Common Questions and Answers about Celebrex recall drug

celebrex

Avatar f tn Celebrex may decrease the effectiveness of Metoprolol, and lead to an elevation in blood pressure (approximately 5 mm Hg) when given over a period of weeks. This effect is most significant in patients receiving concurrent antihypertensive agents and long-term Celebrex use.

Avatar m tn Has anyone used Celebrex for their Crohn's? I have severe joint point pain and I have been told that Celebrex is a huge help for this. I am wondering about side effects and medicine interactions.
Avatar m tn I had lumbar spine fusion six weeks ago and am in PT. Still some pain so am taking 3 Ultracet tabs per 24 hours with pretty good pain relief except following 30 minutes on the treadmill and various muscle building exercises and stretches. To calm down those muscles following exercises and stretches I would like to take one 200mg Celebrex daily but one drug interaction cite suggests "Moderate" drug-drug issue involving CYP450 2D6, which means nothing to me.
Avatar f tn Hello there, I read you are taking celebrex. Did you know that celebrex has been taken off many drug store shelves. It is not a safe drug. Are you sure it's the Lyrica that is causing your weight gain? If it's the Lyrica that is causing the weight gain, maybe you should stop taking it, but talk to your doctor first. Don't just stop taking Lyrica. Good luck to you.
Avatar n tn I was on Celebrex 200 mg daily, my pain clinic dr also wants to add Cymbalta 30 mg for 7 days then 60 mg. My husband and I want to have children but are not activly trying at this point, it happens when it happens. I just want pain to stop or at least elevate more. SHould I take both together. My OB said it should be ok, My neuro dr said give it a try but pain clinic dr said don't. What should I do? I have taken it for 3 days now. I also have PCOS.
Avatar n tn She is 64 but she also has osteoporosis and arthritis in her lower back. The back doctor just prescribed Celebrex, is this the safest drug for her? Also what should people with Hep C do to better care for their liver eventhough so far she seems to have a healthy liver. For the osteoporosis she is on Fosamax. She has been on it for several years. I am just afraid that too many potent drugs can be harmful for her liver.
Avatar m tn Meloxicam is just a glorified Ibuprofen/Aleve med, so you could always try those OTC. You can take up to 800 mg Ibuprofen every 8 hours or 500mg of Aleve twice a day in it's place. Celebrex is a name brand drug and insurance companies hate those namebrands. lol Your doc can sometimes do a prior authorization, though, to get them to pay for it, which is basically paperwork explaining that you' ve tried other things and this is the only drug that works for you.
Avatar f tn Trying a new drug for pain... Celebrex. I was on Diamox but could not tolerate it as it caused severe kidney PAIN. So, my PCP wants me to try Celebrex (3 days on, 3 days off). Anyone have any experience/knowledge of this med and, if so, how did you fare with it?
Avatar m tn I started taking Celebrex two months ago and have gained 18 lbs since. I am wondering if anyone has gained weight on Celebrex? I have a sprained lumbar, lumbago syndrome with back spasms. I can't take narcotic pain meds. Any alternative to Celebrex? Naproxen does nothing for my pain.
5986700 tn?1380791380 hi angels....hub (non practicing oxy addict) just got a script for Celebrex ...he hasn't taken any yet ....he's nervous....any concerns or thoughts would be much appreeshies...love you all...I'm still here...hangin by my web......

293157 tn?1285873439 Only you and your doctor will know if Celebrex is right for you. Long term use of Celebrex is no different than any other NSAID. If you are a candidate for it and it "actually works better than other NSAIDS" then you're one of us who are very lucky to be able to use this drug.
Avatar dr m tn OMG! Thank u so much! You have described exactly the kind of pain I have along with OA in my shoulders, spine, and hips. I had an MRI and the diagnosis was DDD in T11 & T12 but was not a candidate for surgery. I have been taking percocet 10/650 3 times a day but it doesn't help with all the pain I have. Like u said it is very difficult to explain the different kinds of pain. I wake up with pain from the OA & I take a pill in the A.M at noon and 1 in the evening.
Avatar m tn I have been on methotrexate and celebrex for at least 15 years, probably long. I am currently in a tremendous amount of pain in my fingers, elbows, shoulders, left knee and left hip. Volteran gel has not helped at all and neither has Aleve. Can I take tramadol with these two drugs? I have recently switched my insurance and am waiting to get into a new rheumatologist.
Avatar m tn I've tried all over the counter anti inflammatory meds and all prescription ones. I'm on Celebrex 400mg a day right now. It's working alright. I would ask them for one. I had to try almost every single one on the market before my insurance would approve Celebrex. And there is no generic so it's much more expensive.

Avatar n tn Random joint pain, including in the jaw, can be caused by Lyme Disease. Have you seen a doctor yet? Only about half of patients recall a tick or a rash.
1155483 tn?1262432647 He took me off the meloxicam and put me on Toradol (Ketorolac) 10mg 3xDaily. Now, I have researched a bit about the drug, checking the insert and also several websites, such as Drugs.com, and all of them say not to take the medication for longer then 5 consecutive days and that it is not indicated for the treatment of chronic pain. I am worried of the side effects and the specific warning of the 5 day maximum.
Avatar m tn I ask this because you mention going to a physiotherapist. Are you aware that celebrex has been removed by some drug stores in Canada. Personally, I wouldn't take this drug. I would advise you to google celebrex and look at possible side effects. You would be surprised at some of the possible side effects of this medication. You can just tell your GP you don't want to take celebrex anymore because you are concerned about the side effects. My mom was given a sample package of celebrex.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I have also seen a New Zealand study recently that said some people get a visual disturbance from Celebrex. I am quitting both for that reason. Has anyone had visual problems from either drug? I get a wavy line that moves (like a migraine aura without the migraine) for about half an hour in both eyes and it goes away.
Avatar f tn I have been prescibed Celebrex for osteoarthris pain. Can it be taken every day for long term management of arthritis.
Avatar f tn Hi all, recently diagnosed with Achilles tenosynovitis, and treatment of celebrex is not doing the trick. Not using it normally but cannot rest 24/7. Was not given crutches, concerned my weight (I'm about 40 lbs overweight) is hindering my recovery. Still in pain, limping and have some swelling - all docs told me it should be normal in a few days with the celebrex. I'm traveling and cannot afford to be immobile.
418155 tn?1205409893 As some of you know I have been trying to quit vicodin for several weeks. I feel like I am beating this habit, although some days the pain is just too bad and I cave. Anyway, a friend of mine mentioned that he takes diclofen for various sports injuries and that it helps tremendously. I've never heard of this drug before. Is it an opiate? Obviously I do not want to trade one bad habit for another but if it is non-narcotic and can help with my severe pain I would like more info...
