4409107 tn?1354710262 Which means the hyperactivity is caused by an allergic reaction of some sort. My client has an issue with digestion which causes less amylase production in the pancreas, if there isn't enough amylase in the system, there is inflammation, HSV viruses, eczema, diabetes, etc. So her RA is controlled with Super Enzymes and DHEA. I appreciate your assistance.
Avatar n tn the thing that helped me the most was something called the specific carbohydrate diet, which is quite strict. i was on it for 5 months -- big improvement in digestion. however, i lost too much weight (i'm quite thin) and it was very incovenient for me. if you can commmit yourself to it, i would highly recommend it. also, water fasting has helped me in the past temporarily. i've done it from one day to about 4 days.
Avatar n tn ll want to make sure that they only contain Proteases, Lipase and Amylase and no other active ingredients. Prescription enzymes are the best. There are sustained-action enzymes and immediate release enzymes. A combination of the two can work wonders but you'd need to get instructions from your doctor and then figure out what works best for you. Enzymes take several weeks before they work. Enzymes are also sold in health food stores but, again, watch the ingredients.
Avatar f tn I take domeproridone 5mg to help with digestion but pain is still there. I still have difficulty swallowing. I am confused by these attacks because the feel the same as before gallbladder removal. Lost 21 lbs since July. Will be undergoing barium swallow and another test to see how my stomach empty. I am starting to wonder about my pancrease/liver? What kind of test should I have done to rule out stones or bile problems? Thank you!
Avatar n tn I had brittle, thin nails with wavy ridges, and white spots in them that went away after the magnesium and calcium issues resolved...I still use papaya enzymes that has also amylase, lipase, and protease in them...They are chewable, and don't taste too bad!
Avatar n tn It's not risky, but don't know how it would control diabetes. Type 2 Diabetes is a dietary disease, so it's possible it's beneficial effect on some people's digestion might be in play here, as well as its bitter qualities, but others don't do well on it -- it depends on the acid/alkaline state of a particular person's digestive system. Good for those who need it, maybe not so much if you don't.
Avatar n tn So, the higher the amount of these nutrients in the body, the more is the requirement of amylase. Eventually, the level of amylase falls down from the normal recommended level, thus manifesting amylase deficiency symptoms. As amylase enzyme is deficient in the body, the dead WBCs are not digested, which in turn leads to formation of abscesses. Contrary to the skin abscesses caused by infections, amylase linked abscesses contain only pus without microbes.
646729 tn?1223628996 About three month ago, I started feeling unwell and would get unconcious once in a while. I had a blood test done, and the result showed that my amylase level was 95. I repeated the test one week after and it had gone up to 98. Again repeated the test in a month and the level had gone up to 186. I had an ultrasound done, and the result showed there was nothing wrong with my pancreas. The Dr. stopped looking for the reason, but I am still suffering from nausea, weekness and get unconcious.
Avatar m tn I have found that many people have become intolerant to breakfast cereals, though I don't know just why. If it's a problem with carbohydrate digestion, a digestive enzyme blend with amylase should end the problem. It might also be caused by a deficiency of stomach acid, and the combination of milk protein and carbohydrates. Oh well, I'm still workin' on this.
Avatar f tn s affect the kidneys and this would raise your Amylase. Did you have a high Amylase before the UTI or during? I would retest after the UTI clears. The stomach pain is another matter. If your amylase and lipase are still high after the infection you should see your doctor about the stomach pain. It could be pancreatitis.
Avatar n tn The fats combined with the carbs delay the digestion time. It is good to know this so you can learn to adjust. I find it enough of a problem that I actually rarely eat pizza. The only way to perfect the control would be to do a blood test in the middle of the night and to then adjust with extra insulin. French fries are the other fat-laden carbohydrate that I notice digests equally slowly.
Avatar f tn I have been formally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and possible Carbohydrate Intolerance. My issue is when I eat a load of carbs, it hits up to 3 days later and I can't hardly get out of bed and am weak most of the day. Everything I read about Carb Intolerance says that fatigue usually hits within the first few hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Carb crash, a day or days after the carbs are eaten?
Avatar f tn Hi there, I am a 31 year old female recently diagnosed with Dissacharidase Deficiency, otherwise known as carbohydrate malabsorption. According to my gastro, a bad viral infection I acquired almost 18 months ago knocked out only my lactase enzymes, but also the enzymes neccessary to break down sugars, most carbs and all starches. I also became seriously sensitive to fructose, the sugar found in fruit.
Avatar f tn Digestion of food begins in mouth through chewing/enzymes, then reaches stomach where all solids are broken down to a thick liquid containing the nutrients such as proteins, vitamins, carbohydrates, etc., by HCL/enzymes. This VERY ACEDIC liquid enters your duodenum and is Neutralized by bile from your gallbladder/liver as soon as it enters. If the acid is NOT neutralized, then it will damage your duodenum hence you have PAIN on upper right side.............
Avatar m tn in this case, google "special carbohydrate diet". It is a diet which got invented for people with huge bowel problems like H pylori, crohns and IBS. The goal in this diet is to a) kill bacteria by starving them, but not you, b) get some easy digestible nutrients back into you, c) get the inflammation down and d) change the bacterial flora so no bad bugs can survive. Give it a test run for 1 month, and if it is not helping, you can always go back.
Avatar f tn The pain has been getting worse but CT scans are negative despite recently a serum amylase of 633. My Gastroenterologist says surgery (cholecystectomy), is not warrented since the CT scans are negative. What is causing the elevated amylase? CT scan shows no pancreas abnmormality. EGD just yesterday shows no ulcers. He has just taken me off the nexum, lipitor and azor. No ETOH, no NSAIDS etc. Every time I eat I have this pain. It is driving me crazy. I had been taking ibuprofin for the pain.
Avatar n tn Amylase can be related to the pancreas.
Avatar f tn My gall bladder was removed 25 yrs ago.I had abdominal pain 10 days ago. My Doctor think I have pancreatis. Blood test showed Lipase level was 1412 & Amylase was 273. Three days ago, I had my 2nd blood test done, Lipase down to 382 & Amylase down to 273. but both of them still within the high level range. What can bring Lipase & amylase down to normal. What kind of food I should avoid? Should I eat light for 3 more weeks?
Avatar n tn I also wanted to add, I hope they are soaking the corn flakes? Anything made into a saluable solution can cause the food to expand in your horses stomach therefore creating numerous digestion/gastrointestinal issues, such as frequent colic.
Avatar f tn Hey just wondering if you have had an diagnosis for the raised amylase? I have had amylase of 140,no one seems concerned but I am as I have read a lot about pancreas issues. i have had ongoing nausea for 3 months which just over the last week seems to have eased. Would love to hear how you faired with your reading.
1303110 tn?1273247668 Foods that will help you gain strength and give you energy are proteins (like eggs, hamburgers, seafood, beans) and eat those with a carbohydrate like toast, cereal, spagetti. If you have been sick for a while, drink stuff like V-8 and milk, to restore your electrolytes and vegie nutrients.
4630695 tn?1357357910 Just recently, i was diagnosed with slow digestion which gave me bacterial overgrowth. I had extreme diarrhea everyday and sometimes vomiting for 7 weeks before i was prescribed Xifaxan. I immediately started feeling better after the first dose. About two weeks after Xifaxan, i woke up with diarrhea again but just for a day. I was told to take Florastor, i am. After that i was constipated for 6 days until today that i have been going to the bathroom all day.
