I have been getting an aura in both eyes (like a migraine aura with no headache that lasts about 15minutes to a half hour) since I was told to increase my neurontin, daily,but I was also put on Celebrex and Skelaxin at the same time. I've been off of Skelaxin since March 2010. I went off of Celebrex first as I read an article that was in a New Zealand journal of medicine that said it causes rare (9/300 people) visual disturbance.
I don't think it should be an issue, I took Celebrex and Morphine for an extended time with no issue. Ask your doctor about any concerns though.
My two daughters take Celebrex as a person would take Advil here or there and do fine with it .. they both cannot take ibuprofen. My son cannot take it since birth as he gets bad reflux from in ..
They make custom made ibuprofen suppositories if you really need a NSAID but cannot do it by mouth and they are wonderful .. you need a compounding pharmacy but my co pay was only $8.00!
Has anyone used Celebrex for their Crohn's? I have severe joint point pain and I have been told that Celebrex is a huge help for this. I am wondering about side effects and medicine interactions.
She is 64 but she also has osteoporosis and arthritis in her lower back. The back doctor just prescribed Celebrex, is this the safest drug for her? Also what should people with Hep C do to better care for their liver eventhough so far she seems to have a healthy liver. For the osteoporosis she is on Fosamax. She has been on it for several years. I am just afraid that too many potent drugs can be harmful for her liver.
Hey Hopey. I was just prescribed Celebrex too!! I'm very anxious to see how well it helps b/c i have constant back pain and have tried several meds that haven't given ANY relief. I started the Celebrex today, 600 mgs. And will take 400 mgs/day after today. The dr DID say it can take a few days to start feeling relief from it.
I have been on methotrexate and celebrex for at least 15 years, probably long. I am currently in a tremendous amount of pain in my fingers, elbows, shoulders, left knee and left hip. Volteran gel has not helped at all and neither has Aleve. Can I take tramadol with these two drugs? I have recently switched my insurance and am waiting to get into a new rheumatologist.
t really that affective for me but my insurance made me try practically every NSAID on the market before they would approve Celebrex. They denied Celebrex and even recommended a PPI (ulcer med) to take with the NSAID's because they didn't want to pay for Celebrex. After they denied me 4 or 5 times, they finally approved it. So now I take 400mg of Celebrex a day and it's a lot more effective than any other NSAID i've been on.
I have had optical migraines as well as the typical headachey migraines but never for that long of a period. My neurologist is at Rush in Chicago and she said that you can have some inflammation of the nerves in the head and it not show up on an MRI...but if you have contrast, it should show any lesions and can even show small spots on the brain produced from migraines.
In May I was started on Flexiril, Cymablta and Celebrex for fibro dx. I have put on 20lbs since then. I am gaining over 5 lbs a month. No matter what I do I continue to gain. If I eat healthy...eat high protein...eat junk....and don't eat, I continue to gain. I am at a loss. I have weaned off the Cymbalta (didn't think it was doing much and don't want to be on any extra meds that aren't working). I was started on Savella yesterday too.

The headache starts just before my menstral cycle and lasts 5 - 7 days. I live on aspirin, neurofen, maxalt - these just relieve the symptoms and within 3 - 4 hrs the pain returns. I am blinded by the pain as it moves from left temple to right temple and then by the 3rd day, almost feels as though my eye balls want to explode, causing them to water constantly. I feel nauseous in my stomach and often feel as though there is ice water running over the top of my head or deep into my forehead.
April 2016, I had an arthroplasty at C 5/6 and a disc fusion at C 6/7. In March 2017, I was finally cleared to start on NSAID's again to try and get some of the inflammation down in my neck. I took Celebrex twice with no adverse side affects. The next week at 7:30am, I took a Celebrex. At 9:30 am, my symptoms started and haven't stopped. If anything, they have gotten worse.
Does anyone take celebrex?I started Prozak last week and they want me to take celebrex too. They say my liver can take it, (stage 2 fibrosis). But I am afraid of the NSAIDs in celebrex, any one else taking it? Oh, I am on Methadone too. I am having my first liver biopsy in the morning, so I will find out more about my liver. I am scared to death about it coz I have had so many problems lately.
No, it would be unheard of for Celebrex to damage your heart valve. Celebrex and similar drugs do cause high blood pressure in many individuals, though.
You might have gone forever and not known about the heart valve if you had not gotten high blood pressure from the Celebrex. Follow whatever advice the cardiologist gave you, and don't worry.
hi i have arthritis and i have had 4 joints totally replaced and i am only 35 with no kids. i am having so severe side effects from my med mainy celebrex i have had an heart test and was seen as early polarization , diagnosed with chronic gastrointestinal reflux and have skin rash and legions . i am thinking of a claim against them . but in the main time i dont want my doctors to feel bad as they have been with me since my early twenties.
Have you researched how long it would take to get the celebrex out of your system? And have you been off it that long? I don't think the celebrex changed your levels that much unless you took it at the same time as thyroid med, which is a "no no"...
Sorry to say that FT3 by itself is not going to help you, at this point.
I have the same problem with my shoulder and did the steroid injection and am on celebrex. I completely understand your fears. I also didnt want to take the celebrex at first because of the scary side effects but in the end the benefits out weigh the risks. You need an antiinflammatory to speed the healing. It won't be needed long term.
