t have to worry about any herpes or other STI infections from using any of these spa (hot tub, cold water, steam room) facilities (again no physical contact with anyone)? I just want to double make sure that potentially having an open wound, even a small one, in my genital region and using these facilities I shouldn't be concerned that I reopened the door to infection and need additional testing. I just went cold turkey from a oxy addiction. You name the oxy, I took it. I was taking 80 plus mg a day for three years. I'm on day 4 and feeling much better. The important thing is to bathe it frequently with warm water and antiseptic, and try to keep the wound open, so that it will keep draining out all the gunk and pus. Even if one of you had HIV, the other was not remotely at risk for HIV transmission in a spa. If the spa is properly maintained with disinfectant (chlorine, bromine, silver ions etc), HIV would be instantaneously killed. Even with disinfection, within minutes (let alone 24 hours) it would be much too diluted to infect someone else. Not to mention the water continually circulating through the filter. And I would guess there's no reason to suspect your friend has HIV anyway.

Hello dear Doctor My fear is related to an article of the daily mail, that one could get HIV from using a fish spa if the water is not changed and another customer had cuts or bleedings in the tank.
