19731013 tn?1556048587 If this has been going on for so long, you really need to see a doctor. In general, wouldn't think a headphone could be that lodged to do anything. If you read through the following, you do not seem to have the symptoms of perforated eardrum. It does not sound like this is the case. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/ruptured-eardrum/symptoms-causes/syc-20351879. Could you have had an abrasion inside your ear? I'm not sure.
Avatar f tn If an eardrum damage happens, can an ent see the damage even one week later?
Avatar m tn Hello, A detailed medical evaluation may be necessary for accurate diagnosis and management of your condition. The symptoms and prognosis vary in each individual. A perforated eardrum will usually heal by itself within 6-8 weeks. It is a skin-like structure and usually heals. Your doctor may prescribe antibiotic medicines if there is an infection or risk of infection developing in the middle ear when the eardrum is healing.
Avatar m tn My daughter had both ears impacted, I was given some carbamide peroxide drops to use on her for 4 days in hopes to loosen up the wax and remove the blockage, 1 side responded on day one by having a large chunk of wax roughly the size of a tic tac maybe slightly larger fall out. If I look inside her ear this is what I see (http://i.imgur.com/gnj3wpA.
Avatar m tn When I was a child I had tubes put in my ears due to frequent ear infections. The left tube ruptured my eardrum on that side, and it never healed. I've had tinnitus and hearing loss in that ear ever since, but I've learned to live with it. Fast forward to a week ago. I'd been having a wax buildup in the ear with the perforated ear drum. It was causing pain and blockage. I went to a walk-in clinic, the doctor I saw said there was a lot of wax and wanted to clean it out.
Avatar m tn Hi, as you are aware by now, that the cause for your tinnitus is the perforated ear drum. This has to heal for the tinnitus to resolve. This may take time and this depends on the size of the perforation and if there are any other causes like persisting infections. Sometimes "white noise" may help suppress the sound so that it's less bothersome using an electronic device. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
Avatar n tn I have had an ear infection for a week with a perforated eardrum. It came on really fast, and was pretty painful, so I went to urgent care and started antibiotics the day this started. I am wondering if it is normal for my ear to still be leaking clear/yellowish fluid after a week? It has improved, as it used to be bloody fluid. I just started a new job and my health inurance won't kick in for a month, so I'm paying out of pocket every time I see a health care professional.
Avatar m tn Could it be the eardrum?? How can I test on my own of the eardrum is perforated or not and if it is how long does it take to heal itself?? And the other ear which is swollen shut doesn't allow any fluid to come out of the ear...I feel all the fluid remains in the ear canal. What can I do to get it out the canal?? The doctor told me dont use any more cotton buds so I wont. I ask any expert to please help me out here.
Avatar f tn If you keep using the ciprodex and gently blow to loosen the debris hopefully it will flow out thru your EustacIan tube and alleviate the tunnel sound. My husband has experienced the same problems and they have improved over time but you have to keep working at it. We aren't doctors but my husband has been thru it so hopefully this will help.
Avatar m tn my son has perforated eardrum and was given hydrocortisone otic drops.the first 6 days when i put the drops he seems fine but now on the seventh day when i put the drops he`s crying ,its like he`s feeling some burning sensation or maybe stinging..i dont know what he really feels..he`s only 21 mos.my question is ..is that normal..after 6 days of drops suddenly he feels uncomfortable?
Avatar f tn My eardrum was recently punctured due to a forceful irrigation in the doctor's office. His treatment includes my irrigating the ear once a day with peroxide and then a mixture of alcohol and vinegar. When I complained to him that it hurt if I did it with any force, he told me that was okay and I should "taste" it. All other info I read says that if one has a perforated eardrum, you should keep the ear canal dry. Do I need to get a second opinion? I would appreciate any advice.
Avatar n tn Essentially the ENT will graft a new piece onto the eardrum and the remaining eardrum should grow over the grafted piece. The effectiveness of this operation is dependant on how large the perforation (hole) is and how much tympanic membrane (eardrum) is left. Anyway for now your son has natures own grommet (PE tube) and probably a little more suseptible to infection but I have managed many children that do okay with a perforation until it grows back or is operated on.
Avatar m tn My concern is that most of what I read states that Tympanoplasty is done for folks with eardrum perforations and infections. I understand that my eardrum is severely scared but not perforated. The sole reason for me having this surgery is to improve my hearing. I currently have no pain or other issues with my ears. In your opinion is this procedure excessive for what I want to achieve? My procedure is scheduled for March 20, 2008.
18383999 tn?1464446676 There is something wrong but I do not know whether it will heal by itself or whether I need antibiotics. From what I was reading, it seems like a have a perforated eardrum and it is possible that I damaged my eardrum because i do try to clean earwax often, but I thought it would have been healed by now, but it hasn't. There is no pain, but a bit of discomfort. I am wondering if I possibly have an ear infection or something else?
Avatar m tn On Monday morning I woke with an ear infection. I went to the doctor right away and was given Otic Edge, told to continue an antibiotic I was already on, to call if it wasn't felling better in a couple of days, and to schedule a recheck for a week later. Thursday, my ear still felt plugged, I was getting sharp pains, and ringing so I went back to the doctor. He said that there is alot of drainage in there and it kinda looked like swimmer's ear.
1729448 tn?1342094737 everytime i take a shower water gets in my ears and wont come out and i have to use peroxide after. i had that a few hours ago and about an hour or 2 ago i was laying down and this throbbing/stabbing pain in my right ear started out of nowhere. throbbing and stabbing is the only way i know how to describe it. all i know is i think its getting worse but it could be just cuz it hurts and its soooo annoying.
Avatar m tn The common causes of ear discharge are eczema, otitis externa, otitis media, mastoiditis or a ruptured or perforated eardrum. An ear examination may be helpful for determining the correct cause of your symptoms. Treatment will depend on the underlying cause. If the doctor suspects it to be an infection he may take a sample of the ear drainage and send it to a lab for examination and recommend anti-inflammatory or antibiotic medicines. Do write to me again. Best luck and regards!
Avatar m tn my son have perforated eardrum and its been 2 weeks now.i put cotton ball and put strips to his ear and i put another adhesive in his ear to make sure water not get in.but after he took a bath i notice the the strips is wet and the cooton ball as well..i panick and check his ear right away.is it possible that the water might get in into his ear?...coz i dont want him to have infection...
Avatar m tn Also had three panic attacks. diagnosed with borderline hyperthyroidism (TSH 0.32 and FT4 24) and all symptoms were attributed to thyroid problem. The thyroid is back to normal now without any thyroid meds. In the past 8 months, I have been on Wellbutrin (300 mg per day for 3 weeks), Lorazepam (3 mg per day for 3 months) and propranolol (40 mg per day irregularly for 1 month). While I was taking all these meds, most symptoms disappeared.
