Hi, I'm suffering frm staph from past a month. Low grade fever. stiff neck and swollen body at times not everyday. Got a CBC count, Everything seems perfect just a bit low RBC and high WBC 15000. doc's treating for staph with flagyl 400. I've read somewhere tht these medicines don't work to treat staph! I m confident on my doc but just that a month is too long. and these tablets seems to increase my boils and the 1st day gave me bad chest pain. My boils are very tiny but many.

Antibiotics are often targeted to work on some bacteria better than others. Are they suggesting a different antibiotic to rid of staph? t use neosporin as it gives me a rash....had an appointment today...my doctor believes it is a staph infection so I now taking clindamycin.
I was also given some topical treatments, including a benzoyl peroxide wash and ketoconazole shampoo (used a body wash) to alternate with every day, and clindamycin topical lotion which i did not see much improvement with. I even tried nasal mupiricin ointment because my doctor thought it was staph. I had a culture done and the results came back negative for s. aureus, beta-hemolytic streptococcus, and p. aeruginosa.
I have been getting boils in my arm pit since high school. I contracted staph about 2 years ago, my doctor said that it was probably due to the boils I got under my arm pit and cross contamination. I have still been getting boils under my arm. I think a lot of it has to do with me being large breasted. My bras tend to enhance the boils, summer is a bummer! Add heat, bra rubbing, and sweat ... I get HUGE boils ... They get sore, swollen, and I am sick of it!
Hi, I took Clindamycin 300 mg 3x a day. I only finished 12 out of 21 pills as I feared the high risk of colitis associated with this drug. My question is that after stopping the medication about 3 days ago, I am having long (6"+), loose stools. Could this be c. diff? I also have a lot of gas throughout the day, some mild abdominal pain too.
I had a nasal swab test done four years ago which came back positive for staph aureus, though doctors did not mention MRSA. Over the next few years I went to other doctors and a dermatologist, given such medications as bactrim, clindamycin, doxycyclin, mupirocin ointment, etc. None have worked. I went to a primary care doctor last week who performed a general bacterial culture on one of the sores I squeezed and sent of to the lab.
i just found out she has these acne like spot on her face and shoulder. She say it body ance. I read the bottle of cream she uses and its Clindamycin. I looked it up and it say it is use to treat acne and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Is methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus common in people who are hiv + ? She also has vigoligo. Couple week ago i broke out with the same kind of acne she has. I have test neg in june .
Cellulitis is usually caused by Staph or strep and sometimes other bacteria. Staph can produce nodules. Maybe this is what your friends doctor meant. When you have pus (an abcess) you definetly need to be on antibiotics. But if the pus is gone then you are getting better. Cellulitis doesn't aways have pus but usually is treated with antibiotics. Since it was not MRSA it sounds like the right antibiotics were given to you (clindamycin). It takes months for this to go away sometimes.
Afternoon. I have had cellulitis in my nose for over a month.... took Bactrim, Clindamycin, and another 5 days of Bactrim.. which didn't help in the first place... but... i have this swollen membrane (i guess) from the tip of my nose about 1/2 inch back... it always feels like it is going to swell up again.... with no insurance another 125.00 is not what I want to pay since it seems like none of that helped anyway... anybody have any thoughts on this one???

Wash skin with antiseptic lotions daily to decrease bacteria. Local antibiotics of erythromycin and Clindamycin group also help. Wear loose fitting clothes.
Please consult your gynecologist regarding this and also get a STD panel done.

has given me 10 days of clindamycin to be taken 3 times a day at a dose of 450 mgs. this is fine, i can take clindamycin with no ill effects.
HOWEVER, i have read that this drug is not commonly used to treat std's as there are so many better options. Is clindamycin going to work??? Thanks.
t seem to have problems with doxycycline, amoxicillin or clindamycin. Clindamycin destroys my stomach though. I avoid cipro and zithromax.
Went to a Ureologist who looked at it and said it was nothing more than a skin infection. He used the word staph aand mrsa. Ive never heard of that happening there and i asked why it returned in the same spot and he said it happens. He gave me Clyndamicyn and it helped and it was 6 weeks ago. Yet the area is still pink and somewhat sensitive (not bad though) I never saw anything that looked like blisters etc etc. But when I would clean it there would yellow and green ****...
I got my culture back last Thursday afternoon of last week and it came back that MRSA was resistant to Clindamycin. Doxycycline was not so she put me back on Doxycycline and also Rifampin.
I developed a rash all around my neck with small pimples that same Thursday. She took a biopsy Monday and I should have the results today.
She gave me some creams and prescribed a soap to bathe in that would kill the staph on my skin.
I have also been having night sweats for the last two months.
The condition may occur anywhere on the skin. Boils are caused by infection of the hair follicle by staph aureus. Please keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful.In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics and lancing may be needed.
ve ever taken (intra-nasal included) have come back NEGATIVE with no signs of staph of strep. Now this is really strange, because it suggests that this skin problem may not be bacterial. But antibiotics I've taken in the past seemed to help so what's going on? I've also have had blood tests done to test for auto-immune problems, which also came back with nothing.
I have two failed implants due to infection which did not respond to Clindamycin. I also got a bad reaction to Clindamycin a feeling of big lump in throat, sore throat and severe heartburn. In spite of the fact that I drank at least 10ounces of water with each pill.
My question is since I'm allergic to penicillin. What antibiotic is effective for teeth and gum infections????
