Celebrex medication

Common Questions and Answers about Celebrex medication

celebrex

Avatar m tn You can take the celebrex as an acute medication while the topamax may be your preventive medication. Discuss this with your doctor for proper management. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn She is 64 but she also has osteoporosis and arthritis in her lower back. The back doctor just prescribed Celebrex, is this the safest drug for her? Also what should people with Hep C do to better care for their liver eventhough so far she seems to have a healthy liver. For the osteoporosis she is on Fosamax. She has been on it for several years. I am just afraid that too many potent drugs can be harmful for her liver.
Avatar f tn hi i have arthritis and i have had 4 joints totally replaced and i am only 35 with no kids. i am having so severe side effects from my med mainy celebrex i have had an heart test and was seen as early polarization , diagnosed with chronic gastrointestinal reflux and have skin rash and legions . i am thinking of a claim against them . but in the main time i dont want my doctors to feel bad as they have been with me since my early twenties.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Celebrex (200 mg a day) for about five years for bone on bone knee osteoarthritis. It has worked well for controlling my pain (not perfect but pretty good). I also get some lower back pain (combination of osteoarthritis and nerve stuff) that only happens when I over-do (like trying to garden, etc.). I typically need a day or two of Vicodin for that as the Celebrex does not seem to work for that.
Avatar m tn I have been on methotrexate and celebrex for at least 15 years, probably long. I am currently in a tremendous amount of pain in my fingers, elbows, shoulders, left knee and left hip. Volteran gel has not helped at all and neither has Aleve. Can I take tramadol with these two drugs? I have recently switched my insurance and am waiting to get into a new rheumatologist.
Avatar m tn Is there another medication that I can take that is equally as good as Celebrex. It's very good but so expensive! A: Celebrex (there is no generic but the active ingredient is celecoxib) is an expensive NSAID (non-steroidal-anti-inflammatory-drug), and there are no alternatives exactly like it, but you may be able to try something similar. Most NSAIDS follow two pathways in the body, COX-1 inhibition and COX-2 inhibition. The second one is desirable, as it decreases the inflammation.
Avatar m tn Celebrex is a medication similar to aspirin, ibuprophen, and many others in a class called NSAID for Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drug. Weight gain is not one of the side effects of NSAIDs. Perhaps since you are having less pain, you are eating better or getting more exercise? Muscle tissue weighs more than fat. Or perhaps your disability is making you less active and causing the weight gain.
548642 tn?1266179652 my gi didnt even know the dose to celebrex so i doubt he knows if its good to my liver! im telling yall hes stupid and i need to find a new dr asap!
Avatar m tn Has anyone used Celebrex for their Crohn's? I have severe joint point pain and I have been told that Celebrex is a huge help for this. I am wondering about side effects and medicine interactions.
Avatar f tn I have been prescibed Celebrex for osteoarthris pain. Can it be taken every day for long term management of arthritis.
Avatar f tn sorry to jump in, but i had the impression that Celebrex was going to be taken out of the market for several reasons. It is not sold in South America because of that, since people were complaining about these symptoms you metion (upset stomach, etc) and one of them was "bouncing pain". Amy, did they put you straight on Celebrex, or did you try other mild over the counter painkillers? i suffer from both AS and MS, and i take higher doses of Advil or any other Iboprufen around.
Avatar f tn t really that affective for me but my insurance made me try practically every NSAID on the market before they would approve Celebrex. They denied Celebrex and even recommended a PPI (ulcer med) to take with the NSAID's because they didn't want to pay for Celebrex. After they denied me 4 or 5 times, they finally approved it. So now I take 400mg of Celebrex a day and it's a lot more effective than any other NSAID i've been on.
Avatar m tn Trending some of my past test they seem to have been creeping up since May and June of 2014 when I started Nexium 40mg daily for GERD and Celebrex 200mg daily for arthritis. I am wondering if one of these medications can be driving this train since the correlation is there. My provider recently switched me to Protonix instead since he is not sure also. I have had some upper abdominal pressure and discomfort and was concerned for pancreatitis due to the Triglyceride levels.
418155 tn?1205409893 it is a non-steroidal medication for inflammation and pain...like ibuprofen but is stronger...
Avatar n tn What has helped me the most is Celebrex (celecoxib); It is an anti-inflammatory and unlike over the counter ibuprofen it is safer for your stomach. You want to target reducing inflammation, instead of killing the pain (such as with Narcotics). If you simply kill the pain, you will revert to habits like poor seating position or movement patterns that can exacerbate the injury -- deadly cycle. Ice does this, as well.
968560 tn?1307451498 Ive tried steroid injections(some relief for a little while) 800mg motrin, celebrex.660mg celebrex, norco, tramadol. Ive taken torodol,it works but i cant take it more than a couple of days.(you get the pic.) I have been going to my family DR. for 6 years. She konws me well and knows that I dont have any problems with drugs.
Avatar m tn Neither Skelaxin (metaxalone) nor Celebrex (celecoxib) cause dependence. Your body will not crave either medication. You will not develop tolerance to either medication, nor will you suffer withdrawal symptoms in their absence. The usual dose of Skelaxin is 800mg every 6 to 8 hours (three or four times a day). Do not exceed the maximum daily dose, and don't mix Skelaxin with alcohol, barbiturates, or other CNS depressants.
Avatar dr m tn When one has pain we weight the pros with the cons of medication. Most of us do what you have done, take the medication. I am glad that it has been effective for you. My sister, also a nurse, uses Celebrex daily. She was informed several years ago that she should have a TKR. She is just 49 and has chose to put off the surgery for as long as medically possible. The Celebrex keeps her maintain her activity level and the pain tolerable, without it she cannot make it through her supervisory shift.
Avatar f tn Does anyone take celebrex?I started Prozak last week and they want me to take celebrex too. They say my liver can take it, (stage 2 fibrosis). But I am afraid of the NSAIDs in celebrex, any one else taking it? Oh, I am on Methadone too. I am having my first liver biopsy in the morning, so I will find out more about my liver. I am scared to death about it coz I have had so many problems lately.
Avatar f tn Hi so I have real bad body pain and health issues that cause it. I have found myself buying pain pills Percocet 5/325 and Vic 10s and take 1 sometimes 2 a day. And have been for a little over a month now. However my Dr is now giving me celebrex and it isn't working and I am scared that I am building up a tolerance to pills. Should I go a week and be miserable and then try the celebrex? My body hurts so bad I can't even move some days and I have 5 kids with the youngest being 2 yrs old.
Avatar m tn Taken from: http://www.rxlist.com/celebrex-drug.htm "What are the possible side effects of celecoxib (Celebrex)? Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Avatar m tn t for arthritis that I am aware of...I think the confusion here is the arthritic medication called CELEBREX and a standard dose starts at 100mg. I'm not sure but in your case but it you are on CELEXA (40mg)this medication is for DEPRESSION not for PAIN.. If you have nerve pain you need to look into medication for that and a very good one is NEURONTIN(GABAPENTIN)...I have been taking this for alot of years and it does help alot... Also perhaps you need to be on an opiate?
Avatar n tn I never had high blood sugar but recently after a 10 day course of celebrex for an inflamed shoulder muscle my fasting blood sugar shot up to 137. I read that celebrex has this side effect. Is it reversible?
Avatar f tn Thanks for the advice. My orthopedist advised me to mobilize my left arm by slowly flexing and extending it to prevent stiffness. I don't have to apply ice anymore and the sling is for comfort only. Is it okay then not to use it all the time ? I felt heavy on this arm if I keep it as is without the sling. For inflammation, I'm taking Celebrex because I am allergic to all NSAIDS as Motrin, Alleve, Naprosyn, etc. although Celebrex is one of them but a Cox2 inhibitor.
287246 tn?1318570063 s too early to test. He took blood and gave me some samples of Celebrex. I am just afraid to take it, just in case. I know we timed intercourse at the right time...the day before O and the day of O and I am really fertile, HOWEVER, I am still nursing and I have not been able to get pregnant while nursing. Some women can and some women have too low of hormone levels to sustain a pregnancy while they are nursing.
