Common Questions and Answers about Cipro dosage administration

cipro

Avatar f tn I was given Cipro for possible salmonella, and am concerned about all of the side effects I have been reading about. Is this a safe drug? I woke up with anxiety and some stiffness this morning, and am scared it's going to get worse. Please help.
Avatar n tn is it safe to take 125 mg of cipro each day for 6 months I was prescribed this for a UTI that keeps coming back. Also the pharmacy that filled the prescription gave me 250mg tablets and told me they aren't made in 125mg. and for me to break in half . But the info that comes with the meds says not to break.crush, or chew.
Avatar f tn It is but in higher dosesthere research that incorrect cipro dosage can induce persistence, so do not medicate yourself, but go to an urologist
Avatar n tn Please get your dog to a vet as soon as possible. He needs antibiotics and wound dressing. Cipro may not be the right med and in any case all antibiotics should be given as a full course, not one-off treatments which could interfere with the right treatment.
190673 tn?1259203266 A lot of times this can be remedied by changing the dosing schedule, ie, breaking up a once daily dose into twice a day...or changing the time of administration. Generally speaking, these types of meds (like Effexor) improve with INCREASING dosages, not decreasing. Your dose is average....there is still some room to increase. Have you noticed a significant improvement in the past when increasing the dose? If so, you may want to discuss some changes with your doctor.
Avatar f tn Anyone reading the above post should know it's factually inaccurate on all counts. SSRIs definitely work differently -- obviously. 5-HTP is a metabolite of tryptophan that the body uses in combination with Vitamin C, B6 and other co-factors to manufacture serotonin. SSRIs target certain serotonin receptors while ignoring others and inhibit the enzyme that breaks down used serotonin so it washes longer in the targeted receptors.

Avatar n tn t been able to confirm. As a result, I went to a pharmacy and got a 10-pack of 500mg Cipro and a 3 pack of 500mg Zipro. I took 1000mg of Cipro and 1000mg of Zipro yesterday and another 500mg of each today. Have a I taken enough of these drugs to kill both bacterial infections, and if so, how long should it take to clear up an infection if I do indeed have one?
Avatar m tn They prescribed Cipro on the basis that there were some traces of Bacteria. I am almost done with the Cipro dosage (7 days) and also have been drinking a lot of water and cranberry juice. No relief at all. Is there something else that could be causing this? What should I look to do (or have checked) next? Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Avatar n tn Its toxicity depends on the route of administration, duration, exposure and dosage. The route of administration is the most important determinant of toxicity. I hope this helps.
Avatar m tn 1 gm of zithromax and 500gm of Cipro all in single dosage, is that all or do I need to see the doctor again
Avatar f tn Panic Disorder: PO (by mouth) 1-2mg/day in DIVIDED doeses. Give largest dose at bedtime if daily dose cannot be EQUALLY DIVIDED. Bottom line is that none of us are doctors on this forum and we cannot tell you how to dose your meds. Your doctor is the only one qualified to change your dosing schedule. If you are finding that you're too sedated during the day or that the current dose is not holding you for 24 hours, you need to discuss this with the perscriber.
Avatar f tn After taking a days dosage of Cipro***
Avatar m tn He prescribed me Bactrim 2x a day, which I took for 5 days before it made me feel very ill. With a 4 day break, I began taking Cipro 500mg 2x a day for 12 days and still continued to have pain. An ultrasound was preformed on both testicles. Results were normal intratesticular and capsular flow patters bilaterally, no abnormality in epididymal heads, testes intrinsically normal. Moderately large varicocele on left side. Digital rectal exam was normal.
Avatar m tn Thats why initially I thought it was possibly a UTI, but with the discharge I was leaning more towards an STD. Maybe I didn't take the Cipro long enough. I took the dosage (2 a day) for 10 days (2 packs). I am currently in Ghana and the have yet to find a clinic that does same day STD test. I waited 5 hours to even meet the doctor for my consultation. I just don't want to risk whatever I have getting worse.
Avatar f tn However, after prolonged administration, abrupt cessation of treatment may produce nausea, headache, and malaise. Gradual dosage reduction has been reported to produce, within two weeks, transient symptoms including irritability, restlessness, and dream and sleep disturbance. So, a gradual reduction is mandatory. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn After two days the discharge lost its yellow, thick state to a more clear and watery fluid. I am now on my 6th Cipro 500mg, but I woke up this morning, only to see a cloudy fluid again. I am also feeling a slight burning after urination. Is it that the bacterium has become immune to the drug? Will I need to get more Cipro or another drug to combat this infection? Since Cipro is a broad spectrum drug, if the bacterium becomes immune to it, can it still be cured? What are your suggestions?
Avatar m tn Relapse is likely to occur, but slow taper of the maintenance dosage can ensure a higher chance of treatment success. Per Center for Substance Abuse Treatment or CSAT, the length of time for buprenorphine maintenance therapy may be indefinite for most patients and is highly individualized. Manufacture prescription drug label states that Suboxone, either sublingual tablets or film, should not be "cut, crush, break, chew or swallow ".
Avatar m tn Im traveling in mexico and got pretty sick (my best guess is it was 'Travelers Diarrhea' or maybe food poisioning) I went to the pharmacy and got 500mg Cipro pills. I took one and got a horrible headache and vomitted alot. My symptoms seem to be gone however would it be a bad idea to stop taking the Cipro? I know people say you should always finish a course of antibiotics but in this case I dont know if I need them.
Avatar f tn Also, I am being treated with Cipro, which I just took a round of that for a UT about 2.5 months ago. Should I be repeating the same antibotic so soon, and will it be as effective if I do.
