Avatar f tn Can anyone recommend an acne treatment for those cystic acne bumps that take forever to go away? I'm 46 and did Accutane in my 20s with pretty good results until the last several years. I've had the most success with Pro Active, but my skin got really itchy when I wore mineral powder makeup and I kept ruining towels, pillowcases and shirts. I've also tried Acne Free, Murad and Dermatologic plus prescription cream with no luck.

Continue taking the doxycycline capsules and try for cleocin gel which contains clindamycin. Also keep you face clean by washing with a mild soap atleast twice a day.Pat it dry and do not rub it.Avoid picking or pressing the acne. Avatar m tn The acne worsened throughout the year into cystic acne on the cheeks when I moved overseas. I lived overseas for a year, then moved back to the states, where all my acne disappeared for two months. It returned again slowly, starting out with a small rash (which went away with Desonide Cream .05%), then milia/whiteheads all over my cheeks, and then red pimples with white pus spreading from my cheeks to my chin now.
Avatar n tn A pic would be ideal to give a diagnosis. As for Acne take a course of VitA for about 15 days, with calamine application.Pregnancy would be a contra for vitA,and longer course not recommended.Do consult your doc.You can aso take Bcarotene instead either as capsules or as nutritional supplement.
Avatar n tn I appreciate the antibiotics, but they haven't done much for me either. But have you tried low percentage retin-a cream? This may be a solution for you. Applied at night, the thin layer of cream can do wonders in a matter of weeks, and over several months, there's a big improvement. I've used it as an acne treatment, and my 50+ age mother uses it for acne, wrinkles, and overall skin appearance. She looks fabulous for her age!

Avatar f tn I was also given some topical treatments, including a benzoyl peroxide wash and ketoconazole shampoo (used a body wash) to alternate with every day, and clindamycin topical lotion which i did not see much improvement with. I even tried nasal mupiricin ointment because my doctor thought it was staph. I had a culture done and the results came back negative for s. aureus, beta-hemolytic streptococcus, and p. aeruginosa.

Avatar f tn I am taking 400 mg of Spironolactone for acne and 10 mg of Klonopin once a day for anxiety. Can I take these drugs until I become pregnant? Or do I have to stop now? Also my husband had a vasectomy reversal August 2013 and I have one blocked tube can I get pregnant. GYN wants me to take clomid.
Avatar m tn Hi there, Any acne medication takes time to act and it is important to stick to particular regime for significant improvement. You should wash your face with a nonirritating, pH-balanced cleanser to decrease inflammation. Avoid scrubbing the face. Do not pop or pick at pimples. A correct nutritional balance and skin care will be helpful. Drink plenty of water every day. Take 7-8 hours of sleep daily. Have a balanced diet rich in vitamin A, zinc and rich in multivitamins.

Avatar m tn I am having Acne vulgaris on my face for the past seven years. Now I am 20 and I am Male. I used to take some ointments(clindamycin, benzoyl peroxide) but that had only temporary effects. Of late, I have started taking medications on the advice of a doctor who says that I have reached the Gr.IV satge of acne. Avatar n tn ve always had an even tone overall (with the exception of when I breakout and get the acne dark marks). I received a second opinion and my new dr. gave me clindamycin lotion and 6% benzyl peroxide cleanser but the problem has not changed. Can you please tell me what you think this may be? It's really affecting my self-esteem. I did some research and came across a condition called exogenous ochronosis or something like that which is irreversible. Could this be what's happening to me?
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm Rhyan, from the Philippines. Well, I'm an acne sufferer.. 3 months ago, I was perfectly looking good, my face was clear, there was pimples but you could rarely see them on my face and they were getting healed naturally and fast. But now, everything turned upside down, I had breakouts that almost covered my entire face by acne in just 3 months!

Avatar f tn I could only remember benzoyl peroxide, clindamycin phosphate lotion 1%, and retin-a. 10 years ago I took accutane for 4 months for mild/persistant acne. I have been sunburned about 4 or 5 times as a child and in my teens, but I am always wearing hats and sunglasses when outdoors to protect my face. When diagnosed by a PA for having tinea, I was prescribed oxistat (oxiconazole nitrate lotion 1%) and cutivate (fluticasone propionate lotion .05%).

Avatar f tn t even ask my name and prescribed doxycycline, clindamycin and retin-a. I have been using faithfully, but this acne is still SOOO itchy and painful to even move my face or to open my mouth to eat. I have no idea what happened all of the sudden and why it doesn't go away all of the sudden too! I think that I would take accutane because I am at a loss. Have tried so many things!!
