Are you sure it's the Lyrica that is causing your weight gain? If it's the Lyrica that is causing the weight gain, maybe you should stop taking it, but talk to your doctor first. Starting this new anti-inflammation med and I read it could cause weight gain and swelling.....anyone have this as a symptom? How well does it work? Have a lot of pain from herniated discs in my neck and back.

Weight gain is a side effect of Celebrex. Ask your doctor if there's something else you can take instead. Be careful taking liproxenol and other diet pills with Celebrex as there could be horrible adverse effects. You must be very careful mixing diet pills and drugs. You need to get the blood tests I mentioned above before you start taking any supplements. You'll also need to alter your diet, if you are stress eating. Deaths in the family can be very stressful.

My pain is in control but the weight gain is aggravating my knee pain and scoliosis of the spine. It is hard to have the stamina I need to work with children in my center sometimes. Is there something else I can take. I really want to know what exercises work since eating doesn't move the scale. To switch a medication when I am in control of pain is scarey but I need to get some of this weight and tiredness gone.

She is 64 but she also has osteoporosis and arthritis in her lower back. The back doctor just prescribed Celebrex, is this the safest drug for her? Still in pain, limping and have some swelling - all docs told me it should be normal in a few days with the celebrex. I'm traveling and cannot afford to be immobile.

I personally feel that the bad outweighs the good when it comes to this drug and Lyrica. There are so many bad side effects. Pitted edema, weight gain, blurred vision, sleep eating, can cause more pain than before you started, hangover into next day, brain fog, headaches etc... Just look up adverse reactions to this drug and see if you are experiencing them. Trust your instincts. Also NEVER JUST STOP THIS MEDICATION COME DOWN SLOW WITH YOUR DOCTOR'S GUIDANCE.. WITHDRAWALS ARE NOT FUN...

Reading other comments suggests that arimedex leads to weight gain. that I do not want. My sister is 84 and when she was my age she took arimedex for 5 years. She can not remember anything aout it.I am already taking celebrex and tramidol for pain from arthritis. I had a knee replacement in '06. I do not think I would be able to move at all if I did not have celebrex. Now with these added body aches from arimedex, i am wondering if I can take more than two celebrex per day.

my gi didnt even know the dose to celebrex so i doubt he knows if its good to my liver! im telling yall hes stupid and i need to find a new dr asap!

Has anyone used Celebrex for their Crohn's? I have severe joint point pain and I have been told that Celebrex is a huge help for this. I am wondering about side effects and medicine interactions.

I have been getting progressively worse with OA--but so much older than your mom-85-still in denial,since I was once super -active. On Celebrex which caused a quick weight gain-and talk-a-lot(acc. to my daughter) So far-I have found acupuncture to be the absolute best for swelling of limbs.I am lucky to have a Chinese MD-whose specialty was ENT-but she cannot practice in Canada-so does acupuncture instead.

Dixie51 I'm taking 14 different drugs. It seems like a lot but like you I have Fibromyalgia, Depression, M.S, Epilepsy just to name a few. Now the M.S causes a lot of my problems since it's also a side effect from the meds I have to take. I don't see Cymbalta on your list. I see Celebrex for pain in joints, Levothyroxin for thyroid?, and I know that Prozac (which causes complete disinterest in sex...been there got rid of that one) for your anxiety.

This is my 2nd time on it and I am determined not to gain any weight. Last time I gained 12 pounds, not too bad, but does make you hungry. I've been back on it a month and no weight gain because I eat dinner around 7 pm now instead of 5:30, so I don't have that urge for snacks later, I just go to bed by 10:30, usually. (except tonight, I'm up looking at this site for why I have constant eyelid twitches!). I am so much more "normal" feeling on the Lyrica.

Forgot to mention - you said you'd been taking celebrex prior to your last blood test... I don't know if celebrex would raise your levels that much, but you can check drugs.com for interactions. What other thyroid med did you have in mind to try?

Does anyone take celebrex?I started Prozak last week and they want me to take celebrex too. They say my liver can take it, (stage 2 fibrosis). No, it would be unheard of for Celebrex to damage your heart valve. Celebrex and similar drugs do cause high blood pressure in many individuals, though. You might have gone forever and not known about the heart valve if you had not gotten high blood pressure from the Celebrex. Follow whatever advice the cardiologist gave you, and don't worry.
