celebrex

Avatar n tn Yes multiple times, I tried to get into a medical trial for gout medicine and they would not let me me participate because they said I did not have gout. I broke both my ankles when younger and they tell me its artheritis, I went to the mayo in scottsdale and it was confirmed, but the pain is to the point where I cant walk and I dont likeall the oploids prescribed for pain. I have tried everything short of medical marijuana and I am considering trying it.
Avatar n tn After receiving the results of this test to be negative for gout alongside with negative tests for lupus, rheumatoid and bacteria/infection through blood work i am left undiagnosed. It seems that the doctor is not overly concerned that this is serious as he has referred me to a rheumatologist that i will be unable to be seen by for two to three months. I was just wondering if anyone has experienced something similar to the situation which i am describing.
Avatar n tn Hello~I am 53 years old I have been diagnosed with gout even though a blood test for uric acid came out negative. I have had terrible inflammation in my metatarsal phalangeal joint and the smaller joint closer to the tip of my big toe. I have had a cortisone shot in each. I don't drink, eat shellfish and have a mostly plant based diet. I do have hypertension however and am terrified that maybe I have hurt my kidneys because I take the lowest dose of hypertension medicine.
Avatar m tn I've had GOUT for 7 yrs with attacks every 6 months until last year. Started with 100mg allopurnol last summer. All was quite. Dec had a serious attack and after 1-month of trying Indomethecine then Prednisone I received a cortozone shot and allopurnol was increased to 400mg. Uric acid is now down to 4.6 from a high of 6.9 in Dec.
Avatar n tn Hi, It is good that xray and MRI of the knee and other tests showed good results. Was there blood test done? This will help rule out infection or presence of gout. Knee pain usually results from arthritis (rheumatoid, osteoarthritis, and gout), baker's cyst, bursitis, connective tissue disorders such as lupus, dislocation of the kneecap, iIliotibial band syndrome, infection or any trauma or abnormalities in the structures in the knee.
107366 tn?1305680375 I have had episodes of gout for more than 10 years now. It wasn't too bad up until about three years ago when I started chemotherapy for cancer. I also have Crohn's disease, and believe it and the gout mean I definitely have issues with auto-immune disorders. In the past 6 months, my Allopurinol has been upped to 300 mg, then to 450 mg per day. I also follow a low purine diet most of the time, but I admit, sometimes I gotta have a steak!
Avatar n tn Fosamax is safe for liver patients. Celebrex in the short term (for a couple of weeks) should not be harmful. However, it is not something he wants me on for any length of time.
Avatar m tn I took Celebrex for several years for joint pain due to Crohn's. I keep having bowel obstructions so I went to a new dr. He told me to stop taking the Celebrex and start taking a tylenol everyday. I have not had any more obstructions but I do still have some joint pain.
Avatar f tn I have been prescibed Celebrex for osteoarthris pain. Can it be taken every day for long term management of arthritis.

Avatar m tn I have nausea, fatigue, and diarrhea as well. Ten years ago, when I was 19, I saw an orthapediic surgeon for back problems, and he told me that I had the "bone structure of a 60 year old women". He put me on Celebrex and something else, but I stopped taking them after they were causing people problems. I was also diagnosed with GERD and IBS when I was 17.
Avatar f tn true, I was on celebrex for a short time and it did not work for me. I thought it was making even more edgy and did not help with my muscle & joint pain. I think just like everything else, it is different for different people. Good luck & welcome to the forum.
Avatar m tn The tests you need to ask for are Free T3 and Free T4, which are actual thyroid hormones and TSH which is a pituitary hormone that stimulates the thyroid to produce thyroid hormones. Many doctors will only want to order the TSH - insist on the Free T3 and Free T4, as well.
Avatar f tn s seen his Internist who put him on antibiotics for an infection plus Celebrex plus blood tests showed high white cell count, high sed rate. He sent him to a Rheumatologist who took him off antibiotics, kept him on Celebrex and gave him a Steroid shot and put him on Prednisone treatment.
Avatar n tn I never had high blood sugar but recently after a 10 day course of celebrex for an inflamed shoulder muscle my fasting blood sugar shot up to 137. I read that celebrex has this side effect. Is it reversible?
Avatar f tn No, it would be unheard of for Celebrex to damage your heart valve. Celebrex and similar drugs do cause high blood pressure in many individuals, though. You might have gone forever and not known about the heart valve if you had not gotten high blood pressure from the Celebrex. Follow whatever advice the cardiologist gave you, and don't worry.
Avatar n tn tall, and about 250 pounds (in process of losing weight). He had a gout attack in September on his knee, and it was very painful for him. He went to his doctor and was diagnosed with gout. Since then, he only had one gout-like attack (not painful at all) on the toe next to his big one, and only lasted a couple of hours. He isn't complaining about pain or anything, thankfully.. but I am still worried about gout in general.
