1717039 tn?1308891770 I have PCOS which I am taking Metformin and an antidepressant (Citalopram) for. I am also taking vitamin D for a deficiency. Do any of these medications decrease the effectiveness of my birth control pill (Zarah)?
Avatar f tn I am not sure why this is but I assure you that you are not in this boat alone. I take birth control along with medications and my doctor told me that they will not cause any issues between each other. I hope this was of some help.
Avatar m tn I was just diagnosed with anxiety issues and they put me on xanax for the panic attacks that I can't control and also Citalopram for the daily use to keep me mello. They say I won't feel the full effect for a couple of weeks but I can feel like it's doing something because I don't have any attacks until about an half hour before I need to take my pill. So anyway I hope this helps, good luck.
Avatar f tn I gained about 30 lbs on Citalopram. I work out and eat healthy. I just saw a new doctor and he believes the Citalopram is causing my weight gain. I have been on it for about 18 months. I am now taking half a pill of Citalopram in order to wean myself off of it. My doctor then prescribed me Bupropion HCL (take twice a day). He says that should help with weight loss. Has anyone had good experiences with Bupropion? Did you gain weight on Citalopram? Thanks!!!
Avatar f tn I wasnt sure if i wanted to take a anti-dep again as the last few ive tried have slight and reversed affects so wasnt to sure and also i thought it would only mask the problem. but after huge waves of depression due to the lack of energy, fatiuge ect i was totaly exhasted so i started to take this new citalopram the doctor prescribed. I have been taking them for 4 weeks now and already am felling really good. Infact i cant belive the vast improvement.
Avatar m tn Hi, Ive have just been prescribed Citalopram today. And im just wondering if anyone else has used these previously?
Avatar m tn t take) The next day i went to work and was fine, however i got anxious about what had happened the night before and i decided to go home and see my family doctor. I went through all the blood tests and another ekg. Everything came back fine except my ekg said "borderline sinus tachycardia with possible biatrial enlargement" My BP at the doctors office was also around 160/70 with a pulse around 155 I was put on diuretic and ace inhibitor until the results of my echocardiogram.
Avatar f tn i dont know if i should get the mirena out, but i am miserable i had a bad reaction to birth control pills and am allergic to latex, plus im in a very long term commited relationship and we both dont want to use latex free condoms but i dont want to have another baby anytime soon, maybe never but im not positive so i dont want to get my tubes tied. what do u think it is, what should i do?
Avatar n tn Combining Alprax and Citalopram can cause central nervous system and respiratory depressant effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients. Please discuss with your doctor for alternate medications. In the meantime, I would strongly caution you not to drive or operate heavy machinery while on these medications as you might injure yourself or others. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone I started having severe anxiety attacks two month ago, though I have suffered with anxiety my whole life. I have been on Citalopram for four days now and the side effects seems to be increasing. I am on a small dose, one quarter of a 20 mg tablet. I am suppose to go up to one half of a 20 mg tab today but am afraid to. I am jittery, have headaches, am groggy but panic when I try to sleep, have heat flashes through my upper body, my eyes feels strange...the list goes on.
Avatar f tn i know that different types of anti depressants are perscrbed for different symptoms, but if it helps i described mine as a feeling of having no control and being in a hole. i couldnt get out and get on with my life. i felt like i needed to control everything and when i couldnt i had major anxiety attacks. i found that Celexa was mild and easy to go onto. it took about a month to feel a real change, but it was a smooth transition.
Avatar f tn i take 800 mg of lithuim, 60mg of citalopram for my dipolar II disorder and 125mg of levothyroxine for my underactive thyrod i seem to have problems with my sex drive i never want it could it be the meds
1189408 tn?1264604995 I've had an abnormally heavy period for a month now. At 3 weeks, I had bloodwork done as well as a pelvic and vaginal ultrasound. I was told that my ovaries aren't working (low progesterin??) and that the lining of my uterus was 9mm thick. The only plan my doctor has given me so far is to put me on bcp. My questions are, is 9mm to thick after a 3 week heavy period? (super plus tampon needing changed every 2-3 hours) and should I get a second opinion, or is taking bcp the best option?
Avatar f tn I have heard about the patch and the IUD and wanted to know all about them or any other really effective birth control. I don't want anything that will increase my acne, weight, or flow. I have bad acne and flow as it is.
360318 tn?1340393363 So my question is should I get on birth control? How will this effect the way I act and the way I feel? I have heard bad stories about the pill, and that it makes you really cranky, and I am already cranky once I ovulate, and I am worried my boyfriend will leave me if I am more cranky, because he has threatened to leave a few times when I had ovulated and had been cranky.
Avatar f tn I would never recommend the depo shot. I was on it for a year and ever since ive had bad headaches and problems with my bones aching. It ***** the calcium out of your bones and I was always small (110-115 pounds) before I started it and it made me gain weight I was never able to keep off and stayed around 140 when before I could never even make myself gain weight. It totally messed up my body and periods and I bled for 2-3 weeks everytime I had to get the next shot.
Avatar f tn I've never used birth control because I don't want my hormones messed up, and I've heard it making people bleed heavier and longer so I never wanted to do that. But now I'm about to have my second child, and I don't want anymore. Tubal is out of the question because the Dr won't do it at 23 yrs old. Sooooo I need some birth control options that are safe and lasts a while. Any good ones?
7670156 tn?1401987192 Hi ladies, I know we're all pregnant and all, but yesterday at my check up my doctor said I should start thinking about what kind of birth control I want after my baby girl is here. I've never been on birth control (and still did very well, baby was planned) what do you ladies suggest worked best for you? I don't want to worry about another baby for a long while at least a few years. And that implant that goes in your arm scares me.
Avatar f tn I just stuck with the pill because I could remember to take it at the same time every day reguardless if what works best for you remember, no birth control is %100 effective. I got pregnant with my son on 5 years of religious birth control. And my friends mom got pregnant with an iud. Birth control and protected sex is always your best bet!
Avatar f tn The only birth control ive ever taken was the pill and it made me sick alot. Honestly the right birth control depends on the person. For example if they can go get the show every three months or if they are good with taking a pill every day. Its all aboit what you are comfortable with.
Avatar f tn If your still on the birth control still and you believe it's made this worse talk to your doctor about coming off the birth control and see whether there's any other birth control that will be better suited
Avatar f tn i was on the pill, shot and patch and i ended up pregnant all three times, posible u could be if u dont get ur period or its close to get ur peroid if u are worried i would get a test and check and if so check a couple more times i sure did 5 each time and then went to the doc and took a test there to and then i was.
Avatar f tn My friend told me it only took a few days and I believed her because she is on birth control also. The papers that came with them didn't tell me how long. Right after I had sex, I started getting headache's everyday. Is that a sign of pregnancy or is it just the pills causing them? And is how long for sure does it take to get in your system?
