Avatar f tn 02mg of intuniv at night and .02mg in the morning. I had a very bad experience with intuniv. Then we tried 40 mg vyvanse with .02mg of kapvey (another form of clonidine), I have been on this combination for about six months, which have been about the best, most productive, and calm six months i've had since being diagnosed. I find that the decrease in my vyvanse was enough to calm my side effects, and the clonidine was enough to control my adhd. Hope this helps!
Avatar n tn Hi, My 13yr old son has mod-severe ADHD + OCD + Tourettes. In 2006 he showed a normal EKG. He has been taking Concerta ( 126 mg ), Abilify ( 6mg ), Prozac ( 40mg), Intuniv ( 4mg ), & clonidine at bedtime (.15mg). Since the last EKG he has tried diff SSRI's & SNRI's with some pos results. He is coming off the Abilify to try Haldol. His tics are very bad & last from 3pm after school until bedtime. We tried Risperdal yrs ago, but he wet the bed.
Avatar f tn My son was on Vyvanse and Clonodine for a long time and it was a life saver. He has ADHD and ODD as well. The doctor wanted to try Tenex. We did that for several weeks and I begged to go back on Clonodine. Tenex was awful for us! Clonodine is fantastic and helps him go to sleep at night! If anyone wants to chat, I'm in the same boat~ ***@**** My husband and I have very different coping mechanisms. Any input?
Avatar f tn The doctor recommended to keep him in the 40 mg of Vyvanse, which he takes in the morning, and in the evening give him 1 mg of Intuniv. Do you know if that will help with his concentration at school?
Avatar f tn Three weeks ago, the Psychiatrist added in Intuniv...OH MY GOSH...the Concerta and Intuniv were PERFECT....Great days at school and an amazing kid emerged...Then at the end of two weeks he developed a tic...This was so horrible...They were happening about 12 - 16 per minute. raised eyebrows, eyes rolling to back of the head, head tilt to the side and a humming sound. We called Psych. and Concerta was stopped. However a week later, the tics are still here...not as frequent...

Avatar f tn My 11 yr old son has been taking 6 mg of Intuniv and 60 mg of Vyvanse daily for about 4 years. This combo has successfully managed his ADHD. He is on the smaller side height wise and we asked our Dr. about taking a med break this summer. He agreed and said to discontinue the Vyvanse but continue the Intuniv which we did on Friday. Since then my son has been constantly tired and ravenously hungry.
Avatar f tn My 3 year old son had been on many ADHD medicine and now on vyvanse during the day and intuniv at night and I gave him the intuniv earlier and now hes acting all crazy and bouncing off walls literally. What do I do?
Avatar f tn t handle him and she pushed us to take him to the doctors and have them start him on drugs,And now my son has Seizures and the side effects from these drugs are Seizures. The best thing I can tell you to do is to get his blood levels checked for everything and to see a Neurologist and have them do a EEG to make sure everything is normal in the brain. I say this because there are also children who are Misdiagnosed with ADD and ADHD that have Seizures because not all Seizures can be seen.
Avatar n tn 00 P.M he take .5 clonidine and 10 of Ritalin. At bedtime he takes .5 of clonidine and 10 of Abilify. Most evenings he is so tired he wants to go to bed by 7:00 or 7:30. Can this be a result of all of this medication?
Avatar n tn He is 10 and on Concerta 54 mg (for last almost 3 years) and Zoloft 100 mg and Intuniv 2 mg and recently Risperdal 0.25 mg every am and 0.5 mg q pm. The neurologist wanted to add another med Abilify on board as he was still having some outburst behavior. I find this troubling that he wants my child on 5 psychoactive meds. we sought a second opinion from a psychiatrist that our son's therapist recommended.
1744544 tn?1311299862 Instead, he has now taken me off of my Adderall and put me on 1mg of Intuniv, which is for CHILDREN ages 6-17.. I am a 27 year old woman who has been taking 60mg of Adderall for over 2 years, and he just STOPS and puts me on this.. Not to mention, my 6 year old son was recently prescribed 2mg of Intuniv and it turned him into a Zombie..
Avatar m tn What medications would be appropriate and relatively low risk for him? Do you have any expoerience with Intuniv and WPW?

Avatar f tn My step-daughter is on Strattera, Intuniv, and Zoloft. I have heard many things and was wondering if it was normal for her to be on all three?
Avatar f tn Has anyone any experience with Clonidine and Lassix in pregnancy? Do they cause miscarriages?
Avatar m tn As far as I know, the only two are intuniv and concerta. They use different formulations. No clue which is better. I think it probably depends on the individual. Both do take a while to take effect (compared to a stimulant). If you google them, you will be able to see lots of anecdotal posts on how it worked for that poster or their children. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn As Lulu747 I also used clonidine while tapering off opiates and just wanted off and went cold turkey over a year ago. (morphine sulfate and fentanyl patch). The clonidine did help with my w/d symptoms as well.
Avatar n tn One week ago a psychiatrist put me on 300mg Lamictal pm (without titration), 20mg Geodon pm, 1mg Intuniv pm, 10mg Ambien pm, 15mg Focalin am, and 40mg Vyvanse am for ADHD and bipolar. Prior this regimen I wasn't on any medications. Today I had to call an amulance as my resting pulse shot up to 140bpm and my blood pressure went up to 166/90. I thought I was going to die. As well, my lymph nodes are swollen and a bleeding rash has started to form on my hand.
Avatar n tn my son takes clonidine, he has adhd and the drugs he takes to treat the adhd stop him sleeping so he takes the clonidine for that. didnt know it could be used to help with w/d's, apparently clonidine started life as a treatment for high blood pressure but now has many uses. dont know if there are w/d's from clonidine but my sons doc told us never to take him straight of it because it would cause his blood pressure to rocket.
Avatar f tn We have tried a few medications, Right now shes on intuniv and strattera. She seems to be doing better with impulsiveness, she was very dangerous, and would do stuff without thinking. So thats better, but she still has to constantly do something. I put a camra in her room to see if i could see her doing this and thats when she was biting her purse. The whole time she was watching tv she was constantly moving her mouth and lips, biting purse, and putting fingers in mouth.
Avatar f tn You didn't say how long he has been on guanfacine. It does take one to two weeks to build up in the system to be effective - and, of course, the dose may be to low. You might also look into Intuniv. "Intuniv is once a day in AM, longest duration, least sedating, often smoother and is a new brand." However, neither of these "May not help attention as much as stimulants." You are walking somewhat of a fine line with his multiple disorders.
Avatar n tn She also suffers from ADHD, which I have to say which is the worse of 2 evils! She is taking 300mg of Zonegran for the seizures and Vyvanse and intuniv for the ADHD. I was also told to give her B6 for her very very very bad mood swings which also comes with these 2 diseases. It does help! I was also told by a friend about a vitamin called 5-HTP. Does anyone know anything about this? This is a very hard thing to deal with, I wish like most parents I can take it from her.
