I have been using Combivent for about a month together with Asmanex to treat my cough-variant asthma and have had pretty good results. However, the first inhalation of Combivent always triggers a major coughing spell (sometimes it's so severe I almost vomit or my ribs hurt). Are there other bronchodilators that might be easier to inhale and still be effective? Or would using a nebulizer help? I've heard there can be adverse side effects with a nebulizer.
You might try asking your doctor to prescribe Combivent/Duoneb. This is an already prepared mixture of Albuterol and Ipratropium. It is available as an inhaler, as well as a nebulizer solution.
Although you can ask your doctor to be sure, Pulmicort should probably be taken separately.
t been able to sleep hardly at all. This has never happened before. I take combivent and flovent 2 times a day and have been doing this for a long time. I don't understand why I can't sleep when nothing has changed for me. I have tried pm meds and also ambien with no luck sleeping. What is going on for this to happen to me?
Does anyone know if an inhaler ( I use combivent) can aggravte PACS and PVCS? I had breakfast this morning and then used my inhalers and my heart started doing some weird pvcs and pacs anyone else ever have this happen?

I use the combivent mainly before exercise with 02. . Unfortunately my insurance is minimal
and I only get to see my pullmanary doctor who proscribes these meds, once every

Nasal and throat cultures test negative except for rhinovirus. Albuterol (qid) Combivent (BID) combined treatment resolved shortness of breath finally so dropped albuterol and combivent... but cough still persists. Follow up again with Pulm increased dosage of Flovent to 110.
Sorry so detailed, just wanted to convey that we have tried MANY approaches. He is still coughing. Albeit less frequently on some days, but still very bronchial cough. Wet, non productive. No drainage and No fevers EVER.
do you find nebulizers help?
ve recently had an asthma attack due to spring pollen and other related environmental condition that increase during this season. I take a Combivent inhaler as a rescue treatment for my asthma. The problem at this point is that is a provides short relief and has choked me to the point of passing out. Could you please tell me what is causing this reaction. recently diagnosed with COPD/emphysema. hospitalized three times: finally determined that i'm allergic to sulfate based albuterol, combivent, all of the usual "suspects." i'm now on advair (one week= 115 ) and doing okay - except the only rescue inhaler i can tolerate is primotene mist. just took an oximeter test - came out 86-87. i think it's too soon to go on oxygen, until we see if advair works. but i worry about the advair too.

After i had my youngest son, the dr phoned in some meds once i was home from the hospital and he had the dosage wrong too. The pharmacist had a sticky note on the bag and bottle and told me not to take as much as the lable said to because it could damage the liver. Just be careful and dont take as much as the bottle says to. Youre supposed to keep your aceto intake below 4,000 mg at the max for a 24 hr period.
I was using something called Combivent which made me cough every time I sprayed. My pulmonologist asked if I were using a "spacer" attached to the inhaler. Of course, neither she nor the pharmacy had offered one to me. Instead, I switched to QVAR which is much more effective and lasts longer than 4 or 6 hours. The down side is that QVAR is a steroid; however, I have yet to notice any negative side effects after about 3 years of use.
My pulmonary specialist just gave me an Advair Diskus and increased my Albuterol breathing treatments to 4-6 daily and my Combivent Inhaler every 4 hours. I almost died from an asthma attack last weekend. I had emergency heart surgery in June and have been having arrhythmias so I'm on a heart monitor for this month. I posted earlier about some unusual experiences with sub but didn't give any details. My doc recommended me take either 4mg or 8 to start. I was in mild WDs, so I said I'll take 8 to make sure it would get me off those. He agreed, and said if i need more two hours later, take another. Anyway, to make a long story short, I ended up extremely sick the next day.
He advised against this but gave me a prescription of Azithromycin, with 500mg dosage twice a day for three days. In all my research online, I have read that the recommended dosage is 1g of Azithromycin taken once. Is the dosage I was prescribed as effective?
