citalopram and nyquil

I was going to take NyQuil for it but then realized that on the warning it advises against certain anti depressants and I take Citalopram. can i take NyQuil if i have not taken my citalopram in a little over a week? I am coughing so hard that it is giving me a migraine and i cant drink anything or ill pee myself. I cant sleep because every time i lay down the cough gets worse.

I gained about 30 lbs on Citalopram. I work out and eat healthy. I just saw a new doctor and he believes the Citalopram is causing my weight gain. I have been on it for about 18 months. I am now taking half a pill of Citalopram in order to wean myself off of it. My doctor then prescribed me Bupropion HCL (take twice a day). He says that should help with weight loss. Has anyone had good experiences with Bupropion? Did you gain weight on Citalopram? Thanks!!!

Thanks Barb for responding, I have an appointment set up for a MMR shot with my DR office on Tuesday, so I will be talking with them about my sickness as well. I don't think I will be getting my shot either, just a guess. But I just need something to get me by the next 2 days and thought I'd find out about what the side effects were if I took the Nyquil, I just don't want any complications in the process. I took the Nyquil last night anyways and slept for awhile.

anti-histamines are most commonly used for allergies such as benadryl, but is often found in OTC sleep aids, and some older anti-histamines have anxiolytic effects, and many other uses. Taking nyquil every so often will help you get to sleep and stay a sleep due to a cold or irritation, but its not relally useful for insomnia. theres where more prescription sleepaids come into the mix, but enough rambling, your body will still burn calories while you sleep if you take nyquil...

I think it *is* likely your medicine extravaganza during your bronchitis may have temporarily elevated your liver enzymes. Just go get retested in a few weeks. Also, mixing Nyquil with the tylenol is a big no, no. Nyquil has alcohol and, when mixed with tylenol, can do (tah dah) exactly what happened to you! I'm sure one time won't damage your liver, but now you know! Take care.

Not nyquil. But if you have cold like a symptoms Tylenol makes cold and flu drowsy med and thats okay and it knocked me out.

I would certainly make a call to your pediatrician and tell them what happened , they may say keep and eye on the child or bring him in..good luck ...

Combining Alprax and Citalopram can cause central nervous system and respiratory depressant effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients. Please discuss with your doctor for alternate medications. In the meantime, I would strongly caution you not to drive or operate heavy machinery while on these medications as you might injure yourself or others. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Im 21 weeks and I just caught a cold my head hurts my nose is stuffed and every time I cough I feel the baby kick I feel like she's trying to signal me to stop bothering her lol ughh I miss nyquil lol

i take 800 mg of lithuim, 60mg of citalopram for my dipolar II disorder and 125mg of levothyroxine for my underactive thyrod i seem to have problems with my sex drive i never want it could it be the meds

Everyone reacts differently to medicines, and there maybe be a low percent side effect for what you are experiancing. Also, Nyquil does have some alcohol in it so make sure it is not interacting with another medication you are taking. I have been on medications before that require you do not take in any alcohol whatsoever, including cough syrup and mouth wash.

hello ladies. trying to find out if any of you guys have ever taken nyquil for your cold while pregnant. I feel like crap and i know nyquil would wipe it out but i'm too scared to take it.

Hi Sorry to burst your bubble but you will suffer withdrawals mine took a few weeks to kick in I came off effexor. But I know my group that Citalopram is not easy to come off you would be better going back on it and weaning off slowly follow cita's withdrawal programme my support group they are on the web.

Let me get this straight. You have a psychiatrist who took you off an antidepressant in just one week? And isn't dealing with the withdrawal problem? The minimum taper should have been six weeks from my experience. You also should research Buspar. See if you think it actually works much of the time. And if your anxiety is related to the heart problem, the beta blocker should theoretically at least have solved that problem.

Nyquil has alcohol in it so i know that was one of the reasons she told me not to take it....and both nyquil and dayquil i believe may have aspirin or something along those lines in them which isnt recommended during pregnancy.

I had been on citalopram which work great 4my anxiety and deppresion.im nw pregnant.1st i got told to stop cold turkey with the citalopram which i did but i start getting extreme anxiety after afew weeks.and dr put me on prozac which is ment to be less risky during pregnancy.ive been on it 4 2weeks now.ive seen no improvement and im scared it will harm baby.i have constant physical anxiety all day my heart races and my chest has this horrible feeling of dread.help! no! NYQUIL is not physically addictive and you won't suffer from withdrawals. And its not dangerous to take two Nyquil every night....after a long period of time you could get Liver damage but almost all sleeping medacine have that warning. It's more dangerous to drink 1 beer every night than it is if you take two Nyquil every night lol....there is less alcohol in two nyquil caps than there is in 1 beer....so your not at all in danger...
