Avatar n tn Following that, I returned for analysis week later and urine revealed still some infection as well as blood in urine. Two week dosage of Cipro was given to me. Returned after the 2 weeks and the latest urine analysis showed no infection but still some blood in the urine. Doctor felt it could be a kidney cyst, kidney stones or prostatitis. My question is surrounding my initial diagnosis.
Avatar n tn I looked up ureaplasma and mycoplasma as common causes of urethritis and prostatitis, but the doctor told me that cipro would have killed those bacterias, especially 34 days of cipro. I tried looking it up on the internet but I cant find anything that says cipro is used to treat ureaplasma and mycoplasma. What else can I do? I am tired of going to all these doctors and nobody being able to tell me what i have. Is there a test that i should take?
Avatar n tn 8 with some groin pain and some burning. My intern did a DRE and said normal. He gave me 30 days cipro. I saw a difference for the first two weeks and then it went back to symptoms My urologist said he felt a soft but rubbery spot which he felt 1.5 years ago and seems the same, and also said I had micro blood in urine . he gave me cipro but I asked for levequin for 30 more days. Urologist wants to do a biopsy, a cat scan and a cystoscopy.
Avatar f tn 5 last June (tested one month after a course of cipro for unrelated inflammation of jpouch) to 8.8 a week ago (tested 18 days after a week of trimethoprim for a suspected urine infection, no bacteria present but white blood cells). He has urgency to urinate, weak flow which can stop and start. Dribbling and one episode of complete incontinence when caught out with no toilet near. Consultant has given him 2 weeks cipro and will retest PSA in about 4 to 6 weeks time. Says prostatitis is likely?
Avatar f tn I have a history of prostatitis back in April of 2016 which I took care of with a month worth of Cipro 500mgx2 a day. Early this June,I started having discomfort and an urge to urinate after sexual intercourse with female unprotected (I'm uncircumcised if worth noting) starting the day after and suddenly went away. I blamed my symptoms on the alcohol on the account that I had been drinking heavy the night before.
Avatar n tn I was just diagnosed with prostatitis. I'm a 30 year old male who has had the following steady symptoms for the past few years: frequent urination, incomplete urination, ED/low libido, mid pelvic/perenial pain, testicular pain. My urologist did blood tests (clear), hormone tests (clear), testicular ultrasound (clear), urine test (negative for bacteria) and a rectal exam (swollen/enlarged prostate). He prescribed me CIPRO for 30 days.
Avatar m tn So I went to the doctor and did a urine test which was negative for bacteria. So I was given 10 days of cipro. I took the cipro as indicated and still was not better, also started having testicle pain, pelvic pain, lower back pain perineal pain, and abdominal pain, also felt like prostate was inflamed. I had no discharge and did not burn when urinating. I went back to the doctor and was told I had prostatitis. Psa was normal and dre was normal.
Avatar m tn Slight indication of infection/soreness at incisor site prior to cipro. Docs not back till tomorrow, do I not ingest todays dosage?
Avatar n tn If your partner is taking Cipro, then getting him tested won't help much, as it will most likely be negative anyway. Instead, YOU should be tested. Yes, there is a very good chance that his prostatitis is due to a STD, given this set of circumstances. And if you still have something and don't receive treatment, you will only reinfect him. The majority of females with bacterial STDs have no symptoms.
Avatar n tn Hi Antibiotic therapy is given for acute/chronic bacterial Prostatitis, but it is also used in non bacterial Prostatitis. Which type of Prostatitis do you have? The duration of antibiotic therapy depends upon the type of prostatitis; for acute it may be for few weeks, chronic is for 6-12 weeks. You can discuss with your doctor about other antibiotics such as doxycycline, sulfa drugs or ofloxacin.
Avatar n tn I went to the urologist and he sent for a test on my urine for STDs, I am really scare because he mention Chlamedia and may be a cause for the prostatitis. I discontinued the Bactrim after a week due to alergy end was giving Cipro 500mg. Is Cipro effective for Chlamedia on a 14 Days twice a day dose?
Avatar n tn After two days of treatment, I developed side effects to the Cipro (muscle and joint pain). I was taken off the Cipro and was put on Augmentin (twice a day) for 21 days, which I began taking today. My urologist advised me that if the Augmentin does not work, then there is not a whole lot he can do to improve my condition given that there are no other antibiotics that could be helpful. I just got a PSA done, and I am awaiting the results.
Avatar n tn The doctor did inserting something on my back to diagnose Prostatitis. I was treated with both Doxy and Cipro, each for 10 days. But they did not help. Can this have long term side effects on joints? Yes, I was tested for RA (Rheumatoid arthritis) which came as negative. But I see in some web sites saying it is hard to diagnose if it is Reiter's syndrome. Now I don't have any pain in my testicles or penis. But the pain is very severe in my hand in all the joints.
Avatar f tn A few days later I started to have a tingling sensation, like I had to pee, so I went to an urgent care and they gave me Cipro for prostatitis. I had an STD screen three days into my Cipro cycle and it came back negative. I completed the 10 day cycle of Cipro, had a 7 day cycle of Doxocycline due to symptoms persisting, and then had another test done 4 days after the completion of Doxocycline. All tests were negative. I am currently back on Cipro after seeing a urologist.
Avatar m tn Now 5-6 days into medication cipro seems to be helping a bit. I tried masturbation today to test the waters and now I feel worse. I really don't feel it as much the moment I wake up in the morning and it seems to be more noticeable as day progresses. My Questions: 1. Since this was a high risk encounter, should I be retested for above STDs? 2. Does this sound like Prostatitis? Or what could it be? 2a. I heard prostatitis is hard to cure is that true?
Avatar n tn The problem persisted and while on vacation last week I had to call in and see if I could get some anti-biotics cause from what I read on the web maybe I had Prostatitis. What happened was the burning was getting more frequent and lasting longer during the day and I started having a dull ache in my testicles. They are not sore or any king of mass or lumps. That was the only symptoms. No problems going, discoloration, no frequent urge to go etc.
Avatar m tn Should I just accept this is coincidental prostatitis and push through the side effects of the cipro? I feel like I should get tested for everything now. Will the cipro result in false negatives for any of the above? It always feels like there is something in my urethra. Pressure when urinating, but irritation all the time and pain at the tip.
Avatar n tn I was unable to get treatment for 5 weeks after intercourse and I now have prostatitis. I am being treated with 500mg of cipro, 2x daily for two weeks. One of my lingering symptoms is pain during urination. My urethra is irritated and it seems stretched out. When I have an erection, the tip of my penis (urethra) stetches open. Will this go away once my prostatitis goes away and I no longer have urethritis?
Avatar n tn Will the azithromycin clear up NGU other than Chlamydia?
Avatar n tn My urine test was negative for any bacteria. Put me on cipro for a month. During cipro the pain in the tip of my penis was gone but I always maintained that low grade lower abdominal pain. After the cipro within two days the pain got worse. So now he has me on septra. I've been on it for a few days but i still have that low grade abdominal pain some frequency and altered sensation at the tip of my penis. what should i do?
Avatar n tn ” I’m not sure what that meant but he said I had prostatitis and gave me a 10 day cycle of cipro. The cipro took away all the symptoms in about 4 days. On the fifth day, I went back to the urologist for a cystoscopy to make sure the bladder was OK, which it was. I told him the cipro worked and he gave me 10 more days to be sure. After the 20 days, I felt good. About 3 days later, I had a day where I felt like it was coming back but it didn’t.
Avatar f tn Vannessa They did preform both a first urine and DRE. No white cells until they ran the DRE then they found them. They also ran urine test for Gonna and Cly both of which came back negative. They also ran an HIV blood test which came back negative. At the end of the initial exam they gave me a painful shot and put me on Doxy for 14 days. After about four days my testes and under side of the penis became warm and the problems voiding became more apparent. My testicals felt heavy.
Avatar m tn isn't doxycycline a better drug for prostatitis and UTIs? I've tried cipro for 3 days then 7 days but it didn't cure the shooting pain and discomfort in my pelvis.
Avatar m tn So it is very difficult to say whether you are having prostatitis or not. However for prostatitis the first line of treatment is by antibiotics and in some cases, a course of antibiotics may last two to three months. Hence you should follow up with your urologist. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
