerta (36 mg) and I immediately developed shingles. My doctor swears it's a coincidence, but after seeing your post I can't help but wonder. I had chicken pox as a child, but I've never had shingles before now. What happened in your case? I went to the doctor today and got neurontin and valtrex, but the doctor told me to keep taking the Concerta. I don't know what to do.
Avatar n tn Is he taking 36mg plus 36 mg or 18mg plus 18mg?
Avatar m tn //www.rxlist.com/concerta-drug.htm). Note: if your child was already on a stimulant drug, then the dosage does change based on that experience. If the doctor started him out on the low dose and slowly moved him up, then this may be ok. If your child was not on a prior stimulant med, and the doctor started him out at 54mgs, I would ditch him as fast as possible (and consider a law suit)!
Avatar f tn I checked his eyes this morning before he took his Concerta pill and his eyes were still dialated, but not as badly as after he takes the Concerta. Should I take him to an eye doctor or should I discuss this with his psychiatist (who prescribes his Concerta) first?
Avatar n tn Talk to her docotor about trying another med such as Stratera (non-stimulant) or Metadate CD another type of stimulant. I have a friend with a boy who takes Metadate CD. They tried Concerta and it did not work for the school at all. He was very restless and hyper. At home he was fine at the end of the day. So, the way this boy's body metabolized the med was different and the benefit of the med was late in the afternoon. Metadate CD works better for this boy during school hours.
Avatar f tn My son who is 8 was taking concerta 36 mg but was having side effects such as sleep and eating problems, now we have him on Addreall xr and he is doing fantastic in school sleeping no problem but will not eat all day he dosen't even want breakfast in the morning, as a parent I know he needs the med for school but I am afraid of what no eating will do to his little body, is there any other drugs out there that has little or no symptoms, I feel at my witts end!
Avatar n tn I was prescribed Concerta 18mg by a psychiatrist. I am currently studying for the bar exam and have been taking one pill everyday (since May 17th). The bar exam is on July 24th-26th, 2017. I have never taken Concerta everyday for this long before, and I know that daily use is not encouraged. However, I feel that taking it daily would allow me to prepare for the exam to the best of my ability.
Avatar m tn Im a 16 yearold male that plays a ton of sports and works out a lot but I'm never hungry! Its really weird all my buddies eat a ton of food after our games and in general there always hungry! I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 160 pounds. I am starting to feel weak because I don't eat. Is it normal for me to feel like this? I'm currently on 105mg of concerta. Could the concerta be doing it to me?
Avatar n tn ve been told to see doctor and to ask for beta blockers or something. I take a stimulant for ADHD (Concerta 72 mg) and i don't want to change because the only one that's not a stimulant (Straterra) made me nauseaous and tired. I'm afraid to tell my mom about going to the doctor because i still want to be able to run cross country/track and do the stuff i like to do. I'm afraid it'll react wth Concerta and Singulair i take and i won't be able to take the concerta anymore.

Avatar n tn My daughter is 5 years old and has ADHD. She recently went on Concerta, multivitamins, then her PCP prescribed cetirizine as well for hay fever that I didn't even realize she had. A month later, the PCP scheduled a cardiology check for the Concerta meds; the pediatric cardiologist discovered my daughter had PACs. None of the other doctors/nurses noticed the arrhythmias on previous exams which surprised the cardiologist.
89592 tn?1391274422 He has ADHD with severe compulsivity, anxiety and possible ODD. He cannot take the stimulant meds anymore because of his high heart rate, mood swings and depression. Anyone know which workks better? Or is there a non stimilant that will work. He was on Concerta but that didnt work for him. I have been hearing about the ATTEND diet. Any ideas for my teen. Thank you for your replies.
Avatar f tn I started taking 18 mg of Concerta once daily about 2 weeks ago. Oddly I have noticed two things: 1) I can no longer have my daily/morning coffee without severe nausea (even the pharmacist didn't have it as one of his warnings). 2) Despite the fact that it keeps me awake to the point that daytime napping is not possible I still feel exhausted most of the time which doesn't make much sense to me. Has anyone had anything like either of these things happen while they were taking it?
Avatar f tn My 9 year old son has been on Concerta for about 3 years now and I am concerned whether it is true or a myth that ADD meds can stunt growth or slow down puberty process. Does anyone happen to know?
Avatar n tn my son has be on concerta for about 8 months. Yes he focus better but his grades are know different for 2 terms now. He also has been diagnosis, actually the first diagnosis was a learning disability. He also get awards showing compassion and caring etc. on and off meds. His teachers have loved him in their class from jk. He plays travel sports and gets award again on and off meds. O and yes he is very mean on and off meds with his sisters but calms down better on the meds.
Avatar f tn Hi folks, I took Concerta for 2 weeks and gave it up because of GI issues and a lot of facial twitching in addition to still having a lot of fatigue. I stopped taking it almost a week ago but I still have a remaining eye twitch that is driving me nuts. Now I'm thinking the current twitch is likely unrelated to Concerta and may be MS related. If so, it is a new symptom for me and like most MS symptoms, I need relief. Has anyone had any success getting rid of the twitches?
Avatar m tn It is a central nervous system stimulant and is released through out the day. Sounds like the effects of the Concerta wearing off towards the end of the day? Have you talked to her Dr about how she is responding at home? I will give you a link that I use often for drugs on ADHD and Cancer. It's very user friendly and they keep it very simple to get around. This is the specific page for Concerta's side effects. http://www.pharmacydrugguide.
Avatar f tn Is he more aggressive since he started the Concerta? If so, tell the psychiatrist, Ritalin is a stimulant drug and stimulants make bipolar worse. It sounds like a REALLY tough situation and it sounds like he is not very stable mood-wise. Try to remember he has two illnesses. Also try not to beat yourself up if you lose it. Also, sometimes men just step back,I'm sorry you are not feeling supported. We are here if you need us!!
1756969 tn?1332437163 wondering if anyone has tried concerta for their adhd? i was on a few meds a few years ago but stopped taking them because nothing seemed to work. i am about to try going back on concerta 36mg and see if it will help. i also have depression and am starting a new med called celexa. any info will help. thanks!! not sure what i should be looking for in healthy changes.
Avatar f tn Strattera is a non stimulant med used for ADHD. Whether or not it would be effective for you, I don't know. This site lists almost all possible treatment options. Although for some reason, I couldn't find Strattera listed, so you need to google that. The site is http://www.healing-arts.org/children/ADHD/medications.htm And the following site also lists (with info) non stimulant meds (they do mention strattera). http://www.baltimorepsych.com/NonStimulants.
Avatar f tn After trying a few medications, his doctor chose Concerta as his daily medicine. It seemed to help a little with his so called "hyper" behavior. However, the doctor has increased the dosage a few times and my son is now taking 54mg.
Avatar n tn My son had that saem issue with Concerta and he was bigger and on a lower dose. SOmetimes they will give a short acting low dose stimulant to get through this period. My son took 2.5 mg of Focalin at around 4 pm, and it helped tremendously. He now takes Focalin XR instead of Concerta becasue when he hit puberty he started having major issues with Concerta.
