A few days ago I woke up with pain on my lower eyelid, on the outer corner. It lasted all day, and then when I went to sleep, I woke up with no pain. That day I was fine. So I went to sleep and yesterday woke up with the inner corner in pain and swollen. It hurt all day and today I woke up with it even more swollen and red and painful.
Because he is allergic to Penicillan and Zithromax isnt very effective for any infection he gets (including ear or respiratory which he very rarely gets) the doc usually gives him Omnicef which works but wreaks havoc on his tummy. (unfortunately he cant tolerate Ceftbutin or Cefzil at all, which causes him to vomit) I dont understand why he keeps getting these infections.
From Sept - Dec I had 3 - 4 ear infections that included ringing in the ears and ear pain and developed diarrhea The last ear infection (still joint pain and back pain) I was put on Cefzil and I had to go to the hospital because of tingling and burning from head to tow. They switched my ab to Levaquin 250 for 7 days. No change in the infection, still had diarrhea, joint pain and back pain. AB was switched to Levaquin 500 for 10 days and I honestly felt GREAT!!
It is currently nothing that is bothersome, although this past month I developed an edematous cheek (possible sinus infection - of which I have never had) and was placed on cefzil. I have responded well to the antiobiotic and the edema is starting to subside. The lesion did bother me at the onset of infection - more an awareness, than pain. That could be in part due to the fact that it has grown significantly in the last 3/52.
has anyone on here had an ear infection during pregnancy? I'm 34 weeks and in constant pain, but am trying to avoid the hospital unless I absolutely need to. Is there any home remedies I can try?

we ear pierced my daughter in 10months.after 3 days the ear ring from left came out accidentally.then we tried hard to put it back as it caused pain to her.after that we can watch some watery fluid coming out but not too much.now she is 2+ years, same ear starts to creat a itchy sensation,watering sometimes so she started to scratch resulting in small bruises around the pierced hole.now the skin lookes pinkish and so delicate.
Gary has gone through a sinus infection, bronchitis, coxsakie, stomach bug, and now an ear infection in the past couple months. He was prescribed drops because he has been on antibiotics twice in 2 months. I don't think it is getting better after 6 days of drops. Once back home I went to my doctor and he diagnosed an inner ear infection causing the dizziness and it would go away in time. However eleven months down the line it is still there. On a daily basis I feel lightheaded. This can vary from feeling slightly lightheaded and able to carry on with life to feeling dizzy and completely housebound. I have to be very careful not to over do things or it makes my condition worse (e.g I need a lie down after the hoovering).
I had a blocked ear last week. i asked my gp about it and he said he can see wax. so he gave me softner. but after 2 days my ear started to hurt ALOT. i went to the gp again and he sent me to see an ENT specialist. i didn't get to see one but i saw a doctor who said my ear canal is inflamed so he gave me antibiotics. I took them for 5 days and the pain got worse, and my jawline under the infected ear is swollen and it's hurting right underneath my ear in my neck etc.
The doctor said that nicotine is highly toxic to the ear drums and that my child did indeed have an ear infection,so she prescribed a low dose of anti-biotics.My mother simply does not believe that she could hurt my child unless she actually smokes around her.Which I and my husband both know simply isnt true.
She has been the perfect addition to our family. My question is regarding her vet check up. The vet diagnosed an ear infection and recommended a bacterial gram stain. I was surprised that she refused to treat the ear infection unless the gram stain was performed. When a human has an ear infection the doctor seldom does a culture. Perhaps the diagnosis of an ear infection is more complicated when treating a dog? Do you beleive the gram stain was imperative in treating an ear infection?

I believe you are having Otitis Externa, i.e. infection of the external ear. Touching the ear or pulling it causes tremendous pain. The skin is adherent firmly to the cartilage of external auditory canal. The initiating event is believed to be an abrogation of the hydrophobic ceruminous coating of the external canal. Swelling occurring due to inflammation stretches nerve fibers and cause extreme amount of pain.

On Jan 13 I had muffled sound and a little pain in my right ear, that night it got worse. I felt the right side of my face swollen and had pain in my ear which did not allow me to sleep at all. I got some antibiotics by Thursday evening and was feeling a lot better by the 16th.
It itches very bad and is just inside the inner canal. White crusty flakes come out into my ear. The doctor gave me ear drops, but it seems to just make it drier. My wife has been putting monistat cream in there with a Q-tip which makes it feel better.
Do you know what medication I can use to permanently get rid of this? We live in a very low humidity area and it is very dry here.
