So, I am now on day 4 of Effexor and so far so good. No ups and downs like citalopram and no zomby on Mirtazapine. Hearing horror stories about Effexor though. Feeling good so I'm trying to not worry - I always thought I was not an anxious person, but now realizing that I internalize it. So hopefully this is a good mix for me. Just wanted to drop a line.

I think you will be fine, here is what I found on it: " Citalopram is the generic for Celexa and has an average half-life of approx 35 hrs, which means that it takes that long on average for the level in your blood stream to drop to half its initial value. On that basis, the level in your system would be approx 1/2 its initial value after 1 1/2 days and 1/4 its initial value after 3 days and so on.

how long does citalopram take to leave the body, i ve been off it for 10/11 days and have to do a pre employment drug screening .

My fiance and I are trying for a baby. I am on 20 mgs of Citalopram and 3 mgs of Risperidone. Is this an okay dosage to be on while you are pregnant? I read it is okay but to watch for neonatal side effects, which are quite scary and seem traumitising for the child. If I get my citalopram perscription reduced will it still have neo natal effects on our baby?

Hi guys - I 've been suffering from GAD for some time now and I've been taking citalopram for 2 weeks. I have dizzy spells during the day that come and go- I'm getting bit nervous cos of it- is this a normal side effect of the citalopram? Thanks !

It's possible, but not likely. I know several people who've been on citalopram (including myself) and there was no weight gain. However, weight gain is listed under possible side effects, so it does happen to some people. But it's not like mood stabilisers, where the weight gain is very likely. I wouldn't worry about it. Most things that are listed under the side effects of any given drug are very rare.

s are not 100% sure if it is this or something called Activation Syndrome which can cause similar symptoms and purly means that the body is getting use to the drug and building up in the system it can cause side effects. As soon as the body gets use to the drug the side effects stop, in some people it can be a week or two, others a couple of days, some months....cause everyone if different.

my husband is taking trazodone 100 mg and citalopram 40 mg and is very drowsy. should he take half doses of both medications?

He took me off the blood pressure meds and prescribed me citalopram. I am now on 20mgs of citalopram and 0.25mg clonazepam. I however still feel my pulse all the time, all over my body. And everytime i go to check my blood pressure i have an anxiety attack. Yesterday my first reading was 160/60 HR of 145 and then after 5 times it went down to 122/75 with HR of 88. So my questions are: why did my ekg say possible biatrial enlargment and the echo came back normal?

I've now been diagnosed with depression and was prescribed Prozac 10 mg which I'm afraid to take now because of the drug interactions I've seen on the internet with these two drugs. Hi, I was just prescribed Citalopram for some anxiety issues, I am currently taking Rhodiola to help with those issues, should I stop taking the Rhodiola and take the Citalopram exclusively or can/should I take both? Thanks!

I would question that with your Doc and find out some more detail as to why this was prescribed for panic attacks. The sister drug to Citalopram is Lexapro, which I have been prescribed for depression, but only because I am on 2 mg per day of Xanax, which is the common medication for panic attacks and anxiety.

I think thats why my doctor try the zoloft again because i am thinking i am itching and i am not really having reaction to the medicine but he said you do have sentitvie to medicine that why he had a backup medcine for me. my question is anybody taking Zoloft 25mm or Citalopram 20mm before and any side effects from these medicine? also any tips on controling my anxiety and depression ?

My doctor prescribed me nortriptyline and citalopram together, and people I know in the medical community tell me this is a bad combo, that they shouldnt be prescribed together. Is this correct?

Citalopram is a good drug and the side effects are pretty minimal for most. I would get a full check up to make sure you rule out bladder/kidneys infections. Anxiety can cause tummy troubles, I've had the trots from anxiety in the past, and I've had peed more from that as well. Hormones can go all out of wack from stress and anxiety - periods can be missed at times as well. So see your doc, let them do a full work up.

t find any information on longterm use of this drug and wondered if I am the only one who has been on it for this long and if I will need to be on it for the rest of my life and if so is it safe??? thank you for reading my post!

Yes I take citalopram and on the drug interaction list, you will see B vitamin supplements are a no no.

t know this drug but if you type in the name of the drug and side effects, or just the drug name, it should tell you all that, or the medhelp will bring up other member comments from the past on that drug.
