Avatar f tn You might want to talk to your doc about reducing your anti anxiety medication. Do you have the same doc for both the concerta and the effexor? Note, Concerta should last about 8 hours while the Vyvannse could go 10 to 12 hours. Also Concerta is a Methylphenidate, while Vyvannse is an Adderall based med and is stronger. You might want to try the Vyvannse again, but increase the dose slower.
Avatar f tn Methylphenidate may be habit-forming and should be used only by the person it was prescribed for. Concerta should never be shared with another person, especially someone who has a history of drug abuse or addiction. Keep the medication in a secure place where others cannot get to it. What should I discuss with my healthcare provider before taking Concerta?
Avatar f tn He additionally was put on Prozac about a year ago for anxiety as he was chewing the skin off his fingers until they would bleed and chew huge blisters on his lips. Three weeks ago, the Psychiatrist added in Intuniv...OH MY GOSH...the Concerta and Intuniv were PERFECT....Great days at school and an amazing kid emerged...Then at the end of two weeks he developed a tic...This was so horrible...They were happening about 12 - 16 per minute.
Avatar f tn Are you on any other meds for the bipolar, or anxiety? Sometimes, there can be interactions between the stim meds and the other meds. Main ones with problems are Prozac and Paxil. Yes, you should tell your doctor what is going on. Those are signs of an overdose. I would also ask about switching or trying an Adderall based med. They are stronger then the methylphenidate based Concerta.
Avatar n tn Yes i'm on Concerta, which is for the ADHD i have, and it's a stimulant. I take 72 mg. of it. I don;t know whether it's that that's messing with my heart rate, or something else, but it'll take long to recover after exercise, it'll start racing sometimes when i'm sitting and a lot when i'm standing. Last night, i was leaning against the counter and i felt nauseous all of a sudden, short of breath, dizzy, and my heart was beating funny.
Avatar n tn My son has ADHD, complex tic disorder, and ODD as well as gluten and casein intolerance, hypothyroidism, and we had a peds neurologist doing all his med adjusting. He is 10 and on Concerta 54 mg (for last almost 3 years) and Zoloft 100 mg and Intuniv 2 mg and recently Risperdal 0.25 mg every am and 0.5 mg q pm. The neurologist wanted to add another med Abilify on board as he was still having some outburst behavior. I find this troubling that he wants my child on 5 psychoactive meds.
Avatar m tn I have been going to the same psychiatrist for over 5 years and have been recently given Concerta about 4 months ago. My original diagnosis was depression/anxiety disorder and he believes I have a learning disability. During this time, the Concerta dose moved up 3 times and was given a new script. Some of these scripts were turned in during the same month. The doctor added on ritalin on a separate script one month.
Avatar n tn now if you take like 2mg xanax and 72mg Concerta and feel focused, motivated without anxiety f.e. that is sweet spot but a small ammount of alprazolam will overpower MPH and if it does you will need literally half bottle of Concerta, this is my experience and I say for mayority of other reports that i red in last 2 years so you are safe but take 1mg xanax more and no cleaning...
Avatar m tn Like I mentioned earlier I am on my almost 3rd week of taking concerta and i hate it. I still don’t know if I am adhd but I am having the same problems as I did with the vyvanse. Severe headache and pain in between my shoulder blades. I have had a full cardio workout and I am 44 in good health and have no other problems than Hashimotos which I am not yet taking meds for when this is all over. Can someone please help??
Avatar n tn My 9 yr. old little girl has been on 18Mg of Concerta, with some success. The Dr. prescribed 5 mg. of aderall along with the Concerta, that has also had proven results for us. The Dr. now says to increase the Aderall to 10mg. so we did that today. She is now on 18mg of Concerta and 10mg of Aderall. What can we expect from this increase and is this combination to high of a doseafge for a 70 puond 9 yr. old.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the responses! All I did was a google search for how long concerta stays in the system and it was the first thing they popped up. I am new to this so I do not have the experience you do and I know you can’t believe everything you read online. There is just a very delicate dance between my thyroid and taking testosterone that I am working through and I think adding these meds that I am on added gas to the fire. Bad mistake.
Avatar n tn the concerta acts is a CNS stimulant, and over-stimulation of the CNS results in anxiety/panic disorder. i've taken lexapro for anxiety, and among all the SSRI's i've ever taken, lexapro helped me the most for anxiety. maybe stick it out with the lexapro for a little longer to see if your condition improves.
Avatar n tn Great to hear it helped you.SSRI's can indeed help with anxiety.
1575110 tn?1334664635 Hello, I also have adult ADD and I have tried both Concerta and Vyvanse. My doctor wanted me to try Concerta for a few weeks and I didn't like it at all. It didn't agree with me. It made it feel depressed and NOT motivated to do everyday things. I was on a 36 mg dose and when I went back to my doctor I told him I hated it. He mentioned that there is a new medication called Vyvanse and asked if I would like to try it. With nothing to lose, I said yes. I do like Vyvanse.
Avatar f tn mutlivitamins and still prozac which is cut down from 10mg to 5mg to wean him off, he was on concerta 36mg for adhd, clonidine .1mg to help with sleep and prozac10mg to combat severe side effects, then after starting prozac. he was chewing on the inside of his lower lip so bad, 2 weeks later and he now has two scars..
Avatar f tn t entirely sure why but felt ADHD was a part of it. The treatment (Concerta) has helped, but I can still see a lot of anxiety breaking through and creating tension/anger/disruption. I'm not sure where to go with this. I will have to check out that book.
Avatar n tn ve been told to see doctor and to ask for beta blockers or something. I take a stimulant for ADHD (Concerta 72 mg) and i don't want to change because the only one that's not a stimulant (Straterra) made me nauseaous and tired. I'm afraid to tell my mom about going to the doctor because i still want to be able to run cross country/track and do the stuff i like to do. I'm afraid it'll react wth Concerta and Singulair i take and i won't be able to take the concerta anymore.
Avatar n tn Concerta and Trileptal are for ADHD and Mood Stabilizers usually for Anxiety yes. The Prevacid is a stomach acid reducer. Geodan is a bipolar medication. Depending on how long he has been on them, he may have an allergic reaction. Id research.
Avatar n tn my 8 yr old is on concerta 27mg she has been on it for a month and just started complaing about her chest feeling like it was so tight she cant breath and her heart herts when her chest tightens...the nurse said give her tylnole and take her to her doctor in the morning not to give her her pill ..is she going to be alright we had a really bad experiance with the vyvance and the folcolin i cant let my baby go threw that again...how can i help her in school and not hert her while doing so?...
Avatar f tn Concerta is almost identical to Ritalin.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult a few years ago, and started taking concerta to help me focus in college. I stopped taking it for a while, and about a month ago, went back on the concerta. I take 36mg of extended release in the mornings when I have class or homework to do, and it does help me focus. However, since going back on it, I've noticed that I sometimes can't grasp words. Like I know what I'm talking about/trying to say, but I can't place a word with it.
Avatar n tn I've been taking 18 mg of concerta for 16 years and it's been a great help to me! (I briefly tried another time released stimulant and it didn't work for me.) Going on and off it can be very distruptive though-- it is best to stay consistent with it. When I'm going back on it after a break, I tend to lose my appetite and have more trouble sleeping. I recommend taking it after breakfast at the same time every morning...
Avatar f tn My son just started Effexor and only a small dose of 37.5 mg for anxiety and worry and hx of headaches. He is 18 and has ADHD too. He has had severe insomnia since starting this and is supposed to go up to double the dose after 7 days. Is this normal during the inital phase? what is the best anti anxiety med for an 18 you male?
