cat-allergies

Avatar n tn Yes of course just don't leave them alone together, kittens are curious and will scratch and babies are the same, curious and will pull tails lol
Avatar f tn Okay I have cats and my husband changes the cat box for me but my mom has a lot of cats and I never changed the cat boxes at her house but I could smell them ( she is also never home and leaves them there at her house with nobody there with them) she would clean the house but I still could smell it she also had a dog in the house.
Avatar f tn Try putting like some vics on the doorway. We had a problem with the cat clawing the doorway and cats hate the smell....and now he won't even go near our door. It may work.
541150 tn?1306033843 ve always had cats right along with the babies and never had a problem with allergies. IMO allergies have an increased chance of developing when a baby has never been exposed to animals....since their bodies have never had the opportunity to develop antibodies. You may need to have a mother son talk with Abby tho about sleeping with you, this will really be hard for Abby to understand for awhile...
Avatar f tn It's the litter box. They suggest that you do not change the kitty litter. Also when the little one is here make sure the cat doesn't sleep in the same bedroom as the baby. Cats like to cuddle and there have been incidents of them suffocating babies. So get a good monitor keep the doors shut.
9138366 tn?1410253633 I have a cat and he sleeps by my head everyday. After I put my crib up I walked in with him sleeping in it.
Avatar n tn We've had our cat for about 6 months, she's never been outside. We live in a 1 bedroom apt. which means she sleeps in the living room. Our son is about to be born soon, and though we've kept telling ourselves today is the day we kick Toffee out, we just don't have the heart to do it. We've heard cat hair is bad for babies, and thats why we need to get rid of Toffee. Is cat hair really bad, or can Toffee stay? I have no idea what to do with her anymore!
7845323 tn?1394873413 There have been back and forth studies about allergies and pets, specifically cats. Dogs have been believed to lower the chance of allergies where as until recently cats were suppose to increase it. Now it is believed that both cats and dogs are good for baby on the allergy front. I wouldnt worry.
Avatar m tn Are you sure you are allergic to her cat and dog? Has an allergist actually told you that you are allergic to cat and dog dander. I had an allergy test done by an allergist many years ago. The allergist confirmed I have an allergy to cat dander, a very low one though. I have asthma too. This may sound strange , but my husband and I have a cat right now. This is our third cat, they've all been rescue cats. I don't know if an air purifier may help.
Avatar n tn My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays, she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.
326352 tn?1310994295 The daugher with the issues just turned 2, was diagnosed with asthma about 6-8 months ago (does breathing treatments regularly with Albuteral). She was allergy tested yesterday and came up with a 4/5 allergy to cats. She has moderate to severe eczema being treated with topical corticosteriods (Elidel, Elocon, something else) and has now been prescribed what is probably the REST of the list of cortocosteroids by the allergist. We've tried Singular in the past, but it made her mean.
1232362 tn?1333135406 I was hoping you would come along and answer - thanks FM. Don't you also give Akira a little Zyrtec?
5609181 tn?1375332372 ) I love my cat, and he just lounges around anyway but my moms cat that I watch is hyper and she brings his catnip when he comes and he calms down enough to just walk around
Avatar f tn He is already learning to be gentle and at 8 months old knows not to pull on their tails or be rough with them. It is also proven that pregnant women and babies have less chance developing allergies if they are in contact with cats.
Avatar f tn I just got a Siamese cat and ever since i've gotten her i've had headaches. sometimes i forget about them then they come back every so often, no other symptoms. I would like to know if keeping her around getting these random headaches every so often is dangerous for me in the long run.. or if I can stand the symptoms then I can keep her around... is this a problem that will become serious or can I just keep her around? Please reply.
Avatar f tn Sniffles, I think you got that name regarding the allergies eh? First off, if your friend don't mind, make sure the cats can be brushed. You might or might not know this, but it's not the hair that we are allergic to, it's the cat's saliva. They clean themselves with the saliva and then it gets on the hair. So it's not just the cat/s, it's anything the cat licks or gets the hair after it cleans itself on. Brushing the cat before and after visits will help.
Avatar f tn And my oldest male cat is very jealous. When i got my other cat, he attacked me and the other cat several times before he got used to her.
Avatar f tn Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.
Avatar n tn I know this question may sound ridiculous but are people with hiv more prone to allergies? I've been having allergies for the past month or so to my cat or something in my house that i have never had a problem with before. Could this be a sign that i have hiv? I've only had one high risk behavior in my life and that was about 9 months ago when a condom broke on me. THe girl said she is 100 percent sure she has nothing but that is not really enough assurance for me.
Avatar m tn We have one cat that has free reign in the house, and four that are outdoor and have a few rooms they can access. I gave my indoor cat a lot of catnip when I thought she would be stressed by our son. When he got big enough, he gave her the catnip. Once she realized he might be the source of good things, she decided he was OK. Rescue Remedy is a sort of herbal treatment that some people put in the cat's water to try to calm them. Might also be worth a shot.
2169449 tn?1358489923 I take Zyrtec 10 mg tablet daily im allergic to my cat/ seasonal allergies etc.
Avatar f tn already i feel better, my ent didnt do any testing at all, just hearing test, i am waiting to set up an appointment, for a cat scan of my sinuses, i am hoping it is all just due to allergies and, as my ears r hurting and nose is stuffed up, glands r swollen, i feel miserable. i do have to go for a vng test, but not until next month, and i am not looking forward to it, i am hoping the cat scan will show it is all just do to allergies and nothing more..
Avatar f tn When would they do allergy tests on baby? I have a kitty and was just thinking about what if she is allergic??
Avatar f tn Recently my cat has been ripping out his fur a LOT more than normal. He's not grooming, but tearing it right out, and it's now around the hind or inside of his legs. He is around 9 years old, a black cat, neutered, less than obese, and have been giving him (probably) healthier food such as the Wellness Brand seafood dry food and Natural seafood wet food, sometimes giving him Friskies wet food as a reward.
Avatar f tn hey guys, I'm 4 weeks pregnant and the whole time I've been getting sinus allergies from mine and my partners dogs!!
Avatar f tn m not sure what your cat is like but I know that cats can become very jealous of New babies and cause them harm or even death in retaliation. I think you should watch that cat around the baby or get rid of it.
Avatar n tn When I went home I played with my cat and the allergies returned. What could have caused this and should I adopt a new cat if I somehow now have cat allergies?
Avatar f tn Here’s the kicker, he has lots of allergies and is highly allergic to cats... and he has a cat. He used to suffer when anywhere near cats but for some reason they picked up a stray cat and wouldn’t you know it, ever since then these symptoms started and have been getting worse. My theory is that the constant assault of the cat dander is causing an autoimmune issue which is making his glands swollen which in turn are pushing on the nerves in his should which go into his arms. Is this possible?
