Avatar m tn I have been taking 2 30mgs oxys a day for about 3 months. I want to stop because they are taking over my life and i am becoming more addicted to them. I am now snorting them. Can anybody tell me what is the best way to come off them? I am on day 2 cold turkey but i dont know if i can do it. I own my own business and can't take time off. Should i taper off or just do cold turkey? Also will i ever feel normal or happy again and how long will it take? Please help.

Avatar f tn Okay, So to sum this up quickly I was on oxycontin (up to 200-400mg a day) for 3 years, and I went on methadone. My Babys dad was also doin this with me...anyways he got clean and wanted me off the methadone, so I stopped it Cold turky, but was too ***** to go thru that ****, and started using pills again ( I even got him back into and he was like 6 weeks clean....*sigh*) anyways, I DONT WANT TO go thru the hell I KNOW im facing.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have info on Clonidine? My daughter is in Medical detox and they are giving her this during her detox. I'm just wondering if it is another addictive drug or if it is just an aid in the detoxification. I would assume they wouln't give her something addictive but you never know.
Avatar f tn Found your site yesterday and instead of being on the verge of giving up, I am now on my way to my doctor to ask for Tramadol (and to use every fiber of my being to try not to hit him for not telling me such things existed when he knew I was suffering terrible withdrawl from the tapering off oxycontin and oxy ir's) My question is... since I don't trust my doctor anymore... what dose should I ask for? I was on 100mg oxy twice a day and 20mg oxy ir, 4 times a day...
1762497 tn?1313272219 The clonidine is simple...(Ive used it for withdrawl before also) it is a blood pressure medication that with lower your blood pressure to help you feel mor relaxed. Whjen you are going through withdrawls your BP is raised and this helps. It will relax you and make you more comfortable during this. Withdrawl *****, i wont lie, but it only lasts for a day or 2. you might feel sick, might be sick, feel tired, mood swings...
Avatar f tn my nose is runing, i am sweating and have to go the bathroom every 20 mins. The clonidine just knocks me out cold.slept for 14 hrs last night. try to sleep thru the withdrawl i guess.
Avatar f tn try to go to a clincin and get clonidine for the w/d it will help ....also something to sleep go to a pharmacy ask them oe go to ao doctor...god bless...you ....its up to your will and determintion.......
Avatar f tn ocycontin three times a day, use 15 to 45 mg. oxycodone for breakthrough pain as needed, clonidine 1mg. twice a day, and Ativan 1 mg. up to 3 times a day. Also to continue using the compounding cream. I will have a follow-up appointment with her next Thursday as I'll also be having another stellate ganglion block then. She thinks it will take us a bit to find the right dose and scheduling, that we won't get it perfect the first time around.
Avatar n tn with short term use, will withdrawl symptoms be as severe as long term use, and if so, what is the best way to reduce/avoid withdrawl?
Avatar m tn i tried taking tramadol for my addiction to heroin and oxycontin and was able to stay clean for two months, but yes tramadol is addictive and can cause seizures in ppl who try and go CT with it, especially at the high dose you were at. I alsow as on suboxone treatment for my addcition for over 8 months, i am now on methadone and for me its worked a lot better, but for youre case I would try and just taper off completely and if you want a doctor to help you they def. can, i would even suggest it.
797052 tn?1240511394 I don't think starting on methadone was the thing to do, you should NEVER take that drug under any circumstance, I know, I have been addicted to it for over 10 years now. It is my opinion that the withdrawal from roxicodone would have been better than the one from methadone, I hope I'm wrong for your sake. Maybe just being on it for 5 days won't be a big deal, for sure start tapering, I know that. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I took Clonidine for several days during detox. It really did make a difference in helping with my withdrawl symptoms. Helped to keep me calmer and in my skin. I also had a few tranzene that I took ( I cut them in halves ) . These two things along with the Immodium and otc pain meds were a hugh help for me.
Avatar n tn the only thing im wondering is if the suboxone will give me bad withdrawls if i only take it for 4 to 5 days max. will all the oxycontin be out of my system so that when i stop the 1mg of suboxone i have been taking for the past 4 to 5 days so that i wont go into withdrawls all over again.
Avatar m tn I was a chronic user of both oxycontin and oxycodone. It was prescribed to me for a shoulder injury. I have never used illegally. My dr. never tried to stop or taper me down only the opposite. Within two years I was up to 360 30mg ocodone and 60 60 mg oxycontin a month not to mention soma and 3 xanax bars a day. I never filled the xanax or the soma due to the fact that I had already realized what a monster the pain meds had become (thank god). I had spoken to the dr.
765775 tn?1366024691 I have had (10) surgeries in the past 18 months and have to have number (11) this Wednesday. My doctors have me on Oxycontin 20 mg. and Percocet 5/325. Currently I take (1) Oxycontin 20 mg. a day and (1) 5/325 Percocet a day. This does not totally releive my pain but I don't want to increase my dosage. I have been on the Oxycontin since November, 2008. Prior to that the doctors had me on Vicodin 7.5/750 every 4 to 6 hours.
Avatar f tn I got a friend that due to extreme and lasting pains has been on oxycontin for 8 years now.Recently, someone stole her pills. She is not due to have a refill in some time yet,and she knows for a fact that she will not have enough to last to her next refill. As her friend,i am very concerned with what this does to her as she is in poor health as it is.She wants to get of the oxycontin as she found another drug that has been proven to have a good degree of effect on patients such as herself.
Avatar n tn t want to go there), felt terrible for about 24 to 72 hrs after last dose. Slight withdrawals like chills for about 7 days. You are probably in the worst part of WD now, keep up the good work. This is my first time to post here, but when I was WD I read here often, was good so as not to feel alone. Thank you to all you kind people here. Have not taken a pill in 3 weeks now.
439522 tn?1214951189 I've got a question. I'm tapering down from Oxycontin (done a week ago) and now hydrocodone (down to 4 per day- 5mg). Dr. has me on .1 clonidine to help with the physical withdrawal symptoms as we move down. But, today he prescribed me tramadol...with lots of refills and for long term use. I had never heard of it, and the point was that I decided it was time to move off opiates and try some other non-narcotic pain relievers.
454795 tn?1205936319 So I made up my mind and told him NO, I did not want any more pills what so ever. The doc percsribed me clonidine(used for high blood preasure) and lunesta to help me sleep. I have to say that without the clonidin I wouldn't be able to function at all. It has deffinatley taken away from the withdrawl hell that we all feel and I would highly recommend everyone try it out. Lets be honest here who can seriously taper down off Oxy?
Avatar m tn Hello...I've been on 15 10mg vikes for a year now and have decided to go CT starting Friday. I've been through it before, but I wasn't taking as much then. I've got access to a few meds to "hopefully" make things easier and wanted some input on what you all think. I'm new to this sight and it looks very helpful to people suffering from my same situation and would really appreciate your insight from experience.
Avatar m tn I went into withdrawl within 24 hours and stayed down for 4 days with horrible withdrawl. Finally after he tweaked the Oxy's I told him this wasn't working and he put me back on the Methadone with 2 pills a day of Morphine that lasts 12 hours. He wants me to go from 10 pills every 24 hours down to 6. I've so far gotten down to 8 in the last 3 weeks. 2 days ago I dropped form 9 to 8. So far I feel OK. I'm planning on dropping a 1/2 pill on Friday to 7.5 pills.
