Ciprodex swimmers ear

Common Questions and Answers about Ciprodex swimmers ear

ciprodex

93654 tn?1247499334 My understanding is that ciprodex is an ear drop so you definitely need to stop using it in the eye. It may have a different pH than eye drops and might cause significant irritation - but not usually a major problem. Please have your doctor make you an appointment with an ophthalmologist and explain to the primary care docor that the ciprodex drops are not for the eye.
Avatar n tn Excellent advice, merceditas. Ciprodex otic is an antibiotic ear drop that combines the antibiotic ciprofloxacin with the glucocorticoid steroid dexamethasone. While both of these things are safe to use on a dog, human-strength drugs are often too strong to be used on our much-smaller four-legged companions, and what starts out as a well-meaning gesture quickly turns into a medical emergency far bigger than the original problem.
Avatar m tn Good to see you are improving. Try to keep the ear dry. To ease ear pain, apply a warm washcloth or a heating pad set on low. Follow the instructions for ear drops and complete your antibiotic course. You can use OTC Acetaminophen also for relief from pain. And Good Luck with your surgery. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn It usually does take some time to get better but hopefully you are on the road to recovery. Now that you have tubes in your ears be extra careful not to get water in your ears when you shower and it's best not to submerge your whole head in a pool or jacuzzi because that can cause another infection.I noticed your other post about the circle. My husband hasn't had any problem with dry mouth he just hates the taste of it when it drains down his throat.
Avatar m tn Hey! So this all started about two months ago when I decided it would be a good idea to self-irrigate my ear after experiencing a lot of wax. I got a syringe and some warm water and just started blasting into my right ear canal. It didn't end up being successful as the wax never actually did come out, but I then started having earaches that have never fully healed. I've been to the doctor 4 times since then.
Avatar m tn s/lupus trigered by ear infection 2)adverse reaction to ciprodex since i might have overdosed 3) rheumatic fever since my ear infection was lingering for a couple of months until it was fully cured? which one is more likely? I am dying. I am thinking about getting something to take and die. I live in Canada and here it takes months until you see a specialist. I have an appointment with a rhematologist in a couple of months. I just cant take it anymore. please help me.
Avatar n tn big difference between swimmers ear and herpes. swimmers ear is just a bacterial infection of the outer ear.
Avatar m tn Left eyelid started twitching few days after ear infection/CiproDex treatment. Gradually, I started having tingling in my legs. Also had three panic attacks with heart beat +180 bpm. diagnosed with borderline hyperthyroidism (TSH 0.32 and FT4 24) and all symptoms were attributed to thyroid problem. The thyroid is back to normal now without any thyroid meds.

1899725 tn?1321500363 My 8 year son has had an ear infection for 5 weeks now. We've gone through a course of Ciprodex otic drops and a course of Neomycin/Polymyxin B ear drops. He's also been on Keflex and Augmentin. The doctor keeps telling me it's "swimmer's ear" or "just an ear infection" and should go away soon. 5 weeks of dealing with my child hurting is not soon enough. I'm actually a pediatic RN and know that this is not normal.
Avatar f tn (Letting gravity take over by laying on my side, chewing gum while laying on my side, hydrogenperoxide, rubbing alcohol, rubbing alcohol with vinegar and even over the counter swimmers ear drops.) My ear canal is sore and still nothing has helped. It’s annoying and things that friends have had worked aren’t working for me. Help!
446156 tn?1275859576 They said that I have a ear infection. They gave me antibiotics an ear drops that are used for swimmers ear. I could not buy the other ear drops that they gave me. Medicaid would not cover it so it was $173.76. The pain was horrible last night. I took some tylenal an it helped a little. Dose any one know of any thing that I can take. I can feel my heart beat an fluid behind my ear. Please help. Its driving me crazy.
Avatar m tn Fluid behind the ear is secondary to infection in the throat or nose which can cause a backwater effect and block a tube called eustachian tube (which has easy access to ear, nose and throat and lies at the back of the nose) and thereby leads to absorption of air in the middle ear and it is replaced by a sterile fluid in the middle ear.If your ear drum is intact, then the two infections are not related to one incident.
Avatar f tn My b.f. had what was diagnosed as severe swimmers ear when he was about 9/10 y.o. The treatment that stopped it after failed meds/drops involved some sort of contraption that shot water(?) into his ear while he was literally strapped down. Afterwards he vomitted for awhile and remembers the SE being cured. He has been suffering from what was diagnosed as swimmers ear again at around 16yo. Drops were prescribed but as soon as they were stopped it comes back. It has been 11 years now.
Avatar f tn http://www.newsvine.com/_news/2011/05/19/6675477-swimmers-ear-medical-costs-total-500m-a-year Thu May 19, 2011 12:16 PM EDT Mike Stobbe, AP Medical Writer ATLANTA — The first national estimates of swimmer's ear say it causes about 2.4 million trips to doctors and hospitals in a year. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also said swimmer's ear cases amounted to about $500 million in annual medical costs — or roughly $200 per visit.
Avatar n tn Its not swimmers ear or sinus ? I have the same issues.
Avatar f tn The alcohol absobs the water/gets the water out of your ear and the vinegar puts the acidity back in your ear. I had swimmers ear alot when I was younger and my niece has it right now. I used this mixture every time I went swimming too, to prevent it from occuring. I am sorry you have it. I know how painful it is.

Avatar n tn Ent relented and gave me Ciprodex ear drops. Began using 3 daya ago, they seem to help, especially first 2days, but the antibiotics I was on at the time, the prescribed term to use them was up! Now the drops don't seem as effective??? In the interim saw my family doctor, she looked in both ears, said the one ear, ear dum is clear, like saran wrap, the ear that I'm having the problem with, she said looks pink and thicker, she didn't seem to have an answer!!! Any ideas???
Avatar f tn it could be fluid buildup like swimmers ear...not sure but that would be my guess.
Avatar m tn last night i was experiencing what seemed to feel like swimmers ear on the right side, and when i woke up i still have ear pain but when i ran my fingers through the top right of my hair my scalp felt like some one was pulling on my hair on this one small spot. would my ear pain be triggering this?
Avatar n tn $% nd the doctor first told me it was swimmers ear nd he gave me that ciproflexon crap nd it dont work at all any sugestions people im in sever pain plz HELP AWWWW !!!!!!!
Avatar f tn I would call back and ask. Swimmers ear takes a long time to heal but otitis media should feel better pretty quickly after you start on a medication. What Rx are you on?
517095 tn?1214422127 My Son Lives in Milton Keynes, could be sinus trouble or an allergy, Make sure your ear is dried well after Showering or swimming , there is something called swimmers ear can make them itchy, go online and see you can get some drops in the Drugstore for that.Could be linked to the taste in the throat, get the Doc to check it out.
13598916 tn?1430685515 Well lots of chiarians fly to a different state to find a NS, so I know you can fly. Not really sure of the effects since everyone is different. I do know that most of us have had our Chiari since birth (unless yours was acquired due to tumor or something), so probably not much different from any other flight if you have flown b4. I'm sure you may experience some pressure/headache issues & ear stuffiness may be more of a problem.
1458533 tn?1285685681 also it could easily be an ear infection i have experienced those symptoms when i get ear infections, i get chronic ones all the time and they always turn out to be swimmers ear for some reason, even though i am not a swimmer. Those are similar symptoms to meningitis also. You don't always have to have all the symptoms of something to have it, and sometimes symptoms might not be connected at all and you could treat them separately.
