Common Questions and Answers about Compulsive hoarders questions

hoarders

Avatar f tn Was watching one of those sort of horridly-fascinating shows last night on TV that is about hoarders, except this one is about pet hoarders. They visited a couple's house who had 24 cats. The vet who was talking to the couple and she went into the room where the catboxes were, and commented on the smell, and she had handheld meter that she set down on the floor. It measured ammonia in the air.
Avatar f tn So.... my husband's parents are hoarders and I've never been to their house but our daughter has. She's 3 years old. We have a little boy on the way and I just don't know if I want my kids going over there especially if I'm not allowed to.. Idk how bad the situation is and I know my husband is embarrassed. I've never talked to my in laws about it. They make me uncomfortable as is. I have been distant from them for the last couple months.
Avatar n tn t want to accuse you of compulsive posting questions if that was not what you were doing, but you have posted similar questions in different communities. Gotten similar answers and still are not satisfied. You will have to wait for your results. What else do you want to hear? No one is going to say they think you have herpes when what you are describing is not typical of the virus.
Avatar f tn Thank you very much Dr for your time
662972 tn?1270166301 She has 26 animals 11 outside big unfriendly dogs that only she can interact with which is ok, 6 inside little dogs and 6 or7 inside cats now she lives in older 2 bedrroom 2 bath trailer which is fine but once you walk in door all you smell is cat pi$$ awful and her house is a plum mess something you would see on tv hoarders that bad. She loves her animals and takes care them but not house.
Avatar f tn Hi! I just want to see I don't take part in any type of aftercare/groups & I'm just fine. If you have any questions from someone who doesn't go to group meetings, feel free to message me anytime!
Avatar n tn Thank you ojsam. :) I hope your wife has got over her stigma that she grew up with and is now enjoying having a loving and pleasurable intimate relationship with you. I wish you a long a happy marriage. Best wishes.
19154367 tn?1473131580 I was diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder in eighth grade, and have constant axiety about what others think of my head and face. My questions are; is there an operation I can undergo to fix my skull/face, and, is this an example of negligance on behalf of the doctors?

Avatar f tn My granddaughter has been diagonised with ADHD and her meds have improved her school work dramtically. She is 9. For 1-2 years she has been a compulsive liar and in the past several months she has been taking money from her parents and denying it. Can this be part of the ADHD? I also question whether compulsive lying or pathological lying is genetic. Her biological father had ADHD and was the biggest liar I ever new (in and out of jail).
Avatar f tn But me I would just go to a family members and stay there for a bit. Hoarders have a weird attachment to their items.

Avatar n tn Where do you start to get help ? My daughter has the same problem.
Avatar f tn Many cats lick excessively as a compulsive disorder and we feel it is because they were weaned off of their mother's milk too soon. The suckling and licking that a cat does releases "feel good" hormones called endorphins and essentially calm the cat down. It is like a young child sucking their thumb when they're upset.
Avatar m tn its not a questions than rather its a recommendation please visit this page and ull know the true answers http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn As the mood swings passed, all the other things have become less. Anxiety is normal, so is stress and getting compulsive about something you are into. Add intense moods to feed those things and it appears there is more than one issue. I have come to learn that all my mental issues are BP1. Not that you are the same, my point is, I had a therapist/doctor team to help me see the real issues, not just throw meds at me for symptoms.
Avatar m tn Well, I'm starting a new thread for compulsive staring. I'll start with my symptoms. Around junior year of high school, I started to stare at private parts of both men and female. I'm sure this has to everything with OCD. I don't feel any pleasure from doing it...it is sort of now automatic. It has ruined so many relationships...I don't have any friends because of it. I've been to a psychiatrist which prescribed Lexapro, Zoloft, Risperidone...none have helped.
Avatar n tn I am a compulsive liar. I dont know if there are different stages of lying but if there is I am near the top. I lie about my friends family, health and even my past. I had my 2 year boyfriend thinking I was a totally different person. I feel bad when I do it but at the same time I often do not even realize I am doing it until after its done. He knows I lie and I am trying to tell him the truth now but I still lie about things.
Avatar n tn ) It might seem compulsive but I just liked doing it. I used to count tiles in the bathroom (still do that sometimes) including half tiles and part tiles (because of course, three part tiles make a whole tile!) and also how many knobs on the dresser drawers...it just filled up otherwise empty space in my thoughts-say if I was just doing nothing else. Maybe that sounds strange but it wasn't something I had to do, it was just something I sometimes did for fun. Well, it entertained me!
Avatar f tn I don't know if this is really OCD or not, but it's compulsive. Sometimes I'll be in a room and I can either hear or I know a person is coming. Then I'll start freaking out and I want to hide from them and have them find me. If they come in before I can hide I'll feel like crying severely. But this only happens once about every 2 months. Is this a symptom of OCD, or are these "episodes" too far apart?
