Avatar n tn OTC bactericidal products containing benzoyl peroxide may be used in mild to moderate acne. The gel or cream containing benzoyl peroxide is rubbed, twice daily, into the pores over the affected region. Antibiotics such as erythromycin, clindamycin can be applied on the lesions. You cannot really keep them from recurring if your skin is prone to developing them. You can make appropriate dietary adjustments, if it is applicable to you.

Avatar f tn Hi, My doctor just called me last night and told me I tested positive for herpes, but asked how I was doing and I said I was still taking the clindamycin phosphate that she had prescribed and she said no don't take that yet, but I already started it... Should I continue use? I am so confused and I still have to schedule a follow up appt. to try and understand all of this. Please help!
Avatar f tn The dermatologist prescribed first a clindamycin phosphate topical cream, that did not work. Then he prescribed clidamycin/peroxide cream and a face wash, that only dry my skin and did not help at all. A second dermatologist prescribed some safe antibiotics (keflex 500 mg twice daily) and azaleic acid cream. I start taking this and it finally help with my terrible acne. I have acne in my back, face and chest. Some its really deep and leave marks everywhere.
Avatar f tn It makes me have severe stomach issues. I cannot even have the acne cream with it since I still get stomach issues even though it is not supposed to be able to get into your bloodstream from being on your face. I would call your dr immediately and get switched to another antibiotic and see if you need to go to er. I am currently on penicillin for my tooth infection after root canal. It is working for me and not many issues.
Avatar f tn Avoid picking or pressing the acne. You can also use Benzoyl peroxide 5% lotion or gel or clindamycin cream once at bedtime. An amount of lotion the size of a pea should be enough to cover most of your face. If your skin becomes red or peels, you are using too much of the medicine or applying it too often. Engage in a diet that is low in sugar and fat but is rich in vitamins. This prevents acne by preventing the buildup of excess oil on the skin. Also refrain from touching or squeezing your acne.
Avatar f tn Can anyone recommend an acne treatment for those cystic acne bumps that take forever to go away? I'm 46 and did Accutane in my 20s with pretty good results until the last several years. I've had the most success with Pro Active, but my skin got really itchy when I wore mineral powder makeup and I kept ruining towels, pillowcases and shirts. I've also tried Acne Free, Murad and Dermatologic plus prescription cream with no luck.
Avatar n tn The pimples i keep getting are cystic acne. They hurt really bad and nothing helps them go away. This is currently what i use on my face: Face wash with .5% salicylic acid and another facewash with 3.5% benzoyl peroxide. I MAKE SURE to take really good care of my skin but it dosent seem to work. Also i have a prescription face medication cream called BenzaClin which is 1% clindamycin and 5% Benzoyl peroxide.
Avatar n tn I appreciate the antibiotics, but they haven't done much for me either. But have you tried low percentage retin-a cream? This may be a solution for you. Applied at night, the thin layer of cream can do wonders in a matter of weeks, and over several months, there's a big improvement. I've used it as an acne treatment, and my 50+ age mother uses it for acne, wrinkles, and overall skin appearance. She looks fabulous for her age!
Avatar n tn Hi, You may have oily skin on the buttocks which makes it acne-prone. Acne vulgaris (commonly called acne) is a skin disease caused by changes in the pilosebaceous units (skin structures consisting of a hair follicle and its associated sebaceous gland). Enlargement of sebaceous glands and an increase in sebum production occur with increased androgen (DHEA-S), coomon in adolescence. Widely available OTC bactericidal products containing benzoyl peroxide may be used in mild to moderate acne.

Avatar m tn I am a male and in my teens and have Perioral dermatitis which I have read is uncommon, I know exactly how I got the skin condition from to much use of a Steroidal topical cream, I am now going through my second flare up - my last flare was about 2 years ago around this time, I think the flare up was caused by chlorinated water, which I read is not good for this condition I have been struggling to keep this condition under control and my treatment from my last time does not seem to be working, w
Avatar n tn I'm 27 old male and I have a moderate severity acne. I've been to two doctors and got a drastically different feedback from them. I'm fighting with the issue for a very long time so desperately searching for resolution. My skin is unfortunately a combination of being oily, sensitive and having stiff facial bristles. And, as obvious from my question title, my skin is also acne-prone: almost everywhere above the navel.
Avatar n tn Widely available OTC bactericidal products containing benzoyl peroxide may be used in mild to moderate acne. The gel or cream containing benzoyl peroxide is rubbed, twice daily, into the pores over the affected region. Bar soaps or washes may also be used and vary from 2 to 10% in strength. Externally applied antibiotics such as erythromycin, clindamycin, Stievamycin, or tetracycline aim to kill the bacteria that are harbored in the blocked follicles. ref:http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar f tn I have a huge acne scar on my laugh line on my left cheek, The skin has been peeling off, but it still gets irritated easily and makes the scar look red. Will this prevent the scar from healing? Is this part of the healing process? It burns when I put any products on it and when I touch the area. It has been over a week since I first had the mark, but usually my scars don't get irritated so easily after a week. They are usually gone by then. Should I be worried that this might never fade?
Avatar f tn I am taking 400 mg of Spironolactone for acne and 10 mg of Klonopin once a day for anxiety. Can I take these drugs until I become pregnant? Or do I have to stop now?
