I have been using Combivent for about a month together with Asmanex to treat my cough-variant asthma and have had pretty good results. However, the first inhalation of Combivent always triggers a major coughing spell (sometimes it's so severe I almost vomit or my ribs hurt). Are there other bronchodilators that might be easier to inhale and still be effective? Or would using a nebulizer help? I've heard there can be adverse side effects with a nebulizer.
Does anyone know if an inhaler ( I use combivent) can aggravte PACS and PVCS? I had breakfast this morning and then used my inhalers and my heart started doing some weird pvcs and pacs anyone else ever have this happen?
Yes, it feels like I don't need the combivent regimen since I started the flovent.
I use the combivent mainly before exercise with 02. . Unfortunately my insurance is minimal
and I only get to see my pullmanary doctor who proscribes these meds, once every
six months. Next I see him I will have a list of questions; partial derived from the
excellent discussions on this board. Thanks to all for these discussions.

ve recently had an asthma attack due to spring pollen and other related environmental condition that increase during this season. I take a Combivent inhaler as a rescue treatment for my asthma. The problem at this point is that is a provides short relief and has choked me to the point of passing out. Could you please tell me what is causing this reaction. What would be a better method and inhaler.

Advair and Spiriva is a common combination of meds for COPD patients. However, you should also have a rescue inhlaer containing some form of albuterol. Combivent is another option used by many COPD patients. It contains albuterol and ipatropium. Combivent may be off the market in the US though as the EPA has banned the use of CFC's propelants in inhalers. I don't think they were able to reformulate this medication to fit these new laws.
recently diagnosed with COPD/emphysema. hospitalized three times: finally determined that i'm allergic to sulfate based albuterol, combivent, all of the usual "suspects." i'm now on advair (one week= 115 ) and doing okay - except the only rescue inhaler i can tolerate is primotene mist. just took an oximeter test - came out 86-87. i think it's too soon to go on oxygen, until we see if advair works. but i worry about the advair too.

One interesting thing is that when I lay down, I have no inclination to cough. Could it be my tonsils? Should I see an ENT?
You might try asking your doctor to prescribe Combivent/Duoneb. This is an already prepared mixture of Albuterol and Ipratropium. It is available as an inhaler, as well as a nebulizer solution.
Although you can ask your doctor to be sure, Pulmicort should probably be taken separately.
My pulmonary specialist just gave me an Advair Diskus and increased my Albuterol breathing treatments to 4-6 daily and my Combivent Inhaler every 4 hours. I almost died from an asthma attack last weekend. I had emergency heart surgery in June and have been having arrhythmias so I'm on a heart monitor for this month. I understand that Advair causes heart palpitations. Since I'm already having trouble with my heartbeat, I'm afraid to try the Advair.
Nasal and throat cultures test negative except for rhinovirus. Albuterol (qid) Combivent (BID) combined treatment resolved shortness of breath finally so dropped albuterol and combivent... but cough still persists. Follow up again with Pulm increased dosage of Flovent to 110.
Sorry so detailed, just wanted to convey that we have tried MANY approaches. He is still coughing. Albeit less frequently on some days, but still very bronchial cough. Wet, non productive. No drainage and No fevers EVER.
t been able to sleep hardly at all. This has never happened before. I take combivent and flovent 2 times a day and have been doing this for a long time. I don't understand why I can't sleep when nothing has changed for me. I have tried pm meds and also ambien with no luck sleeping. What is going on for this to happen to me?

Does the smell of peanut butter make anyone else wanna throw up ? Ive never liked peanut butter but even more so now. The smell just makes me sick.. and i am 28 weeks.
A lot of baby products now have a picture of a peanut with a line through it meaning the product is peanut free. I know you have to be careful of products purchased from a bakery if you have a peanut allergy because bakery products often warn of traces of peanuts.
I have a niece that has a peanut allergy and a nephew that has a severe peanut allergy. He carries an epi pen with him but he is in his twenties and has had the peanut allergy since he was a child. My niece is only five years old.
I am crave peanut butter so bad since coming off fentanyl??? It just has so many calories and fat in it. The last thing I want to do in all this is gain weight cuz that will make me so depressed.
ok i don't see much talk about it here, but how many of you ladies have been introduced to THE PEANUT!!! lol. it's a work out ball in the shape of a peanut, its proped between your legs to aid with dilation, i asked this because i see lots of women here say how dilation stalled for them so they either got the epi or had a section.but no one ever mentions THE PEANUT!!!
