Concerta twice a day

Common Questions and Answers about Concerta twice a day

concerta

Avatar f tn m taking Concerta (36 mg- twice per day), Tecfidera (240 mg twice per day) and Brintellix (10 mg). I have no appetite and when I eat everything tastes awful. Concerta and Brintellux are more effective for me versus Modnafinil and Cymbalta. However, I can't afford to lose anymore weight. Additionally, I'm only sleeping about 3 hours per night due to trips to the restroom. Do you know which of these meds is likely to negatively impact the appetite?
Avatar m tn Dude, are you sure you are on 105mgs of Concerta. That is a huge dose! Or are you taking the med twice a day when it is only meant to be taken once a day? And yes, it does restrict the appetite. You need to have a really big breakfast before the med kicks in. Then for after school have protein bars or protein drinks that can be easily eaten (whether you are hungry or not). but mainly, let me know about that dose. The max is listed as 54mgs once a day.
Avatar f tn The last refill was 200$ for 30 27mg tabs. My daughter has a 6.67 dollar a day habit. Unfortunately the stuff works so I have no choice but to get it. We tried just ritalin for a month and her grades took a huge dive. Not worth it. Anyway, concerta looses their patient this year so I am looking for a genaric to come out. Best of luck.
1756970 tn?1314376733 Geeeze, I feel for you. My only thought is that typically the meds have a very constant effect on you. It shouldn't all of a sudden do what is happening to you - unless you forgot you took the med and then doubled up- (but even then, I'm not sure that would be the response. I would definitely take a look at any recent stress factors. It sounds like you are a strong person. You can suppress stuff for only so long and then it kind of builds up and finally you feel the effects.
Avatar n tn Sometimes when I have palpitations I can feel both beats of the heart thinking that it is beating twice as fast as it really is. 120 bpm is twice a second. If you can imagine how fast a second is, then your heart rate at 137 is twice, or slightly more that 2 times a second.. Just something to consider if your sitting on the couch relaxing and taking your pulse.
Avatar n tn Hi...I have never heard of that med, but in research see it is used for reflux and gerd jut like the meds I am aware of. The dr will RX meds for the mgs and dosage ( times per day) per ur symptoms and how much healing u need.....I am on a gerd med and take it twice a day..... If u also modify ur diet and lifestyle u may heal a bit faster and be able to cut back on teh dosage faster.
Avatar f tn name=CONCERTA As always, if this remains a problem do ask your doctor. Seizures are typically only a problem if one has a prior or family history of them. But they are nothing to be ignored! So its certainly worth mentioning this to your doctor. Best wishes. Let us know what the doc has to say so others can also learn!
Avatar n tn The first one is that every once in a while I do not give her the medication for a day or two. When she is NOT on her medication I see such a difference in everything about her. She eats so much. She says really rude things and is very hyper and disrespectful. Our family also sees a difference in her behavior. She is even hard to tolerate at times. I want to know why is she only tolerable when she is medicated? How long will she have to be on this medicine.
Avatar f tn my child only takes one 36mg concerta tablets of a morning and lasts all day the recommended dosage is 1mg per kilogram the dosage you have stated there your child must weigh roughly 72kilograms???????? whick i doubt. that dosage worries me. Its not a easy road.
1031310 tn?1259857386 because, you want to make sure that you know the people your son are being left with for any period of time, even if it is in a church situation. In a church you have gone to for a long time, leaving your son with the teachers or day-care people at sunday school is fine because you know and trust the community... but at a new church, it probably isn't something that is safe until you trust everyone at the church.
Avatar m tn So, I think something else must be going wrong because I could never fall asleep during the day after taking Concerta, no matter how tired I got or how sleepy I felt. I want to go to a doctor to ask for some tests but I want to know which ones. I used to get tests done on regular basis in UK and more often than not there was always something wrong: low testosterone, Vitamin D deficiency, abnormally high liver enzymes (fatty liver syndrome although I am not fat), etc.
Avatar m tn ve been prescribed a generic version of adderall 10mg once a day. From what I read this is amphetamine. My prescription ran out and I used a concerta my concern is if I have a urine test or hair follicle test will the methylphenidate in the concerta show up? Concerta is not my prescribed medicine.
982251 tn?1248781387 I am not a doctor, but my son was also on concerta, and that can be a side effect of that. We had success switching him to Straterra, out of everything he's tried that has the least side effects, and it's once a day, dosing is based on weight, and even adults take it who have adult add. Look up drug side effects for concerta. Maybe changing the medication might help, and it does take some time for the medication and there side effects to clear their system.
Avatar f tn 12 to 14 hours for Vyvanse and 8 to 10 for Concerta. Thats very close to all day coverage and not necessary. Second, they are of two different chemical classes. Concerta is a methylphenidate based medicine, while Vyvanse is an amphetamine based med. Usually you go to an amphetamine based because your methylphenidate is not working for you. The only possible reason I can think of to take both would be to turn off your mind at night so you could go to sleep and stay asleep.
Avatar f tn So, it is reported that it begins working fast in the morning and continues to control symptoms during the day and then tapers off at hours 10 to 12. Concerta may have a slightly better effect in those last two hours but less of an effect early on in the day after taking it. Both have a pretty similar side effect profile and you are familiar with these from your child's current medication.
Avatar m tn During this time, the Concerta dose moved up 3 times and was given a new script. Some of these scripts were turned in during the same month. The doctor added on ritalin on a separate script one month. I have turned in these prescriptions mostly to the same pharmacy, but when at Walmart I have turned them in there. When turning in my last prescription, the pharmacist stated she would not fill out the script because I have gone to Walmart and my prescription has been given to me too early.
Avatar f tn I started taking 18 mg of Concerta once daily about 2 weeks ago. Oddly I have noticed two things: 1) I can no longer have my daily/morning coffee without severe nausea (even the pharmacist didn't have it as one of his warnings). 2) Despite the fact that it keeps me awake to the point that daytime napping is not possible I still feel exhausted most of the time which doesn't make much sense to me. Has anyone had anything like either of these things happen while they were taking it?
Avatar n tn My girls are also on Concerta 36mg, and have a smaller appetite on their meds. Over time they have adjusted and started eating better, and sometimes I try to sort of talk them into eating like 5 bites of everything on their plate even if they arent hungry. I explain to them that if they dont eat they will end up sick and in the hospital. I have not had as much trouble the past few months though. Also, my youngest had Clonadine (sp?) added to her meds. She takes one pill that is .01 or .
Avatar n tn I started taking 20mg a day of the stuff before school, instead of my usual 36mg of Concerta. At first, i felt amazingggg!! I still had the focus affects of the Concerta, but i was much more talkative and happier. Now, it has been about a month since i started taking the drug and i feel like something is wrong. Around three o clock (when the pill wears off) I feel very aggitated and moody. At night i have recently been feeling very depressed and sad...
Avatar f tn Hi folks, I took Concerta for 2 weeks and gave it up because of GI issues and a lot of facial twitching in addition to still having a lot of fatigue. I stopped taking it almost a week ago but I still have a remaining eye twitch that is driving me nuts. Now I'm thinking the current twitch is likely unrelated to Concerta and may be MS related. If so, it is a new symptom for me and like most MS symptoms, I need relief. Has anyone had any success getting rid of the twitches?
Avatar f tn I was taking Lamictal 100mg,Abilify do not remember how much and 18mg a day of concerta a few years ago and I found that when it was my time to take te abilify I was so tired, so my Dr. told me to take it at night before I went to bed and then I noticed weight gain from it and I stopped taking the meds all togther and lost the weight but felt horrible mentally and emotionally, so 6monts ago, I went back to the DR.
5757880 tn?1395578022 Double checked the dosage, and its fairly high for his age, so not changing is probably a good idea. Any of these problems start occurring after the change to Concerta? Any idea why doc switched from Vyvansse (the med you last mentioned) to Concerta? Do read up on SPD and don't be afraid to post to Specialmom. Her own son has SPD and is only a few years older than your son.
1756970 tn?1314376733 i want to know could it be an side effect of the concerta? i also had a few panic attacks and i have never had one of them. i also had some mania feelings. like the energizer bunny. my brain wouldnt slow down and my body was like pumping. today i have energy and organized. yesterday, i was in like a melt down mode. my brain again was foggy, tired and all i wanted to do was sleep. ugh!!! any advice!!
