Avatar f tn I have FM for over 12 years now, I've read numerous books, I belong to the National Fibromyalgia Network, The Fibromyalgia Association, and follow the latest research on many aspects of FM. These include, medical and pharmaceutical research. There is NO evidence that people with FM have brains that age faster. There is a neurological aspect to FM that can affect our brains. Our neurotransmitters may not be firing right to put it simply.
Avatar m tn re: "No one in her family had cataract before." As they can tell, everyone will eventually get cataracts if they live long enough. It isn't merely that old age can cause cataracts, it appears it always eventually does, so that merely means no one in her family has yet lived long enough to do so. The odds though are that the cause of a cataract at a young age is different than typical age related cataract.
Avatar f tn I have the exact problem. I have ADHD. I dont remember a lot before the age of 13, from then I had to mostly relearn everything I had learned in my younger years. Now I find it hard to remember anything I read, listen to, or try and study. I feel lost and confused since I am only 19 with this type of problem.
Avatar f tn When I was younger(about 10 years old) I went swimming and got stranded out into the deeper water. I have breathing problems so I can't hold my breath and I have to plug my nose with my fingers, so when I swim it can only really be one-handed. The problem was the beach we were at had gigantic waves and since I can't swim underwater very well, I was pretty much stuck. I started freaking out and had a pretty bad panic attack and almost drowned when I tried going back in.
Avatar m tn In case you don't get a reply, your pharmacist likely knows the answers.
Avatar m tn Sleep Deprivation, Depression and stress are the things of which one of them can be responsible for My Memory Loss and Memory Problems. Just want to know if it caused by Neuron cell breakdown or something else for the mentioned reasons.
Avatar f tn Well, I'm glad I'm not alone in the memory department. Not that I would wish any one on this post, especially you Dave, to have memory problems, but at least I feel more assured that it is normal. Thanks for responding.
Avatar f tn Does masturbation causes any health problems and also does it causes memory and concentration problems?
1339419 tn?1275966042 Is this a direct side effect of high blood pressure, others with hypertension having suggested it effects their short term memory, or is it confined only to myself because of my memory problems? This is a very important question I need answered for a number of different reasons.
Avatar m tn Trouble with concentration (and sometime memory) in younger people can have other causes. One that comes to mind is low thyroid function, what is called hypothyroidism. Low thyroid function causes fatigue, weight gain, cold intolerance, constipation, and memory/concentration problems in addition to several other symptoms. Another possibility is anemia, which can cause severe fatigue and thinking trouble. In addition, other causes include certain vitamin deficiencies.
Avatar m tn Lonely, isolated, scared, you name it . . . My memory ***** too. Anyways, depression is a major factor in memory loss.
Avatar n tn Some patients may have problems in mixing up words for objects or can have trouble understanding or taking part in a conversation. Prevention in what concerns memory loss is whatsoever limited. Sudden memory loss cannot be prevented but patients who experience the symptoms of memory loss due to aging may keep their brain cells healthy and active with different exercises and dietary supplements.
Avatar m tn Do any of you know what is meant by caffiene or alcohol, or drugs can cause PVC's? DO they mean that prior use could cause PVC's some time later or that while using and having those substances in your systems cuase PVCs? I regularly drink caffiene, occasional (sometimes heavy) drink alcohol, and I dabbled in drugs in my younger years.
1260255 tn?1288654564 I've read people mentioning memory problems, but have not seen one type of memory problem discussed. Do any of you have problems where your memory does not store information? There are numerous occasions when I have absolutely no recall of conversations. This happened several weeks ago when my son called me at work. He told me that the grill was corroded at the bottom. I have no recall of this whatsoever, but his girlfriend was sitting next to him and vouches for him.
Avatar m tn If you feel well rested and have a positive attitude, then fine. Occasionally, people who spend long hours sitting in front of a computer will have lots of oddball visual and mental difficulties, so take some regular breaks from that. You can add picture puzzles to your soduku. Uses a little different part of the brain. Especially simple ones where you can see clearly where you're headed.
Avatar f tn As a child, I was diagnosed with ADD and depression, but I thought they went away. Lately, I have been having problems remembering things, lately being a few years. I was in a bad car accident and that was when it came to my attention. I'm not sure if I have always had this problem, but I know I have had some hard blows to the head in my life. My mind is all mixed up all the time. My thoughts are jumping from thing to the next and I end up forgetting what I was thinking just a second ago.
1830047 tn?1321667793 A doctor once explained to me that a particular anasthetic works like that. Consciousness and recording of memory are two different functions in the brain. She told me what I said while coming out of the anaesthetic, and I had absolutely no memory until a couple minutes later in the recovery room. I am a recent addition to this forum...Just out of curiosity, have you been checked out for Lyme Disease yet? What are your symptoms?
Avatar f tn When I was about 14 years old, I started having strange heath problems. I lost my sense of taste (literally, I would bite into food, and it would taste like plastic), and I started having trouble pronouncing words. I hid it from my parents because I was terrified. Then when I was about 17, I started having dizzy spells. I went to a doctor who told me I was fine, so I tried to ignore it for the next couple of years. Then the 24/7 head pain started.
Avatar n tn i am just concerned for the fact that the prolonged use of propranolol might cause any sort of memory loss to me. Kindly advise me in this regard.
1243818 tn?1270399452 Both of the drugs will impact your memory; I take Lamictal and it causes me some cognitive problems. I seriously doubt you have Alzheimer's disease, although the meds can make you feel that way.
Avatar m tn I would ask specifically about MS. However, I know a lot of people who have taken Lyrica in the past and now have similar symptoms. Some of these medications can cause these things, even after you stop taking them. You can check out the Lyrica Survivors group on Facebook if you want. It seems like Wellbutrin is another one that people have had problems with. If it is not MS, it could be from the medications you have taken.
Avatar m tn I'm not aware of increase obstructive sleep apnea in MS patients, but in theory, central sleep apneas can be seen in patients with MS. Using CPAP is his best bet in losing weight in general, along with the fat in his neck. Without examining him it's hard to say what's causing his breathing obstructions and what other options are available besides CPAP. However, surgical options are not as good for overweight patients.

Avatar m tn If all brain related causes (transient ischemic attack, disorders of hypothalamus, dementia and multiple sclerosis, head injury etc) are ruled out then Vit B12 deficiency, chronic fatigue syndrome, sleep disorders (by sleep studies), depression, use of certain drugs, and certain types of seizures (where memory loss is the predominant symptom) should be investigated for as the cause of memory loss.
Avatar n tn It is very important to rule this diagnosis out as it is highly treatable and if left untreated it can lead to vision loss. It is exceedingly rare in people younger than 55, and is more common in even older age groups. As you can see from the discussion above, there are many potential causes to your symptoms, some of which are more serious than others. It would be a good idea to discuss your symptoms with your primary care/family physician.
787406 tn?1339203183 I also started having memory problems and stuttering trying to find words two weeks before the EEG was done, which also started after the finger thing feeling in the hair and brain and the loss of focus. these last 10 to 15 minutes. The ones with blind spots are usually only there 1 to 3 minutes. I have been to 2 neurologist and they can't seem to come to a decision. First one did a EEG and said I had a focal over left and right temporal lobe with the left being the worst, MRI was normal.
