Common Questions and Answers about Celebrex and platelet function

celebrex

Avatar n tn The only problem is, everything he has recommended does nothing - I have tried ibuprofen 400mg three times daily, ice four times daily, and am now on Celebrex 200mg twice daily (does just increased from one daily yesterday). The only thing that temporarily takes the edge off is ice. Has anyone heard of PRP treatment (platelet rich plasma)? I am trying to find out success rates of this treatment. I also need to know if insurance covers it and cost if it does not.
851432 tn?1239036447 Short-term treatment of mHE with lactulose or yogurt (12 ounces of yogurt (with live bacteria) per day) can improve cognitive function and quality of life. Unfortunately, at the present time, there is no reliable and rapid test for practicing clinicians to diagnose mHE. Antibiotics, particularly nonabsorbable antibiotics such as neomycin 1000 mg twice daily, are currently the recommended second-line treatment for hepatic encephalopathy.Lactulose is the 1st line of treatment.
Avatar n tn i have fibromialgia and arthritis and bone spurs in my neck and shingles should i be taking all this and will the tierdness ever go away?
Avatar m tn After a transplant, how long should it be before platelet count and spleen size return to normal?
Avatar m tn A low platelet count typically under 100,000 and low albumin levels, high bilirubin levels, high INR and creatintine levels only appear after extensive damage has been done to the liver and the liver can no longer function properly. This only occurs when a person has cirrhosis plus portal hypertension. Many of these people are on liver transplant waiting lists and are very ill because their livers are failing and they are suffering the effects of liver failure.
Avatar n tn Once your inflammation dissipates and you stop taking Celebrex everything should return to normal, that is, if you didn't have high morning glucose levels previously. IMHO.
Avatar m tn 30 laks my doc also suggested to do PT and even this PT came to be 18.5 and INR as 1.35. Note that when i had my liver function test 6 months back everything was normal. Not sure what's wrong now. I tested for HepB and C both are non reactive My doctor suggested me to take hepa merz, ursocol, pantoid and a-z and he is also suggesting for liver ultrasound though i have done it as a part of my health checkup and which shows normal liver studies.
Avatar f tn 2 time activated 33 sec and prothrombin time-INR of 1.1 and PT of 11.4. Her LYMPH was 39.6 and MID 8.5 Gran 51.9 and PLT 326 K/uL. Is there any chance that even know this bloodwork was ok, that she could have ITP or some type of platelet disorder?
Avatar m tn I don't think it should be an issue, I took Celebrex and Morphine for an extended time with no issue. Ask your doctor about any concerns though.
Avatar m tn Meloxicam is just a glorified Ibuprofen/Aleve med, so you could always try those OTC. You can take up to 800 mg Ibuprofen every 8 hours or 500mg of Aleve twice a day in it's place. Celebrex is a name brand drug and insurance companies hate those namebrands. lol Your doc can sometimes do a prior authorization, though, to get them to pay for it, which is basically paperwork explaining that you' ve tried other things and this is the only drug that works for you.
Avatar n tn My two daughters take Celebrex as a person would take Advil here or there and do fine with it .. they both cannot take ibuprofen. My son cannot take it since birth as he gets bad reflux from in .. They make custom made ibuprofen suppositories if you really need a NSAID but cannot do it by mouth and they are wonderful .. you need a compounding pharmacy but my co pay was only $8.00!
Avatar m tn Has anyone used Celebrex for their Crohn's? I have severe joint point pain and I have been told that Celebrex is a huge help for this. I am wondering about side effects and medicine interactions.
Avatar n tn She is 64 but she also has osteoporosis and arthritis in her lower back. The back doctor just prescribed Celebrex, is this the safest drug for her? Also what should people with Hep C do to better care for their liver eventhough so far she seems to have a healthy liver. For the osteoporosis she is on Fosamax. She has been on it for several years. I am just afraid that too many potent drugs can be harmful for her liver.
548642 tn?1266179652 my gi didnt even know the dose to celebrex so i doubt he knows if its good to my liver! im telling yall hes stupid and i need to find a new dr asap!
Avatar f tn Hey Hopey. I was just prescribed Celebrex too!! I'm very anxious to see how well it helps b/c i have constant back pain and have tried several meds that haven't given ANY relief. I started the Celebrex today, 600 mgs. And will take 400 mgs/day after today. The dr DID say it can take a few days to start feeling relief from it.
Avatar m tn //ouhsc.edu/platelets/Platelets/platelets%20intro.html I imagine you’re platelets are now up to snuff though, huh?
Avatar m tn I have been on methotrexate and celebrex for at least 15 years, probably long. I am currently in a tremendous amount of pain in my fingers, elbows, shoulders, left knee and left hip. Volteran gel has not helped at all and neither has Aleve. Can I take tramadol with these two drugs? I have recently switched my insurance and am waiting to get into a new rheumatologist.
Avatar n tn watch out for rotaion if you notice your figer nail pointing to the side of your hand you might want it looked at by a surgion it is not a bad deformity meaning does not increase pain or decrease function but look werid and can make your fist look weried and it will get trapped under your ring finger when making a fist so look out for that.
Avatar f tn t really that affective for me but my insurance made me try practically every NSAID on the market before they would approve Celebrex. They denied Celebrex and even recommended a PPI (ulcer med) to take with the NSAID's because they didn't want to pay for Celebrex. After they denied me 4 or 5 times, they finally approved it. So now I take 400mg of Celebrex a day and it's a lot more effective than any other NSAID i've been on.
Avatar f tn Up until February, I had been on opiates for a few years. Norco along with Celebrex and Robaxin (muscle relaxer). I had more side effects from all the NSAID's I was on before my insurance would finally approve Celebrex, than I did with the Norco. The only side effect I had with Norco was nausea with vomiting only when it got really bad. But that was only if I took it on an empty stomach. But the pain relief outweighed the nausea because I took an anti histamine to counter act it.
Avatar m tn My MELD Score is 10. My spleen is enlarged. My WBC and platelet counts are low. Platelets usually around 50-60, but have been as high as 80-90 and one time dropped below 50 to 43. I had my first EGD. Due to my platelets being below 50 for the first and only time, they did not band. Instead, they transfused platelets and banded on the next day. They did 7 bands. They don't want to have another procedure.
Avatar f tn In stark contrast, deletion of the prosurvival protein Bcl-xL resulted in megakaryocyte apoptosis and a failure of platelet shedding. This could be rescued by deletion of Bak and Bax. We examined the effect on megakaryocytes of three agents that activate the intrinsic apoptosis pathway in other cell types: etoposide, staurosporine, and the BH3 mimetic ABT-737. All three triggered mitochondrial damage, caspase activation, and cell death.
