Avatar n tn i have similar problems. the thing that helped me the most was something called the specific carbohydrate diet, which is quite strict. i was on it for 5 months -- big improvement in digestion. however, i lost too much weight (i'm quite thin) and it was very incovenient for me. if you can commmit yourself to it, i would highly recommend it. also, water fasting has helped me in the past temporarily. i've done it from one day to about 4 days.
Avatar n tn It's not risky, but don't know how it would control diabetes. Type 2 Diabetes is a dietary disease, so it's possible it's beneficial effect on some people's digestion might be in play here, as well as its bitter qualities, but others don't do well on it -- it depends on the acid/alkaline state of a particular person's digestive system. Good for those who need it, maybe not so much if you don't.
Avatar m tn tgreen - Have you heard of Reactive Hypoglycemia, also called postprandial hypoglycemia? It occurs in people who do not have diabetes. It's a different type of hypoglycemia than the one that affects people who have type 1 diabetes. I'll quote Wiki, "It is thought to represent a consequence of excessive insulin release triggered by the carbohydrate meal but continuing past the digestion and disposal of the glucose derived from the meal.
Avatar n tn I had never this kind of problem earlier and also no one has this in my family. Recently I found that If I scratch anywhere in my body it gets worst. Even if I press my nail softly it create a mark but color doesn't change. Specifically when digestion problem occurs and when the environment is too hot, it makes me to itch on my body and it happens. I am 30 years old male person. When I am in office (AC Room), it does't not happen unless there is no problem of digestion.
Avatar n tn My 7 year old daughter is a type 1 diabetic diagnosed last October. We are only in target (130) about 15% of the time. As soon as we think we have control - something happens and sugars go high. A1C's have been 8.5; however, the last two months have been so out of control that I worry about her future health. A question.. last eve, we went out to Chuckee Cheese. She ate one small piece of pizza, small piece of cake and 1/4 cup of ice cream and ran around playing hard for 5 hours.
Avatar f tn Can you eat seeds? That would allow you to eat wild rice and buckwheat, for two. They are seeds, in the fruit family, not grains, and are quite low in sugars. And what about fish? The essential fatty acids in wild caught fish would probably help. As for nutritional help in California, that's the center of nutritional help. Probably a million of them. Every actor and actress there has a nutritionist, and it's the center of holistic medicine in the US. Sounds tough.
Avatar m tn in this case, google "special carbohydrate diet". It is a diet which got invented for people with huge bowel problems like H pylori, crohns and IBS. The goal in this diet is to a) kill bacteria by starving them, but not you, b) get some easy digestible nutrients back into you, c) get the inflammation down and d) change the bacterial flora so no bad bugs can survive. Give it a test run for 1 month, and if it is not helping, you can always go back.
Avatar n tn Anything made into a saluable solution can cause the food to expand in your horses stomach therefore creating numerous digestion/gastrointestinal issues, such as frequent colic.
6824408 tn?1385138508 We have also started to soak her dry food in some warm water to help aid digestion. Out next effort will be giving a little organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar since I have read it has several health benefits, including to aid digestion. Does anyone else have any ideas as to what might be wrong or things we could try to help before going to the vet? I wasn't sure if these are the signs of a grain allergy and if we should switch her food to a grain free one.
Avatar f tn I have been formally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and possible Carbohydrate Intolerance. My issue is when I eat a load of carbs, it hits up to 3 days later and I can't hardly get out of bed and am weak most of the day. Everything I read about Carb Intolerance says that fatigue usually hits within the first few hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Carb crash, a day or days after the carbs are eaten?
1303110 tn?1273247668 t overdo it. You can take a class in it and learn the movements. But if you exercise too much in general, your MG might flare. After activity, you must give your muscles time to rest. Supposedly asparagus contains steroid-like properties that can strengthen muscles. Also, dark green vegies are good, like spinach, and so are bran and whole grains, because they all have magnesium in them, which lack thereof can weaken muscles.
Avatar f tn For those who take mealtime insulin, blood sugars have a tendency to rise in 1-2 hours and then drop over the next couple of hours. This is because the insulins we inject are much slower than the insulin the body makes, and also because people with diabetes lack hormones that slow the rate of digestion. The answer, as you alluded to, is not usually to take MORE insulin. Rather, we need to either make the insulin work earlier or make the food work later. This can be accopmlished by: A.
Avatar f tn I've been experiencing pains under my left breast, where the rib cage ends for a few days and it's starting to worry me. It's like a crampy sort of pain that occurs usually after eating, and it goes slightly to the side. It's nowhere near my heart so I'm sure it's not that. I've also been eating less.

Avatar n tn Presence of fresh red blood in stools is known as haematochezia in medical terms and indicates a lower GI bleed like piles, rectal ulcers, fissures, fistulas etc. Rarely a few infections/ inflammations may also present with fresh blood in stools. I would suggest considering an evaluation by a gastroenterologist. After a cause is identified, it can be managed accordingly. Hope this helps. Take care!

Avatar f tn I tried my best to eat healthy in my first trimester. Of course, I'm guilty fir some cravings. But what ever I eat, after some time, something rumbles on my stomach then I poo. I'm getting tired of this.
Avatar f tn Welcome to the gastroenterology community! What do you mean by "weight over a 150 pounds to boot"? Do you mean that she needs to loose 150 pounds to be at a normal weight? How long has this been going on for? Has she seen a doctor about this?

Avatar n tn I think you're making a common mistake in thinking about food, which is that protein is good and carbs are bad. This isn't at all true -- the majority of your diet should be carbs. Vegetables, for example, the core of a healthy diet, are carbs, whereas beef is very high in fat on purpose and hard to digest despite being high in protein and so is never weight-loss food.
