Avatar n tn Check for runny eyes, and take them to a vet if they do. I got 2 or 3 eye infections from my cat before the eye doc asked me about pets. The cat's eyes were a little wet, but weren't red or anything. I treated him for an eye infection and his runny eyes stopped and my eye infections stopped coming back.
Avatar f tn I am a contact lens wearer, and I continually getting eye infections, for about the past 2 years. (I've been wearing contacts for about 5 years.) My eyes get very red and become painful, and occasionally swell. I become very light-sensitive and my pupils constrict to the point where I can barely keep my eyes open. I have removed my lenses to see a mucus-like build up on several occasions. My doctor has prescribed me TobraDex in the past, which sometimes helps after a few days.
Avatar n tn My 9 yr. old cat has been sneezing for over 2 yrs. He also has constant left eye & left nose drainage...sometimes bloody. Vet has no answers here so gave him an antibiotic shot. The shot was ineffective. His appetite is fine.He does'nt purr out loud so I've wondered if it's an obstruction.
Avatar f tn over the next couple weeks i started getting vertigo whenever it felt like my ear was starting to open it would last 2 hours to 10 hours, not getting any answers from my doctor, i went to the emergency rm.
Avatar n tn Otodectes, Cheyletiella, Scabies, etc, ringworm and other fungal infections, allergies (allergies to food can occur anytime in the life of a cat), bacterial skin infections, endocrine disorders and more. Ringworm, and some mites can be transmitted to people. Frontline does not treat mites. The topical: "Revolution" is for fleas, ticks, ear mites, and scabies, so it might be a good idea to switch to Revolution for a couple of months.
267076 tn?1270674331 The last couples of days I've had a terrible pain on my forehead above my left eye. It comes on quick and at first feels like pressure. Then it turns into a burning pain - like someone opened up my head and pored boiling water into my head. It lasts for a few min and then lets up. I've never had this type of pain before. It seems to come and go. My head is stuffed up and my nose on that side is stuffed up. Does this sound like sinus?
Avatar f tn I do the sinus irritation thing-not the neti pot but a tube. The CVS pharm. recommended it to me. I had a CAT scan on my sinus which revealed nothing but I know I do cough from bronchtis and asthma and what has worked for me is a bronchiodialator "Combivent". That was also reccomended by my pulmonolgist. Dry hot weather spikes all of this it stinks, too cold and too dry, we can't win. Keep pursuing other allergy meds-nasonex works good for me-i get samples from my Dr.
Avatar f tn ve already had two infections of my eyelid on the left side.It would swell my eyelid almost till my eye was shut. I have a pretty bad history of staph infections. Also the roof of my mouth has been itching and when it starts to itch it will get these hard lumps on one side at a time. They don't hurt or anything they just itch. Now I'm starting to get a cough with phlegm in it and nausea like you would get from taking an antibiotic without eating first.
Avatar n tn Dear mom413: I also had an eye infection after my cataract surgery. I was told it was caused by dry eye. Evidently when the oily lipid layer of the eye is comprimised in any way the eye can't fight off infections as well. I don't want an eye infection or blepharitis back. My eye doctor has me on Restasis that is for people with dry eye. Please find out if that is what you have as I was told that this was what was causing my infection.
Avatar m tn My primary doctor referred me to an ear nose and throat specialist and says that I have a deviated septum which may be the cause of my sinus problems. The ENT said that it may just be allergies, but I have never had any problem with allergies in my life. Two weeks ago I visited my primary doctor and he ran a range of blood tests. Thyroid, Rheumatoid, Testosterone, mono, and blood count. All tests came back and were within normal range.
Avatar f tn My other cat Kramer was adopted at the same time, from the same place, and had even more health problems in the beginning, does not get this eye discharge. What is wrong with my cat? Should I be concerned or is this just allergies? His eyes are not red and he doesn't seem to be bothered by anything else...no itching, no sneezing, nothing inflamed. He eats normal, goes to the bathroom normal, plays a LOT with his brother, etc.
Avatar m tn Did you injure your nose, or is it swollen perhaps because of allergies or congestion? I ask because the dark circle under you eye can be from trauma or can be from allergies. They are called allergic shiners. If the swelling is putting pressure inside your nose it can give you a headache and/or earache. What nasal spray did he give you? But to answer you question, yes your symptoms can be because of the swelling in your nose.
Avatar m tn ve had an allergy test this is why you know that you are have animal dander allergies. Do you have a dog, cat , bunny or hamster as a pet ? Just wondering. Be well.
Avatar f tn I have sinus / rhinitis and I have been taking the claritin 10mg everynight. I have been experiencing rt ear throb on occasions, pain in eye sockets, headache on top of the head and when I bend to pick something up off the floor my eyes, nose, forehead feels heavy. I purchased some allergy meds which helps ease the aches in my eyes. I also take excedrine tense tabs which helps with the headaches. I am confused weather I should go to the ENT specialist or the optomologist or even both.
Avatar n tn Today I went for an eye exam and the eye doctor told me I have scars on my right eye caused from fungus from bird or bat droppings. Of course Im freaking out and thinking about walking away and giving it to the bank. Im not saying anything bad about my doctor, I just I have been going to my dr regularly lately for headaches and sinus issues Ive suddenly have. My dr says allergies but I have a hard time accepting that because Im in my 30s and never had this issue before.

Avatar f tn If the watering is mild and just clear, it could be nothing..My one cat occasionally has a watery eye or sometimes both that I wipe when I see it (maybe 1-2 times per week). However, she never squints or has any indication of a scratch/ulceration of the cornea.
Avatar n tn Ear mites, flea allergies, anal gland problem, urinary tract infections, hair balls, etc. can cause bizarre behaviors. For flea allergies, the actual flea is never seen. The flea can bite your cat, jump off, but can result in itching for a month.
611067 tn?1458591483 My cat does the same thing. I've had her looked at and they kept saying it was probably allergies. She also gets a weepy eye from time to time and I have to get an ointment to put in her eye. This last time we decided to try antibiotics in case it was some sort of viral bacteria or something. I've heard herpes in cats can cause these type symptoms too. You might want to get that checked out. Otherwise, it's probably just allergies.
1232362 tn?1333135406 I have had bad cat allergies to cat hair- it's probably not a good idea to have cats if you have asthma or other lung diseases
Avatar n tn It started out on Thursday as a dull ache that would come and go about 2/3 inches behind my ear (level with my eye). It would only last around 10-30seconds - but enough to notice it. Saturday it was a lot worse - occurring every 10/15 minutes right throughout the day and was almost unbearably sore. It was around the same all Sunday and on monday it was just as sore but not quite a frequent.
Avatar f tn It starts out with ear infections, then itchy skin, hot spots, dragging his bottom, runny eyes or eye infections. The vet will tell you he has allergies. These are all signs of a weakened immune system. If this continues on then the immune system becomes so weak the dog developes cancer. All dogs have cancer cells, as do people, but our immune system keeps them in check, but when the immune system isn't functioning properly the cancer cells multiply.
1565420 tn?1304572548 hyperthyroid, Inflammatory bowel disease, constipation, food allergies, gastrointestinal parasites, urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal cancer, and more. Your cat has not been to the vet for over a year. That is seven years in humans and a lot can change in 7 years. Please take your cat back to the vet and have blood work including thyroid testing, and a urinalysis.
Avatar n tn These all can cause a sore eye and watering from the eyes. Conjunctivitis due to allergies or infections either viral or bacterial is the commonest cause of red sore eyes, itchiness and discharge. It is best to get your eyes checked by an ophthalmologist and only after a correct diagnosis treatment can be started. Treatment will be specific based on the cause. Do write to me again. Best of luck!
Avatar n tn For example if someone is allergic to cats their eyes may be fine at the Eye MD office but at home near the cat (or dust, smoke, dander, pollen, etc) there may be inflammation, or allergies to make up, solvents at work, may only be present at work, out doors, while wearing some types of make up. So the answer is NO, not always.
