I used Chantix for my quit but had no ill side effects. Hindsight, I probably wouldn't use it again because of all the negativity so what I would suggest is if you have already gone 2 days without a smoke, you might want to consider stopping the Chantix. You are still going to have a physical withdrawal regardless of how long you use the pill though I don't know to what degree, all I can say is that I had a rough go of it.

Hi I am on Chantix to quit smoking and quit a few days ago. I am very tired so tierd that I cant even turn on the TV.. Is this a normal side effect from going off nicotine? This is the third day that has been like this. I was a heavy smoker before at 1 1/2 packs a day for 30 plus years.

That's great you got off of that horrible Ultram. I too quit smoking 4 months ago with chantix and still take it. I stopped once and smoked again for a few days so for now, I'm taking 1 pill a day and not having any bad effects.

I quit smoking using Chantix as well. I am only 1 month non-smoking. I only took Chantix for 9 days as on the 9th day I found out i was pregnant. So I was non smoking and pregnant, to only two weeks later miscarry. I am not too sure if its from the hormones, or from the symptoms of not smoking, but i was extremely irritable, it was almost to the point that everything i that came out of my mouth was snappy. I developed insomnia right from the get go from Chantix.

d like to say good for you for trying to quit. When I quit smoking on Aug 8th, 2007 I decided to quit Cold Turkey, Told my self if that doesnt work I'll try for the patch, or something else to help me quit. Thankfully quitting cold turkey worked for me, I'll tell ya it wasn't easy, it was the hardest thing i ever had to do. First few days were hell for me but I started feeling a little better as time went by.

CHANTIX should not be taken with other quit-smoking products. You may need a lower dose of CHANTIX if you have kidney problems or get dialysis." It looks to me like it's the kidneys but ask a doctor to be sure about that and any other problem we might not think about as patients.

Hi how can i quit smoking? I developed hbp about a yr ago and now doc thinks i have mitral valve prolaspe have been tested for that but wont get results from that until the 13 this month.I really want to quit and get my health back at least better than it is now iv started eating healthy and started walking some but cant walk much because i get to weak after only about 20 minutes and i desperatly want to quit smoking i just feel like i cant do it alone as iv smoked for 30 yrs.

I decided to join this forum today as it is my Quit day. Long story but I started smoking at 15 and I will be 36 on the 16th. My husband quit cold turkey at Christmas. I am taking Chantix. I started it once before and it was starting to work but I didn't stick with it. This time I am dedicated to never smoking again. I have had a hard time in the past becuase I feel sooo sick the first couple of days and I hate that feeling. This time I have decided to just deal with it.

Well, obviously I want you to quit smoking, just as much as I would like to quit, but I have "heard" of some pretty serious side effects from that stuff....One being major depression....Did you read up on it or talk to the doc about it? Honestly, I did start taking it a few months back and by the end of the first week I stopped because I was having certain "thoughts" that I have never had....I didn't like that feeling at all....

I just went to the doctors today. She perscribed chantix to quit smoking. Ive been on suboxone(for opiate addiction) for 1 year and 4 months. I take 16mg. a day. Im just wondering if it is OK to take them together. I just want to find out as much as i can befor i start chantix. Please give me as much info as possible.

So if your friend is looking for something to make her actually quit, Chantix is the way to go. If she only needs a boost to keep the nicotine in her body to basically be weaned from them (keep from feeling uncomfortable) then patches, gum, losenges, etc. should be enough to keep the withdraw at bay. I hear chantix is a miracle drug for those who want to quit smoking. I think they are the same company that makes some antidepressants. However, I also read that people became suicidal on it and heard that people actually commited suicide. I have severe anxiety and other related mental problems and am so scared to take that drug but I need to quit smoking. Anyone who is on antidepressants took chantix?

I would stop using the Chantix immediately. If you want to quit, you will continue not smoking. Chantix doesn't always agree with those using it and it sounds as if you are one of those. I quit with Chantix too, but I did not have any side effects. I do know, through commercials, that there is a class action suit or they are attempting to put one together so I'm sure there is good reason for it! Stop immediately and call your doctor or go into the emergency room of your hospital.

I would also say that little was known about the medical aspects of smoking. Thougn I have tried numerous times to quit, a dx of COPD, led me to Chantix. azeman, I am inspired that you have a zero smoke day. I have not achieved that yet, but am hopeful. One of my support problems during the last three weeks has been the absence of milestones. That is to say, where are others at this point, or how should I be doing. So finding that you are at no cigeretts in two weeks is very helpful.

i have no personal experience with that but i do know some here on the forum have been taking chantix and they did not have any problems. good luck on the smoking and mount everest. hang on and maybe someone with more knowledge may come along. in the meantime you might try googling that ?

My experience with Chantix was pretty good but I stopped taking Chantix after my third quit day. All total, a month and a half, and I didn't look back. It is 4 months today and I had some severe reactions to my quit....2 sinus infections, pneumonia & pleurisy. I have never been sick like that but I am told that it is coincidental and has nothing to do with my quit.....hmm.......

hi kimmie, good luck with the quitting smoking - I did it in January after 35+ years. My recent stress makes me think I would be chain smoking if I hadn't quit! Did they give you a rx for chantix or something else? My stop smoking was done cold turkey but think "wow." I quit while in the hospital from a heart attack.

Early pregnancy and can't quit smoking entirely-yes I know it's AWFUL and am mad at myself and feel terribly guilty but I can't seem to give it up completely. Anyone know if chantix or the patch is better or worse than actually smoking & pg? Ideally I'd be able to quit but can't so far.

I smoked for nearly 38 yrs. and had never quit before so I would say it is pretty amazing that I have quit! This forum is full of "chantix talk" so make sure you read up on it.
