Celexa for children

Common Questions and Answers about Celexa for children

celexa

Avatar n tn I belong to a support group for teachers and parents of children suffering from anxiety. Many of the children take medication - including Celexa. About four children in our group are on this medication (all in conjuction with intervention and/or therapy). For these children, this "drug" seems to work the best with the fewest side effects. Our child takes Celexa - before that Prozac and Effexor. Celexa is the best one for her - so far.
1160764 tn?1267113859 Ever since my first child was born I have not been interested in sex at all, I will go through with it to make my husband happy, but I have no desire, we have tried many differnt things to help me but so far nothing has worked, we had a great sex life before we had children, and I am scared I am going to lose him over this, what can I do? I am on Ativan now for about 6 days and Celexa for about a year, recently came off of a hydrocodone addiction of 2 years.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have been prescribed celexa for my anxiety problems which were chest pains, dizzyness, loss of concentration etc. I have been on 20 mg now for about a month and a half and I was wondering how long it takes for a case like mine to recover and finally come off celexa. Also one weird thing ive noticed is that my eye is twitching a lot which is the only side effect I have from this drug. Will it go away? Anyone else taking celexa for anxiety?
Avatar f tn celexa is a good medication but when it comes to antidepressants u should follow the rule of {TRIAL AND ERROR} since there r different medications for depression our bodies responce is different so u should be on celexa for about 4 weeks to decide wether its good for u
Avatar n tn It is possible that your son has both ADHD and anxiety issues. However, it is common today for medical personnel to misdiagnose a child because the behaviours for some anxiety disorders and ADD/ADHD are very similar. Since the medication for ADHD is not working, I wonder if this could be the problem in your son's situation - he suffers from anxiety but not ADD/ADHD. Usually, the medication for anxiety is one of the SSRI's - non-habit-forming medications.
Avatar m tn Well my regular family physician in Minnesota ---who I will be delivering with as I am moving back to my home area around Christmas---put me on Celexa and back on the Ativan as needed. The Celexa did not work out very well for me giving me thoughts Ive never had before..and was unsettling so I quit taking them, but currently do still take the ativan. He has me on .5 mg up to twice a day as needed. I understand that Ativan is a class d drug and is reported NOT safe pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I have to do this for myself my children and my new job that I start in two weeks . My dr recently prescribed me Xanax and celexa for anxiety and depression but I was to scared to tell him about the pills I have been taking ... I have not started the celexa because I am scared it will interact with the Percocet and haven't taken Amy Xanax because i haven't needed it .. Is it safe to take the celexa while I am coming off the Percocet or should I wait?
Avatar n tn You say Been prescribed Celexa but Doc is considering that I might have bipolar 2, is the same doc who has prescribed celexa the one to have concluded BP2 or for instance you were prescribed celexa by a GP then your pdoc told you to stop it as you may have BP2. Incidentally all pharm companies marketing antidepressants say they don't drive people manic yet they do.
Avatar f tn Yes, the Prozac can make him hyper. Our child took Prozac at the same age as your son and she, too, did not do well on it. It did help her anxiety but seemed to take away her "filter" for saying or doing appropriate things. Our doctor then placed her on Effexor - which worked well but today she is on Celexa (citalopram is the generic term) and this seems to be the best "fit" for her.
Avatar n tn I have been taking celexa (20 mg) for two weeks for anxiety with Klonopin just when I need it. I don't like the way the celexa is making me feel. Do you think I will have any side effects only taking it for two weeks if I stop?
Avatar n tn i'm on both of those meds at the same because they work differently wellbutrin hel[ps alot with the chemical dopanine in the brain it's not a srri so I would wean off the celexa but take the wellbutrin too works really well for me. It's a chemical cocktail and it's saving my life/.
Avatar m tn is celexa just for depression?? or does it also help with anxiety's?? is this one on the bottom of the list?? like zoloft,paxil,lexapro,prozac..this is in the same category as these others....please explain this??
Avatar m tn My doctor thinks so and prescribed some Ativan and Celexa. I think I fell the affects of the Celexa because I feel like Im in a good mood most of the time. Im still having chest pains and my heart rate will increase for no apparent reason. Sometimes both hands will turn purple colors now. So Celexa has helped my mood but not my symptoms. Whats wrong with me?
358486 tn?1294776388 I was diagnosed with fibro a year ago but have had it for 12 years, and have been on celexa for yearS, it didnt help one thing! I switched to Cymbalta 60mg 4 weeks ago and have much less fatigue and anxiety. They are in the same family of anti-depressants SSRI which increase "feel good" hormones in your body, but i feel cymbalta works much better!! Im hoping to also start Lyrica as well. Let me know if you have any questions.
Avatar f tn Did you just enter menopause? Because if you did, it could be hormones. But given you've been on a med for years, you must have had an anxiety problem for years. You don't say how long you've been taking the ativan or how often. If you only take it when you absolutely have to, not on a daily basis, you're not going to get addicted to it and it won't be as hard to stop taking.
Avatar m tn doctor prescribed this for me. i want to take it but am somewhat reluctant as i have heard it can cause hair loss. i love my hair and dont want to be bald! if it DOES cause hair loss in me, are the effects reversible?
Avatar f tn Im tired all the time,i take celexa for depression, and have been on l-thyroxine for almost 3 years,my doc says my levels are in the low normal range and that she has tested everything for my thyroid,I cant lose weight and have only felt normal one month this summer,Help me please!I also take claritin for allergies.my doc things that will help me from not bein so tired,my periods are irregular and i have not been able to concieve.I have 4 children and never had a problem b4.
Avatar f tn My doctor just put me on Venlafaxine chl er for depression and pain, I am switching from celexa 40mg and have taken half of each each night for the past three nights. I feel horrible, I feel like a zombie, barely able to get out of bed, dizzy, blurry vision, spacing out, nausea, and all I want to do is sleep. Is this normal when switching drugs, I dont even know if I want to continue if im going to feel like this. I havent been able to go to work and I have two kids to look after.
Avatar f tn I have been on Celexa for a little over a month now, before that i was taking lexapro for my depression and anxiety disorder, and although both my anxiety level and my depression have gotten better i have been having vivid nightmares. Which makes my anxiety skyrocket right before bed, i have at least one nightmare per night i often have one wake up from it go back to sleep have anther and so on. I was just wondering if anyone knows if nightmares are side effects of this medication.
202436 tn?1326474333 I was taking Celexa when I was pregnant. I had been on them for a year and then off them for 6 months before getting pregnant. I was 5 months pregnant when I went back on Celexa. I had a very long discussion with my doctor before I went back on meds. The risks to having depression seemed to much outweigh the risks to taking meds. At the time (3 years ago) my doctor said that there was a recently released study on Celexa during pregnancy and that the results were very good.
646598 tn?1223708455 I took Celexa for quit a while for fibro and other conditions. I think it helped a lot. My dr perscribed it for pain, not for depression. That should be noted in dr's chart notes, so you don't get labeled with depression. Good luck, hope it helps you.
Avatar f tn I take 10 mg of Celexa and Vistaril for sleep. I think if I upped my dose of Celexa to 20 mg then it would probably work for the anxiety, but I'm trying to lose much needed weight. (I've lost 20 and have about 15 to go). I would obviously rather be happy and fat but I've been trying to lose this weight for about 7 years so I don't want to up my dose just yet. I've been using rescue remedy spray and calms and they help a little.
792052 tn?1309742492 Well, you certainly are overwhelmed and have a lot on your plate. Having 5 children is a LOT and 6 month old twins would stress, tire, overwhelm someone with NO mental health issues. Your house is a wreck and I'd not expect it to be anything but that! I'm dead serious. I had two boys that were 15 months apart in age and it didn't clean the right way until they left for school!! Do you have any help or support at all? Do you have a mother, sister, mother in law, sister in law?
