Avatar m tn I am 49 and I am going thru it too! I think I have been going thru it for ten years. I know I keed to go to a doctor. I am a wreck! I think I started with the peri pause in my mid 30's and have just progressed to the point of full blown menopause? I don't know, what I do know is I just want to feel normal again. What ever that is. I don' know, my poor family has really been through it with me. God bless them. Does it ever stop? Or do you just continue to decline each year?

Avatar f tn Hi Nauty I take 4 Clondine 0.1 a day for BP and have had a hysterectomy I still get the night sweats I to smoke so Dr. dose not give me estrogen. I tried the Estroven and it works but started to feel guilty so tried a multi pak Vitamin from GNC designed for menopause symptoms and I found they work great I don't remember the name as I threw away the box it came in but they are individual packets and they last a month..
Avatar n tn Lower blood pressure reduces the workload of the heart and provides time for the heart to completely recover from the operation. If you experience dizziness, fainting, etc., your doctor may want to adjust the medication, but if you can tolerate your current blood presssure the better it is for your heart.
Avatar f tn I have been in surgical menopause for six years now. I have been using the estrogen patch (Vivelle dot .1) since my surgery and have had no problems with hot flashes. However, for the past 8 months I having been getting hot flashes every now and then. Is this normal? When I mentioned it to my doctor, he just said I was already taking the highest dose the patch comes in and didn't like the idea of me using the oral kind.
880900 tn?1467270141 WIkipedia says clonidine is good for reducing sweats and general "unease", but the patient must withdraw carefully from it too, in order to avoid rebound hypertension. Has anyone had experience with this? Did you experience the rebound hypertension after using clonidine? I'm considering asking my doctor for this drug because I'm still experiencing w/d symptoms after 2 weeks w/d. I've not slept for four days, too. Thanks for your help.
Avatar n tn just dont drink any alcohol with it it takes away the strenght of the clonidine no more than 900 mcg daily for detox of opiates and methadome and for the alcohol and the benzos. hope this helps feel free to ask! if you dont ask you dont find out right!
Avatar n tn It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar m tn I was wondering if anyone had any experience with withdrawals and the flu. I made an appointment with my doctor to try clonidine on Monday morning but on Sunday evening I came down with the flu my son had the week before. I took my last pill (20mg oxy 4 a day for 1 year) about the same time the flu started so I know it's not w/d. I am now on day 2 clean and it has been the worst 2 days of my life.
Avatar m tn This allows your blood vessels (veins and arteries) to relax (widen) and your heart to beat more slowly and easily. Clonidine is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). Clonidine may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide. and addiction is one of the other purposes it is used for, nonaddictive and helped me get off methadone...i used it for about 2 weeks total, it was a lifesaver for me...
Avatar n tn I have been tapering off opiates and I have clonidine and use it to sleep during the taper. I'm pretty sure opiates lower your blood pressure and so does clonidine, so can you take too much if you are combining them?
3160266 tn?1343672102 My day is spent on a rapid progression between hot and cold and it just does not let up for a second. I cannot sleep at night because of the hot and then freezing cold. I also have lost weight and I was thin to start with - 5'7 about 115 lbs, but I look 6 months pregnant. The gym 2 hours a day does not seem to help. I take soy products, black cohosh, b12, herbal teas of all kind, stopped drinking coffee and alcohol. I have tried accupuncture. I really did not expect this.
Avatar n tn I had a complete hysterectomy 4 years ago and went into surgical menopause. They did a complete hormone panel and the normal range for a female is approx 24, mine was 76!! I went with the natural HRT patch derived from a plant instead of the pill Premarin or Prempro derived from horse mare urine. It works great for me and I am in the lowest dose .5.
Avatar n tn It really helped me with a lot of the w/d symptoms especially the gastric and anxiety. Did a doctor prescribe the clonidine? Do they know about your taper? Clonidine is commonly prescribed for opiate detox. Let me know if you need anything....
Avatar n tn my son takes clonidine, he has adhd and the drugs he takes to treat the adhd stop him sleeping so he takes the clonidine for that. didnt know it could be used to help with w/d's, apparently clonidine started life as a treatment for high blood pressure but now has many uses. dont know if there are w/d's from clonidine but my sons doc told us never to take him straight of it because it would cause his blood pressure to rocket.
Avatar f tn I have been taking clonidine for the side effects of the hot flashes, and I must say, it helps quite a bit. It also works like a sleeping pill for quite some time, and that is very short-acting. Clonidine is not the same as Klonipin, and which is a sedative. Clonidine is a high Blood pressure drug but used for a variety of other causes. (I started out with .1 mg and am now taking .2 mg) it;s very cheap also, and I thought just worth mentioning, as I have never heard this mentioned anywhere.
Avatar f tn Give it 2-3 weeks becaue his tolerance needs to build up first. The Clonidine will also help with the shortness of breath and Insomnia. I also take an amino acid supplement, L-THEANINE, which helps balance out some of the overstimulation that Vyvanse and other stimulants (caffeine) can cause and it helps with ADHD on its own as well. It can be bought OTC at GNC or the Vitamin Shoppe.
374251 tn?1246235657 ) I still had the clonidine and we finally decided she should take one a couple hours ago. She had .15mg and is now sleeping. I am hoping the Clonidine will work for her this time. I'll try to post our results as they may help someone else....
Avatar f tn My five year old son has high functioning autism and ADHD. He is now potty trained but can be quite hyperactive before bedtime and has a hard time winding down at night. We have tried everything to calm him down and have a good bedtime routine. He gets plenty of fresh air and exercise. He is on 20 mg of ritilan during the day. His psychiatrist prescribed 1 tablet of clonidine before bedtime to help him fall asleep and stay asleep. The medication has worked for this.
1436182 tn?1283681713 There has been some research with the use of the medications; venlafaxine (effexor) an anti-depressant, bellergal and clonidine, for treatment of hot flashes, these would need to be prescribed by your physician. It is important to talk to your physician before you take any medications or supplements, to be sure there is no contraindication of any of these treatments in your individual situation. Best wishes...
Avatar m tn Ive always liked to use clonidine when I was detoxing, it did help relax me and lessen some of jittery, nervous energy. Hopefully the clonidine helps ease some of the symptoms, I would also get some immodium, some short of short term sleeping aid and lots of fluids. The vitamins and amino acids can really help with getting some energy, but thats all up to you. I wish you the best of luck, you can do this!
Avatar m tn It will not make you 100% the same as if you were taking the percs but it helps with anxiety, sleeplessness and overall feeling like crap. My doctor gave me 1.0 milligrams with a refill. She is awesome. Yesterday was my full day 2 from all addictive substances (day 9 from Vicodin) and I had some anxiety late afternoon and evening. Took a pill each time and I was fine. Slept a full 8 hours. I noticed that they make me hungry which I am not thrilled about because I am watching my weight.
656243 tn?1231288052 I became homebound after that because the Clonidine and Tizanidine both alpha blockers were much better at controlling dystonic spasms. But the Clonidine brought me into an agitated mixed state and the Tizanidine caused suicidal ideations. Depression is a common side effect of Clonidine and unlike naturally occuring depression medication enduced depression is hard to watch out for because it creeps up on you. But some people I know did well on Clonidine but its often not well tolerated.
Avatar f tn t get home until the 13th. That night I was put on nuerontin and a clonidine pill and saw my doc the next day. She called in a clonidine patch which I couldn't get until Tuesday and told me to take the neurontin. I was in major pain with the leg problems and so on so she upped the dose of neurontin but darned if I can remember when. I am pretty loopy. Of course she is off this next week. I have been dizzy and so tired but don't know if it is the clonidine or neurontin or both!
Avatar f tn Thus the reason for the foggy head/headache during the acute phase. The clonidine helped immensely and even helps with sleep.
Avatar m tn i had a stroke 7 years ago and my leg was getting really numb again and i thought i was having another stroke. i told the dr. about my hydro addiction and he said that the symptoms i am having are from the w/d's. he gave me some clonidine(i think thats how its spelled) to get me off the tabs and its suppose to help with the w/d. anyone with any experience with this pill?
10047460 tn?1407438406 well at first I would say that methadone has a 36hr half life so acute withdrawal will not set in until the 3rd day if you do not have any it will get progressive worst day one will be uncomfortable day 2 will have a lot of anxiety sweets and day 3 it will hit with force a lot has a lot to due with how high your dose is how long you been on it and your age I would not recommend this fill us im on the dose and how long you been on it............................Gnarly.......................
