Avatar n tn It's not risky, but don't know how it would control diabetes. Type 2 Diabetes is a dietary disease, so it's possible it's beneficial effect on some people's digestion might be in play here, as well as its bitter qualities, but others don't do well on it -- it depends on the acid/alkaline state of a particular person's digestive system. Good for those who need it, maybe not so much if you don't.

Avatar f tn There may be no problem with having one bowel movement in two weeks. I have one to two bowel movements a day, I take probiotics that survive my stomach acid and make it to my intestines ready to digest food.It took me 5 to 7 days of probiotics to train my digestive system to perform as mentioned.I eat about the daily requirement of fiber a day: 35 grams.
1774905 tn?1314262865 I had a test about 3 years ago for a full feeling under my left breast and naseau and feeling full consistently. I found out that I have a very slow digestive system and was given some meds to help my stomach muscles digest my food, for big meals. They are not for long term. I am on medication for GERD indefinitely now. I had Polyps as well (had an Endoscopy & a Colonoscopy around the same time - same day???). Polyps non-cancerous and removed, but in family. Diabetes in family.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure if I need to see an Allergist, ENT, Gastroenterologist, Internist or who because about an hour after eating a carbohydrate I seem to get inflammation and swelling on my right side only...starting in my right sinuses, behind right eye, right ear, right throat, right lymph gland in neck, and going in a straight line down the right side of my chest and down to my right kidney.

Avatar m tn Here is a bit of nervous system trivia. Why so many of us have gut and digestive issues. When the baby is in utero a mass of cells develops that begin the process of creating the brain and nervous system. After a few weeks these calls divide and one group becomes the brain and the other the GI tract. They come from identical cells.
Avatar n tn When you habitually vomit, you body remembers. The enzymes used for digestion are also being thrown up when you vomit. Although the body will clearly reproduce those enzymes, their productivity may be low. Also, your body is made to survive itself. If you throw up regularly, it would hold onto food longer as 'storage'. I was anorexic for almost 13 years and struggled with bulimarexia on and off within that period of time.
Avatar f tn its just your digestive system digesting your food.
875771 tn?1240274933 Actually, no, it is not normal to have undigested food sitting that long in your stomach. I would try a good pro-biotic and a good digestive aid. The pro-biotic will put the "friendly bacteria" in your system and the digestive aid will help to digest food that is otherwise hard to assimilate. I believe both can be taken safely with the drugs you are on. You should tell her about the blood in the stool however, sometimes that can mean more than digestion difficulties.
Avatar m tn Gastrointestinal transit time is variable. Substances do not move uniformly through the digestive system. Materials do not leave segments of the digestive tube in the same order as they arrive.
Avatar f tn At one point during 2002 I was tested for cortisol levels because I was waking at 4 am with a zingy/panicky feeling that would not go away for hours. My AM cortisol levels were off the chart. Once I got my digestive system more normal the cortisol was better, but still there. Since then for the past 9 years I have had continual elevated cortisol in early morning.
Avatar f tn Hi there, I am a 31 year old female recently diagnosed with Dissacharidase Deficiency, otherwise known as carbohydrate malabsorption. Avatar m tn Consult a gastroenterologist for your digestive system and reduce the frequency of masturbation. and do not worry about non essentials. Google, abdominal breathing and practice it for 10 minutes twice a day. Use it when you have unwanted sexual arousal. This way frequency of masturbation will be reduced. With improved digestion and low frequency, you will be okay.
1701959 tn?1488551541 Keep in mind that the medications for anxiety, particularly antidepressants, cause many digestive problems as well. There is a book called the Antidepressant Solution that discusses this, though I'm not sure the recommended diet is a good one. But anxious people tend to do things that irritate the system as well, such as eating poorly, at the wrong times, eating too much, not eating slowly enough and thoroughly chewing their food.
Avatar n tn Hello, I had excess of acid from my stomach coming to my mouth for a couple of weeks. Some web-pages say that having this for a long period affects negatively on digestive tract and mouth (e.g., teeth). What is "long" in this case? It seems that my system buffered this excess during days well, but I am not sure about nights. So, on a related note, what is pH of saliva that a healthy person has in the morning (before swallowing) and during night? Thanks.
