Chantix for quit smoking

Common Questions and Answers about Chantix for quit smoking

chantix

Avatar f tn I used Chantix for my quit but had no ill side effects. Hindsight, I probably wouldn't use it again because of all the negativity so what I would suggest is if you have already gone 2 days without a smoke, you might want to consider stopping the Chantix. You are still going to have a physical withdrawal regardless of how long you use the pill though I don't know to what degree, all I can say is that I had a rough go of it.
Avatar m tn CHANTIX should not be taken with other quit-smoking products. You may need a lower dose of CHANTIX if you have kidney problems or get dialysis." It looks to me like it's the kidneys but ask a doctor to be sure about that and any other problem we might not think about as patients.
596605 tn?1369946627 Hi I am on Chantix to quit smoking and quit a few days ago. I am very tired so tierd that I cant even turn on the TV.. Is this a normal side effect from going off nicotine? This is the third day that has been like this. I was a heavy smoker before at 1 1/2 packs a day for 30 plus years.
286124 tn?1214938528 I also smoke and have gotten a perscription for Chantix. It is supposed to help me stop smoking. It releases dopamine slowly in your body to help you fight your cravings. My question is this: can Chantix also help with coming off of these pills? any advice will be very appreciated. I will post again to tell my story. I'm at work and wanted to ask real quick! thanks again!
1609058 tn?1298089127 I've had an awful experience that I must share and find out if anyone else has gone through it. I currently take Lexapro 10mg, a mild antidepressant, and it's wonderful for me. A little over a month ago, I requested a prescription for Chantix to quit smoking. Even though I'd heard lots of negative things about the side effects, I thought it was worth trying. After 4 weeks of taking it, I did notice that my mood was being affected, so I decided to stop taking it.
Avatar f tn Need to quit smoking I have been smoking since I was 18 years old and I am now 41
380558 tn?1309042387 That's great you got off of that horrible Ultram. I too quit smoking 4 months ago with chantix and still take it. I stopped once and smoked again for a few days so for now, I'm taking 1 pill a day and not having any bad effects.
Avatar m tn I quit smoking using Chantix as well. I am only 1 month non-smoking. I only took Chantix for 9 days as on the 9th day I found out i was pregnant. So I was non smoking and pregnant, to only two weeks later miscarry. I am not too sure if its from the hormones, or from the symptoms of not smoking, but i was extremely irritable, it was almost to the point that everything i that came out of my mouth was snappy. I developed insomnia right from the get go from Chantix.
Avatar f tn Why not give it a chance. It worked with me and I smoked for 38 years and never ever quit. Quite a few of my smoking friends have also quit using it and none seem to be bothered with any side effects. You may get lucky : ) You mentioned that you were on effexor.......have you considered welbutrin? Welbutrin was used pre chantix with great results. I am not a doctor so you would have to discuss it with your physician but it might be solution. Good luck and I hope this quit will be the last one.
540521 tn?1221699706 d like to say good for you for trying to quit. When I quit smoking on Aug 8th, 2007 I decided to quit Cold Turkey, Told my self if that doesnt work I'll try for the patch, or something else to help me quit. Thankfully quitting cold turkey worked for me, I'll tell ya it wasn't easy, it was the hardest thing i ever had to do. First few days were hell for me but I started feeling a little better as time went by.
393419 tn?1228447393 I have a question for anyone on synthroid who used Chantix as an aid to quit smoking. Have you had any reactions between the synthroid & chantix? I really want to quit smoking. . .I quit for 2 months prior to my surgery and for about 2 months after, but alas I started again. . .I checked a drug interaction web site and it didn't list any interactions, but I was wondering if anyone had any personal experience. Also, former smokers who didn't use chantix, what worked for you?
Avatar f tn I was taking Chantix for about a week and a half when I had to quit it because I was experiencing depression which was getting worse by the day. This is going on the 2nd full day of no Chantix but I am still feeling depressed. I want to know how long does it stay in your system for. I woke up today and felt close to normal and then it came back again.
Avatar f tn I really want to quit and get my health back at least better than it is now iv started eating healthy and started walking some but cant walk much because i get to weak after only about 20 minutes and i desperatly want to quit smoking i just feel like i cant do it alone as iv smoked for 30 yrs.Any advice on where to start?
Avatar f tn This time I started my Chantix the day I quit instead of continuing to smoke that first week waiting for blood levels to go up. I thought it would be a lot worse for me than it was. Now I just simply want to smoke and am having to make myself stay away from the store. In the past I always made the mistake of having back up cigs around just in case. That worked really well for me:) Anyway this just goes to show how much power these things have over me.
Avatar f tn I have smoked for 40+ years and want to QUIT! My Dr gave me a script for Chantix but after seeing some Thyroid issues here I'm concerned. I have no Thyroid due to Follicular Thyroid Cancer, I take Levothyroxine daily for the rest of my life and have to have blood work every 6 months to maintain my TSH T3 T4 levels to prevent the cancer from returning. Is it safe for me to take CHANTIX?
427279 tn?1210919821 I did have some really wacky dreams tho! But, I quit smoking for the two months I took it. They recommend three, but my insurance doesn't pay for it, at $125. a month, pretty expensive. Unfortunately, I started smoking again 2 weeks ago. I got really uptight about my neuro appt, which was a 4 hr drive, and stopped and bought a couple of packs. Definitely the wrong thing to do. Now I'm going to have to go through the whole withdrawal thing again. As soon as I work up the courage.
Avatar f tn I just went to the doctors today. She perscribed chantix to quit smoking. Ive been on suboxone(for opiate addiction) for 1 year and 4 months. I take 16mg. a day. Im just wondering if it is OK to take them together. I just want to find out as much as i can befor i start chantix. Please give me as much info as possible.
Avatar m tn I hear chantix is a miracle drug for those who want to quit smoking. I think they are the same company that makes some antidepressants. However, I also read that people became suicidal on it and heard that people actually commited suicide. I have severe anxiety and other related mental problems and am so scared to take that drug but I need to quit smoking. Anyone who is on antidepressants took chantix?
Avatar m tn I took Chantix for 6 weeks and I haven't smoked in nearly 1 year and 2 months. Although Chantix is generally prescribed for 3 months, and it really should be taken for that long, it is rather expensive and some try to stop using it before the recommended time. I smoked for 38 yrs. and I thought I would die a smoker. The defining moment came when my doctor asked me to "just try chantix, what do you have to lose".
Avatar m tn I would stop using the Chantix immediately. If you want to quit, you will continue not smoking. Chantix doesn't always agree with those using it and it sounds as if you are one of those. I quit with Chantix too, but I did not have any side effects. I do know, through commercials, that there is a class action suit or they are attempting to put one together so I'm sure there is good reason for it! Stop immediately and call your doctor or go into the emergency room of your hospital.
950277 tn?1247274551 I'm happy to hear that you two are doing well on your quits. After smoking for nearly 40 years I have to say that if it weren't for Chantix I don't think I could or would have quit. I want you both to know about whyquit.com. It is important to understand why we started to smoke and why it is so difficult to quit. The articles at whyquit help explain the why's and help with the how to's.
Avatar m tn When you get clean, you need to take baby steps. You need to go easy. I think trying to quit smoking at the same time can't be good. I know for sure, in a rehab, they would say, don't do it. As far as the Chantix goes. That is going to affect the pleasure center of your brain. Same place as the pain meds do. I would do a lot more research before you take them. My own personal experience. I tried to quit smoking after I was 2 months clean.I lasted 28 days. I was so hyper all 28 days.
Avatar f tn I come from a family of all smokers. I wish they would quit. For me, chantix was AMAZING. It worked in 2 weeks for me. Just speak with your doctor. The thing you have on your side is that you want to quit. That is the most important. You also have a motivation. So, now you need the willpower. Pray for it!!
