Avatar f tn I know that several people have told me about how well Clonidine works for withdrawal symptoms. I am an addict, and I need instant gratification. I want to know what it does for the anxiety; that "crawling out of your skin" feeling. Anyone who has used it, please share!
Avatar n tn everyone is different but i would prepare and ask ur doctor for clonidine like avs said and some non-narcotic aids to help u get off the meds u r on...it definitely will not get any easier to get off as time goes by...
Avatar m tn so i guess i am forced to detox which is the best thing i can do for myself. i was given clonidine .01mgs from a friend and that is all i have. will this drug be enough to help me endure the withdrawals so that i wont give in? i know its willpower and such but the anxiety literally scares the living hell out of me. im about to take my first pill now...
Avatar f tn Will clonidine help me with withdrawal ? I have had 5 operations on my hip and have been prescribed oxycontin and hydromorphine for over a year. I tried getting off them but can't do it as the symtoms are terrible..Will clonidine help me? My medical dr has prescribed them to me and I havent tried them yet as I need some input on them.
Avatar m tn Hi there & welcome! Thanks for posting. The really good news is that from what you've described so far, you sound like you're 'medically dependent' as opposed to an addict. (ie. you never took more than prescribed, in fact, you requested less.) So, if you can just get through the w/d's there's every chance that you'll walk away & never look back. (Good news, indeed.
Avatar n tn i was on 4mgs a day of xanax and a lot of oxycontin and heroin, they put me on 3mgs of klonopin for the xanax addicition and suboxone for the opiates, i am now over three months clean
Avatar m tn You may have a slight increase in blood pressure during withdrawal; you may also get dehydrated, leading to an increased risk for blood clots forming in your body-- but I would say that the chance for either is low. Withdrawal certainly FEELS horrible, but it does not cause a huge amount of stress for the body-- nowhere near, for example, the withdrawal from alcohol. The primary issue is staying away from pain pills, once you have stopped.
Avatar f tn I have been taking anywhere from 80mg - 120 mg of Oxycontin per day for 4 months. I stopped cold turkey 52 hours ago. So far I have had some cravings. A little bit of insomnia. I have been drinking a lot of milkshakes and Starbucks frappes. What does everyone think - will I start to have w/ds soon? any thought as to why I haven't had more symptoms? I have gone thru w/d in the past and had a lot more symptoms. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have info on Clonidine? My daughter is in Medical detox and they are giving her this during her detox. I'm just wondering if it is another addictive drug or if it is just an aid in the detoxification. I would assume they wouln't give her something addictive but you never know.
Avatar f tn Specifically, I would have a person taking that much oxycodone stop using for about 5 days, and give her clonidine and immodium to manage as best she can. After that 5 days, the Suboxone would likely relieve her withdrawal and she would do well going forward. If she only goes 24 hours, her tolerance will still be so high that Suboxone would precipitate withdrawal. It wouldn't necessarily be dangerous, but it would be pretty miserable.
Avatar f tn I was on 2 80 mg lines snorted a day and that was barely enough tog et me by and stay high, and detoxing even with clonidine, lorazepam, immodium,. ambien, anti-nausea medicine i was still in agony. oxycontin is no joke its def. comaprible to heroin and they both are hell.
439522 tn?1214951189 I also looked it up on the FDA website and they had statistics where they have 180 cases reported of withdrawals and drug seeking behavior for it, and like 150,000k for oxy and 75k for hydro. Boy are those numbers all low, you can bet! lol Thanks for the warning, though...I'm definitely taking it all into consideration.
Avatar n tn i have been on everything from oxycontin to dilaudid in very high doses for a few years and now am on percocet or lortab. i have a family i need to take care of and i cant even barely function let alone help them. is there anything i can do to help with this. i dont have health insurance so i cnt go to the dr and ask for something like suboxene because i cant afford it. i am in AGONY!! is there anything i can do to get through this?please help!!!
1835769 tn?1318283340 It will give you a list of things to purchase or collect around your house that you can take to alleviate withdrawal symptoms. You can also call your doctor and get a prescription for Clonidine which is a blood pressure drug, but it works wonders when it comes to relieving withdrawal symptoms. The folks on the Substance Abuse forum are wonderful when it comes to being a support system for people who are withdrawing from any and all drugs, you might want to check them out.
Avatar f tn true, there are much better, safer meds to help you with withdrawals like, clonidine, bentyl for stomach cramps and maybe valium. Stay away from ultram.
797052 tn?1240511394 I don't think starting on methadone was the thing to do, you should NEVER take that drug under any circumstance, I know, I have been addicted to it for over 10 years now. It is my opinion that the withdrawal from roxicodone would have been better than the one from methadone, I hope I'm wrong for your sake. Maybe just being on it for 5 days won't be a big deal, for sure start tapering, I know that. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, everything we do has consequences. A person tolerant to opiates will go through withdrawal as the tolerance comes down. The symptoms can be minimized by tapering the medication slowly, although many people cannot do that kind of taper, as they cannot control their use to that extent. You mentioned that you 'got him back into it' speaking of your BF and narcotics-- you don't have that power either.
Avatar f tn I have been on Oxycontin for 2 years and am going to try quitting cold turkey. Anyone know the best way to quit cold turkey?? any suggestions will help greatly.
Avatar f tn have u read the thomas recipe in the health pages?....something for sleep and anxiety would help alot...clonidine is also a help for withdrawal from heavy doses like that...some use suboxone to get off...hang in there til monday and hopefully u can talk with ur doctor...hang in there and be strong..
Avatar f tn i don't know about methadone withdrawal but I am on day two of w/d from oxycontin and dialaudid. I think the clonidine, b vitamins, and l-tyrosine are saving me from the worst of it. Do you have any support from your doc? You could try calling a drug crisis line to get some advice if you really can't cope. I've done cold turkey before and it took about 8 days before I felt human again. I heard methadone can take longer.
Avatar m tn I have been taking 2 30mgs oxys a day for about 3 months. I want to stop because they are taking over my life and i am becoming more addicted to them. I am now snorting them. Can anybody tell me what is the best way to come off them? I am on day 2 cold turkey but i dont know if i can do it. I own my own business and can't take time off. Should i taper off or just do cold turkey? Also will i ever feel normal or happy again and how long will it take? Please help.
Avatar m tn anyone have any info on using Clonidine .1 mg for opiate withdrawal systems? Suppose to be a high blood pressure medication, but says it can be used for withdrawal systems too? wondering if it really works?
