Avatar f tn Can anyone recommend an acne treatment for those cystic acne bumps that take forever to go away? I'm 46 and did Accutane in my 20s with pretty good results until the last several years. I've had the most success with Pro Active, but my skin got really itchy when I wore mineral powder makeup and I kept ruining towels, pillowcases and shirts. I've also tried Acne Free, Murad and Dermatologic plus prescription cream with no luck.

Avatar m tn Since I turned 25, I started getting pimples here and there. The acne worsened throughout the year into cystic acne on the cheeks when I moved overseas. I lived overseas for a year, then moved back to the states, where all my acne disappeared for two months. It returned again slowly, starting out with a small rash (which went away with Desonide Cream .05%), then milia/whiteheads all over my cheeks, and then red pimples with white pus spreading from my cheeks to my chin now.
Avatar n tn I appreciate the antibiotics, but they haven't done much for me either. But have you tried low percentage retin-a cream? This may be a solution for you. Applied at night, the thin layer of cream can do wonders in a matter of weeks, and over several months, there's a big improvement. I've used it as an acne treatment, and my 50+ age mother uses it for acne, wrinkles, and overall skin appearance. She looks fabulous for her age!

Avatar f tn I was also given some topical treatments, including a benzoyl peroxide wash and ketoconazole shampoo (used a body wash) to alternate with every day, and clindamycin topical lotion which i did not see much improvement with. I even tried nasal mupiricin ointment because my doctor thought it was staph. I had a culture done and the results came back negative for s. aureus, beta-hemolytic streptococcus, and p. aeruginosa.

Avatar f tn It commonly occurs on apocrine sweat gland-bearing skin such as in the groin, the underarms and under the breasts. It is also known as ‘acne inversa’. The disease can spread to genitals. It can also be due to staphylococcal skin infections. Wash skin with antiseptic lotions daily to decrease bacteria. Treatment is by topical antibiotics and steroids. Local antibiotics of erythromycin and Clindamycin group also help. Retenoid group of drugs also help. Wear loose fitting clothes.

Avatar n tn ve always had an even tone overall (with the exception of when I breakout and get the acne dark marks). I received a second opinion and my new dr. gave me clindamycin lotion and 6% benzyl peroxide cleanser but the problem has not changed. Can you please tell me what you think this may be? Avatar m tn Hi, I'm Rhyan, from the Philippines. Well, I'm an acne sufferer.. 3 months ago, I was perfectly looking good, my face was clear, there was pimples but you could rarely see them on my face and they were getting healed naturally and fast. But now, everything turned upside down, I had breakouts that almost covered my entire face by acne in just 3 months!

Avatar f tn I could only remember benzoyl peroxide, clindamycin phosphate lotion 1%, and retin-a. 10 years ago I took accutane for 4 months for mild/persistant acne. I have been sunburned about 4 or 5 times as a child and in my teens, but I am always wearing hats and sunglasses when outdoors to protect my face. When diagnosed by a PA for having tinea, I was prescribed oxistat (oxiconazole nitrate lotion 1%) and cutivate (fluticasone propionate lotion .05%).
Avatar f tn t even ask my name and prescribed doxycycline, clindamycin and retin-a. I have been using faithfully, but this acne is still SOOO itchy and painful to even move my face or to open my mouth to eat. I have no idea what happened all of the sudden and why it doesn't go away all of the sudden too! I think that I would take accutane because I am at a loss. Have tried so many things!!
Avatar f tn m using the clindamycin lotion twice daily, but progress has sort of plateaued. The clindamycin will get it to the point where it forms some new skin over the top but then starts to crack and peel again, and I'm back to square one. I've tried every lip balm, at the doctor's suggestion I tried a week of nothing but Vaseline, I've tried days of absolutely nothing, but it just stays every time.
Avatar n tn Hello, Without examination it is difficult confirming a diagnosis but it sounds like acne to me. Acne is due to an overactivity and plugging of the oil glands. Just keep you face clean by washing with a mild soap atleast twice a day.Pat it dry and do not rub it.Avoid picking or pressing the acne. You can also use Benzoyl peroxide 5% lotion or gel once at bedtime. An amount of lotion the size of a pea should be enough to cover most of your face.
