i was diagnosed with sleep insomnia, ptsd, panic disorder, and major depresive disorder a little over a yr. ago. at first, the dr's just had me on a low dose of zoloft to see if it would help. tho it did help with the depression and a little with the anxiety, i still couldn't sleep. after raising the dose of my zoloft a few more times, and trying seroquil, the dr's finally put me on ambien when i couldn't sleep.

I quit drinking alcohol over 2 years ago. I started on an antidepressant, Citalopram 20mg daily, and Ambien 5 mg. daily. I started in college and I am having some of the best times (I'm 54). I have been very successful, Presidential HOnor roll, difficult classes, etc. I have been on these pills for almost 2 years. The citalopram has a disclosure that it can cause sleepiness. My older brother said when he took Ambien it made him lose his memory. I am starting to struggle with forgetfulness.

Long story short. I was put on ambien, Xanax, and citalipram around 8 years ago. Not educating myself and being in an unhappy marriage I was desperate. Did not do My homework. Just took them! I have recently been tapering off. 6 Months of this. I am down to 10 mg of citalopram. My anxiety is off the charts. I honestly think I am in the middle of a nervous breakdown. The hardes thing is I am having complete panic attacks when I sleep.

I am not sure what is exactly wrong with me and i am convinced that my doctors are not completely sure either. i currently take: * lamictal *citalopram *xanex *risperdone *ambien... its still hard to focus but its a different impedement on the meds its not the same kind of distraction or process. i want to stop taking them but i know how bad things are when i am not on them.

I gained about 30 lbs on Citalopram. I work out and eat healthy. I just saw a new doctor and he believes the Citalopram is causing my weight gain. I have been on it for about 18 months. I am now taking half a pill of Citalopram in order to wean myself off of it. My doctor then prescribed me Bupropion HCL (take twice a day). He says that should help with weight loss. Has anyone had good experiences with Bupropion? Did you gain weight on Citalopram? Thanks!!!

My doctor put me on Ambien and it really helps with the anxiety at bed time so i can at least sleep peacefully for 4 hours. I love the way it makes me feel all relaxed and nothing can go wrong, yea but it stopped working and i dont want to take more then 5mg. I also dont want to become dependent on it for sleep everynight, but i have become dependent on it. I have been taking somekind of benzo or sleep aid for the past 2 yrs.

I take a clonazepam at night for restless and OTC unison and I cannot drive in the morning because I fall asleep. I am 85 I sleep till about 4:00 is it the medicines I take. I never had this before. I had a complete blood test, I Do not know how to handle this, Is it the sleeping pill or clonazepam.

Because of difficult circumstances, I've been forced to stop my medications cold turkey. I take 20 mg of citalopram (celexa) and Depakote (I forgot the dose but it's calibrated to my weight) for depression and mood stabilization and I've been experiencing alarmingly strange and uncomfortable side effects of the withdrawal. I feel sluggish, weak, and dizzy. I feel like my head is both floating and too heavy.

Combining Alprax and Citalopram can cause central nervous system and respiratory depressant effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients. Please discuss with your doctor for alternate medications. In the meantime, I would strongly caution you not to drive or operate heavy machinery while on these medications as you might injure yourself or others. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

i take 800 mg of lithuim, 60mg of citalopram for my dipolar II disorder and 125mg of levothyroxine for my underactive thyrod i seem to have problems with my sex drive i never want it could it be the meds

Hi Sorry to burst your bubble but you will suffer withdrawals mine took a few weeks to kick in I came off effexor. But I know my group that Citalopram is not easy to come off you would be better going back on it and weaning off slowly follow cita's withdrawal programme my support group they are on the web.

Ambien will help you get some sleep so yes I would say it is good. I worked for a Dr. before and the highest dose I saw given was a total of 12mg. So if the tab was 6mg then the patient could take 2. Taking 2 10mg of ambien seems a little high to me.Maybe someone else could answer better than me. I am one of those people that ambien doesn't work. I have tried Ambien cr, Lunesta (sp?) and regular Ambien and still couldn't get any sleep.

Let me get this straight. You have a psychiatrist who took you off an antidepressant in just one week? And isn't dealing with the withdrawal problem? The minimum taper should have been six weeks from my experience. You also should research Buspar. See if you think it actually works much of the time. And if your anxiety is related to the heart problem, the beta blocker should theoretically at least have solved that problem.

I'm no doctor, so I definitely can't give you any medical information on Ambien, but I can relay my personal experience with it. I've been on Ambien (currently 10mg) for SEVERAL years now (5 or more). I have many chronic pain conditions, including fibroymalgia. One of the major symptoms of fibro is insomnia - which I definitely suffer from!

Does she think it's an issue? Personally,I think Ambien is a dangerous drug to be taking all the time. But,if she can't sleep and hasn't increased her dose for a year,then this is her lifestyle. I don't agree with it either but I know insomnia can be just horrible. There are other things she can take. If she wants to try it, suggest Melatonin and Valerian root. It's safe and it works for a lot of people. However,anyone on SSRI's should avoid Melatonin.

Hello mom and welcome. Heroin and ambien are both central nervous system depressants. Taken together it is very dangerous as they both depress the respiratory and central nervous system. How old is your son? Does he live with you? How long has he been Abusing drugs for?

At least 6-7 years at a pop and can stop it with very mild consequences. Some lack of sleep and maybe some headaches and neck/back pain but really nothing. Try OTC Advil pm or something maybe.

I started having really days around the third or fourth week after starting tx. Along with insomnia, it was making life pretty black at times. My Dr gave me Celexa and Ambien and around seven days later the Celexa started to kick in and made things much better. I was resistant to taking anything other than tx drugs, but I am glad that I did. It does seem that some people need different ADs than others and some of us don't respond to them much at all.

my psychiatrist gave me citalopram, after taking citalopram i started felling better, and after couple months i was 99.9% cured. depression had gone, i had high self esteem again feel confident for my self i could do anything.no more panic attacks, i realized that nothing is wrong with my heart and no more agoraphobia.i start doing things again in my life, i was not sitting all day in my room and thinking about it.all those bad thoughts had been disappeared.

I had been on citalopram which work great 4my anxiety and deppresion.im nw pregnant.1st i got told to stop cold turkey with the citalopram which i did but i start getting extreme anxiety after afew weeks.and dr put me on prozac which is ment to be less risky during pregnancy.ive been on it 4 2weeks now.ive seen no improvement and im scared it will harm baby.i have constant physical anxiety all day my heart races and my chest has this horrible feeling of dread.help! What can i do to ease this?

Xanax is not a sleep aid. Get some Ambien!!! Sleep is very importsnt during tx, please call your doc and get some Ambien.

Hi I switched from Fluoxetine to Citalopram about 6 months ago as the Fluoxetine was making me gain weight. Since I've been on Citalopram I've put on even more, and am now about 2 stone (14kg) heavier than I was before I started. I don't want to come off ADs as they're helping me so much, but at the same time I don't know if I can cope with any more weight gain. Has anyone experienced weight gain with certain antidepressants then been able to lose with a different one?

I experienced the same thing. I gained about 30 lbs on citalopram within 18 months.I work out and eat healthy. I knew something was wrong. Well I saw a new doctor and he is weaning me off citalopram (1/2 a pill a day). He thinks it made me gain weight. I kmow take wellbutrin (twice a day). I hope this helps me lose the weight.
