Avatar f tn Most fruits people think of as fruits are almost all carb. If it's not fat or protein it's carbohydrate, which is why the whole concept of low carb diets is off. Vegetables are carbohydrates, but it wouldn't be healthy do without them. What low carb really means, or should mean, is avoiding simple carbs, such as sugar and white flower. Most fruits as we think of them are high in sugar, though it's not as quick to metabolize into simple sugar as processed cane sugar.

I'm doing workout for my abs but my fat is still there. I'm on a no carb, no sugar diet. It did help me lose weight but not the fat on my stomach. Any suggestions?

1401296 tn?1280799533 Low carb does not have to mean no carb. You end up just eating the good carbs and in smaller amounts than most people. You don't have to eat bacon and pork rinds and it doesn't have to be unhealthy if you do it right. Most people don't do it right. They don't eat any carbs and then pig out on high fat protein. You can't go on and off as you please. Your body works differently on it and has a hard time switching back and forth.

Afternoon snack I get 1 fruit, 1 carb, 1 protein. For dinner I get 3 veggies, 1 fruit, 3 starch, 4 protein, 3 fat. Bedtime snack I get 1 milk, 1 carb, 1 protein. It's a lot of food. I found salads worked well and I combined a lot of my food that way.

I have it set for 1200 cal 25%carb 30%fat 45%protein. I have had blood sugar issues but haven't been sticking with the program. I have been feeling crappy lately so I started tracking sugars again and it's not so great. I plan to got to the Dr. next week to have my a1c1 checked. It's been a while.
Avatar f tn If your job is active, then you need to be eating plenty of carbs throughout the day, because the body stores lots of fat, not lots of carbs and it burns carbs way more than it burns fat. You can burn all of your carb stores in an hour, so you should be eating more of them than any other food, hence why ahtletes eat carbs more than anything else too.
Tbd Many chose a new way of eating (WOE), LCHF (Low Carb High Fat). as diabetics it is carbs that raise BG, eating low carb works well for controlling BG. The "eat low fat" mantra is based on BAD science. even the US CDC says cholesterol in the diet is not a concern. Also when carbs are removed from the diet then some other form of energy is needed... fat. I eat under 50 gr of carbs a day and have been since 2000.
Avatar f tn This is why some people get high blood sugar and heart racing after drinking a large protein shake (with low carb and no fat). Eat fat with your proteins, like full fat yogurt. Eat three meals per day, no snacking in between, and typical meal looking like this: green or low-sugar vegetable with meat/flush/eggs and healthy fats (olive oil, coconut oil, grass fed butter, avocado, nuts, etc). Stay away from carb rich stuff like beans, rice, pasta, bread, flour, etc. stay away from sugar.

I do an insulin to carb ration fofr all meals 1:5, 1:6 and 1:7 and an adjustment of 1:2 this is for novorapid and then I take Lantus at night 37 units although i don';t always wake up between 5-6 like he wants me to. Still I have read online that Lantus causes weight gain althoug it is better than NPH apparently. Althoug I used to take NPH and still I was 30 pounds lighter. So now with novorapid and Lantus have gained 30 pouds.
Avatar f tn Low carb diets won't help you burn fat (unless you are starving yourself), just water loss and muscle (protien stores) and low carb diets are very unhealthy for you, puts you into a state of ketosis, which creates ketones that are very toxic to your kidney and liver. To lose fat you need to eat healthy, gain muscle (muscle is your metabolism) and do aerobic cardio and sometimes implement intense cardio, such as HIIT. You need to do more than just go on a diet.

Avatar m tn High triglycerides can suppress HDL, and are associated with high VLDL. Also, high carb and low fat is what causes the preponderance of small dense LDL. The wine might help raise HDL a little bit, but will raise triglycerides even more. I'd ditch it, even though moderate alcohol is generally cardioprotective for most others. I am not a low-carb dieter myself by any means, but it's uncanny how the low-fat / high-carb seems to be going wrong for you.
451075 tn?1210258648 The thing is, if you go back to your regular way of eating, chances are very good you will regain those 4-5 pounds in no time. I love eating low-carb. I've done it on and off for several years. It keeps me away from things that 'sound' healthy for me, like whole wheat crackers, which I might as well staple to my belly for all the good they do me! I recently had my cholesterol checked and my numbers were terrific. And I actually feel better eating low-carb!

Working out is extremely important to losing weight quickly and keeping it off. It is best to do some sort of resistance training like weight lifting. If that is not an option, cardio workouts work too.

Avatar f tn It is quite opposite to the establishment high carb low fat diet. This diet needs to be high fat, moderate protein and low carb. Essentially the carbs are replaced mostly with fats, and with some additional protein.
