chantix

Avatar f tn I started having cravings again and broke down and paid for a re fill. That first pill worked fast and really helped with any cravings. I will take it as needed for however long and try to always have some on hand.
Avatar m tn I did not drink any more than I usually do, and I am no stranger to alcohol and can tolerate it very well at the worse of times. This time was even scarier than the first blackout. Is there any research done on the specific interactions between Zyban and Alcohol, even after cessation of the medication? Help please?
Avatar m tn Chantix side effects may include suicidal thoughts, depression and even violent behavior
1230229 tn?1447215761 I chewed nicotine gum throughout TX and doctors were completely unconcerned about that.
286124 tn?1214938528 Good question though. Do look into Chantix and Alcohol as a starting place...what you would do if you wanted to try it for alcohol or aome other substance is tell the Dr. you also smoke and want toi quit that too. That way he has a basis for writing the script....
Avatar f tn Naltrexone blocks opiate receptors, and it is thought that alcohol causes release of endorphins and that is one reason for the addictive nature of alcohol. Curiously, naltrexone reduces cravings for alcohol, but does NOT reduce cravings for opiates! Chantix causes dopamine release in the brain; the main problem with the medication is that it can cause depression and even psychosis-- all temporarily, until the med is stopped.
Avatar f tn I saw my Dr right away and she confirmed there are no interactions between Chantix and Effexor. She felt that the nicotine withdrawls, combined with the side effects of the Chantix is what caused the severe anxiety.
Avatar m tn time and the amount of time that has elapsed since your use of Chantix. It has been almost 3 1/2 months for me and I am still getting urges and am still quick tempered, just not as often as before : ) I think we will always struggle, quitting is life altering especially if you have smoked for a long time (38 yrs. for me.) I know it will get easier and the cravings will only happen every once in a while and sometimes temper and irritability isn't about addiction but something else.
Avatar f tn I also had another bad reaction with Chantix on my last smoking day before my quit date. There was no warning about the dangers of consuming alcohol and Chantix but there should be. After this happened to me I found out I'm not the only one this happened to. -- I took my night time dose of Chantix and went out to a club with friends since it was my last day of smoking.
Avatar n tn my wife is taking chantix to stop smoking and when she finishes the first month of chantix can she then take welbutrin as it is not as strong. The chantix is giving her bad dreams.
1096641 tn?1271707225 m happy to hear that you put them down again, and yes, the craving can get to you, and you cannot beat yourself up but you might want to finish your chantix and then buy another and wean off them. I used Chantix and while taking them for a period of time I found that they really helped...no craves at all, I also realized that once I stopped, I had to deal with w/d, physical and emotional and that's when whyquit really helped me.
1096641 tn?1271707225 I used Chantix and didn't have any complications. I have never heard of headaches related to Chantix and I just googled "chantix and headaches" which brought up several articles but there was nothing that links the two (mentions of Chantix and headache on the same page). Just wondering Terry where you heard/read it? My husband suffered from cluster headaches and they were nothing like the ones you describe. His were so intense and lasted sometimes for hours.
Avatar m tn By the way, you can always tell that a drug is affecting brain neurotransmitters when you see those warnings they give out, as you do with Chantix, and they warn that they can cause suicidal and violent thoughts and the like. This warning is a dead giveaway that the drug is affecting similar things that antidepressants and anti anxiety drugs and anti psychotics are playing around with.
Avatar n tn Potential side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, headache, and nervousness. Because the combination of chlordiazepoxide and alcohol (ethanol) may impair your judgment and/or reflexes, it may be dangerous to drive or to perform tasks which require you to be alert after taking these together. It would be advisable to avoid consuming alcohol while you are taking chlordiazepoxide.
Avatar n tn I am getting ready to take chantix...and am nervous about that as well..I think I might be jumping two trains at once. I think that hopping on to the train for a while might make it easier to wuit the smoking as well... Gonna be a tough week..I can feel it in my cold bones???BRRRRR!!
Avatar m tn I have recently been approved by VA for a chantix prescription, and expect to start the cessation program within days. I've been told that a recent medical study indicates that a male of my age, 66, incurs decreased longevity by quitting smoking after 50 years addiction. can someone direct me to such a study, or advise if I've been misled?
Avatar m tn My fasting blood sugar now is 75 to 80 and before bed around 90 to 100 due to exercising everyday and taking the medication and strict diet. I will have blood work in April and hopefully my doctor will let me stay off the med for good.
729288 tn?1251254433 I will pay the $215 on monday for my shipment then I am waiting the 2 weeks suggested and beginning. Here is my question. I am also on chantix.. the stop smoking drug. I really need to stop because I think 27 years is long enough to smoke for anyone. Does anyone know if it will have any kind of reaction? My doc told me to go ahead it wouldnt hurt me.
Avatar n tn Did you stop taking the Chantix? A common side effect of this is nausea and with some people it becomes quite a problem when taking it. If you haven't stopped it, as long as you are sick, stop taking it and see if it makes a difference. If you have stopped taking it then I would suggest you see your family physician. It could be galldbladder attacks you are having. When nausea is coupled with abdominal pain, it is nothing to mess around with.
Avatar f tn Alcohol and antidepressants should not be mixed. I'm sure you already know this. Many of these meds go through the liver and so does alcohol. Are you feeling alright? Have you been feeling sick?
Avatar m tn I am suffering from depression and anxiety. I recently saw my psychiatrist, and he prescribed Effexor (37.5mg a week until I get to 150mg) to treat these conditions. I have been smoking marijuana regularly (daily) for about 5 years now, and it helps me with my lower back pain that I get from an injury that left me with 4 herniated discs, on top of helping with my depression. Obviously it is not helping enough with the depression to be enough, which is why I went to see my psychiatrist.
