Avatar m tn Hello, It can be due to cystic acne. Cystic acne is the most severe form of acne. Cystic acne affects deeper skin tissue than the more superficial inflammation from common acne. Since they are severe, so systemic medications are usually required. The treatment consists of topical and oral antibiotics, tretinoin, oral contraceptives in females and Intralesional corticosteroid injections. Very severe cases may need excision and drainage.

Avatar n tn Hi, Acne needs to be assessed so it may be graded. The more complicated the acne, the more that topical medications may not be able to help. Do you know a dermatologist in the area? Some forms of acne require injections and surgery. An experienced dermatologist will be the best person to do this.Do not pick on your pimples.Only use medications that were prescribed by a physician . Some dermatologists may ask you to change your soaps and shampoo. The water may also play a role.
Avatar m tn Vitamin A strengthens the protective tissue of the skin and helps in reducing sebum production. Topical medications like benzoyl peroxide, clindamycin and retinoid are used in treating acne. It is suggested to see a dermatologist before using these products. Keep me posted. Take care and regards!
Avatar f tn If the acne persist then you may need topical antibiotics like Clindamycin cream for which you should consult a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn t say what you have already tried but the standard treatment for body acne is a course of oral antibiotics like Oxytetracycline 250mg twice daily and a topical retinoid gel such as Retin-a. It would be unusual to get acne on your arms, this is more likely to be keratosis pilaris rubra. However, Retin-a is also effective for this condition.
Avatar m tn I have 3 bumps in the back of my head/bottom of my hairline they feel about the size of a dime. Kind of look like acne bumps. They are light pink/red. They do not hurt, do not itch, and have been there for almost 2 months (That I have noticed atleast). Out of nowhere, one got inflamed and hurt for a day or two, but has returned back to its normal size. the rest remain the same. What can this be? Thanks so much in advance!

467493 tn?1229895239 Erythromycin and clindamycin can be used in both topical creams and oral prescriptives. The oral forms of these are antibiotics for severe acne. Since bacteria are able to build resistance to antibiotics, however, erythromycin and clindamycin, though safe, may not be very effective. Despite general belief that oral contraceptive pills for acne will harm the baby if continued, there is no evidence showing women to be at a higher risk for defects.
309783 tn?1271958229 I would be interested to hear from anyone with rosacea which did not respond to standard treatments (oxytetracycline/metronidozole/clindamycin) who was subsequently treated in this way. Or anyone who had both cystic acne and rosacea who took Accutane/Roaccutane. Eloise.
Avatar f tn I was also given some topical treatments, including a benzoyl peroxide wash and ketoconazole shampoo (used a body wash) to alternate with every day, and clindamycin topical lotion which i did not see much improvement with. I even tried nasal mupiricin ointment because my doctor thought it was staph. I had a culture done and the results came back negative for s. aureus, beta-hemolytic streptococcus, and p. aeruginosa.
Avatar m tn You can also treat acne by cleaning your face regularly with Cetaphil, using mild skincare products, applying antibacterial topical medications like Clindamycin. With the help of the doctor, the treatment of oral antibiotics, contraceptive pills, retinoids, cortisone injections, chemical peels and laser treatment can be your choices. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar m tn It is treated in a similar manner to acne vulgaris with tetracycline antibiotics or erythromycin but, without the use of topical steroids. Recently, photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been reported to be helpful, although large studies have not yet been performed. Let us know if you need any other information. Regards.
Avatar m tn Your eating habits should not have a direct effect on acne, since acne is caused by bacteria and hormonal fluctuations affect it. Yes, some foods MAY trigger an attack in some people, but I'm yet to see this in my case. Sometimes our skin gets used to certain topical medicines. If that's the case, the doctor will change it for you or combine it with other meds.
1364054 tn?1346005167 Hello, Adaplene is a topical retinoid primarily used in the treatment of mild-moderate acne. Adapalene controls acne but does not cure it. Medications similar to adapalene have caused tumors in laboratory animals who were given the medications and exposed to real or artificial sunlight. It is not known whether adapalene increases the risk of tumors in humans. But it is advisable to protect yourself from sunlight and sunlamps while taking adapalene. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

A whole plant based diet with no added oil will lower the amount of extra oil in your system and thus less oil. Oily foods make acne worse. Read the Starch Solution by Dr. McDougall and it talks about a healthy diet and how it affects your skin, heart and many other things. One thing do not pick or scrub the acne. Avatar n tn I wouldn't use Shea Butter on acne or blackheads as this may make them worse. A cream which contains benzoyl peroxide is good, but one from your doctor such as Duac gel may be more effective than store bought creams, as Duac also contains a topical antibiotic called Clindamycin.
