compare flomax and rapaflo

I will be on a alpha blocker (rapaflo, similar to flomax) for several days prior to stent removal. It is supposed to relax the ureter. Will rapaflo prevent the severe pain or just not make it last as long? Not sure what expectations are for this medication.

I saw my urologist he other day and she said that she now like Rapaflo (slidosin) more than Flomax (tamsulosin) for urinary hesitancy. Both are designed to address benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). I know the primary audience is men, but there are women who take tamsulosin for urinary hesitancy. I was taking the max dose of tamsulosin, .8mg/day. I'm now taking 8mg Rapaflo/day. I'm told that it will take 4-5 days to see the full benefit if Rapaflo and I'm now on day 3.

m also not a doctor, but do take Rapaflo which I much preferred over Flomax (only occasional minor headaches vs. more constant ones, & almost no sinus congestion vs. significant congestion). I see some confusion by many over the "retrograde ejaculation" talked about by many. True retrograde ejaculation is when the semen is diverted into the bladder rather than being expelled out thru the penis. It can usually be identified by a modest foaming in the urine after the event.

I was givin medcations obviously with no improvement and after the medications he decided he wanted to give me a prostate massage And rapaflo. The prostate massage was very painful and I noiced a pinching sting at the tip of my penis durring it that still comes and flies to this day.

I was sent to a urologist to look into this who gave me rapaflo, scheduled MRIs of my Lumbosacral spine as well as SI Joints, sacrum, and coccyx, and had me do a cystoscopy in the beginning of october. The MRIs came back clear (no focal abnormalities within pelvis incl sacroiliac joints, sacrum, and coccyx) (lumbar, normal alignments, vertebral body heights and disc spaces maintained, no abnormal marrow signal is evident, no abnormal cord signal is seen.

Saw my primary MD today. He said that the Flomax relaxes muscles in the bladder and prostate, and the Avodart shrinks the prostate. He said that after a year or so, if the prostate has gone down and reduced the problems, they like to eliminate the Flomax, as it is no longer necessary. Long story short, I now have a prescription for Avodart alone. I realize that it may not reduce the surgery risk, but one less drug is a good thing.

All negative. Urologist thought it could prostatitis. He put me on Rapaflo and it took care of that problem then. Now since last 10 days, I am getting pain and tingling on penis shaft. using Rapaflo again now. pain in pelvic region reduced a lot but the penis pain is still there. don't know what is the cause of this problem. My PSA test result shows 0.8. I have a teenager and busy at work. getting depressed with this issue.

My doctors are a little slow in telling me what high blood medications I can take with visteris (the 3rd drug after interferon and ribovarin) and what bph (enlarged prostate) med i can take. my hep doctor insists I can't take rapaflow (bph) or amlodopine (high blood pressure). I'm 68 years old and have had Cataracts for over 2 years. I've been taking Avodart for over a year. Should I stop taking Avodart and wait awhile before cataract surgery or will the informed Dr be able to work with my eyes? I've never taken Flomax and have heard the warnings from the commercial and read about Flomax. I'm concerned about any complications. I'm also pretty active. Can I still swim after surgery and what are the chances of the lens shifting or coming loose?

Are you taking Flomax for prostate issues? Flomax works by relaxing the muscles in the bladder and prostate, which leads to improved flow of urine and fewer symptoms of BPH. I am 77 years old and have been taking Flomax for about 2 years. I have had cool thermo therapy for enlarged prostrate about 2 years ago. Unrination is really no problem anymore, but I have a problem with getting erections and now when I ejaculate I have no semon in me. I was given cipro and Flomax for pelvic pain and a UTI. the pain was through the whole pelvis and also individual veins or spermatic cord. does Flomax permanently shrink your prostate or reduce testosterone levels? I read one forum where people where saying they had a permanent loss of strength, could not throw the discus as far?

I stopped, and when the urinary issues seemed to be more problematic again, I returned to the added Flomax, and immediately discovered the same lack of semen and abdominal pain (during the 2 months not taking Flomax, ejaculatory function returned to normal). My question (after all that build up) is are any other men here on Flomax combined with Detrol LA? And, if so, has anyone had the same experiences that I previously explained?

Hi Dr. Santos. I want to thank you for ur response. I first went to a hospital, cas of my severe cluster headaches. I brought my brother up from California, so he could see my suffering. These clusters seemed to be more severe than my past ones? What happenned first, was i went to a local hosp., & they insisted on injecting me with what they said would stop my re-bound clusters. I told them, i was now fine, cas the headache went away.

I read a question that a person was taking flomax and found he had dry ejaculation, just wanted to confirm it. I have been prescribe flomax.

I've heard taking Flomax and hour or 2 before will soften the prostate and allow the antibiotic to better penetrate the prostate? t seem to be a great drug since it lowers blood pressure too much, I almost fainted on losartan and flomax. Is it true it permenently exhausts you and causes muscle weakness?

yes it is but the price is about 50-100usd per month instead of about 700-1000usd per month since there is so much competition of many brands in india so drug makers can t make same prices and must adapt to local market prices baraclude lost patent recently so another brand from israel may be available worldwide soon of course at much cheaper price

I don't think it's a good drug, I have normal BP and it lowered my BP 10 points. does flomax cause exhaustion and permanent tiredness like one forum says?
