Avatar m tn For the last 4 years I have been lifting weights and trying to following a low carb diet plan. My day starts out at 0400 when I hit the gym for my workout. At this time in the morning my BGL is usually 103-113. After my workout my BGL is about 15-20 points higher. Is this normal??
Avatar f tn Right after my workout I drink a 50g protein shake and 15 minutes after that I have 100–150g of carbs via dextrose powder (I eat Twinkies, cookies, donuts,...) 9: One hour after my workout I will have my big solid meal, (whatever I want as long as it has a good amount of protein). 10: By this time I have consumed 100g of protein via shake and 40–60ish grams of protein via solid meal (depending on meal).

Then, your post-workout fuel protein and carbs will mimic what you had before your workout. You should avoid fructose, that will prevent post exercise fat burning. Avatar m tn It dropped to 120 and stayed there for several hours before very slowly coming down to 100, it was at 95 five hours after workout. Every time I would stand up or move, it would shoot back up to 110-120 and feel like it was pounding out of my chest. This pounding usually happens when I stand up from a sitting position but settles down after a few seconds, but this was different. I had no other symptoms aside from pretty bad anxiety upon realization it wasn't coming down.

Avatar f tn The highest BG registered was 121 which was an hour after eating dinner (which included a sweet potato) and an hour after that it was 97. I tested 2 hours after dinner tonight which was low carb (no sweet potato), and it was 83. (I used the control solution before using the meter and it was in the correct range so I assume it's accurate).

If you want to step it up a notch diet-wise, you could look into ketogenic diet, which can further normalize blood sugars for some. Changing your exercise time (maybe late afternoon / evening, if you typically exercise in the morning) may be worth a try. Other possibilities: - a small late night snack (with protein and fat) may help bring down your fasting numbers; this works for some.
Avatar f tn Belly fat is mainly dependent on a healthy diet. Many people get caught up with fat/carb content but it is even more important to focus on sodium/sugar content. Your body requires a healthy amount of all of these but high intake of sugar and sodium will cause you to retain more water weight obviously counteracting your desire for stomach definition. Isolating muscle groups during weight training 4-5 times a weeks is actually far more effective than whole body training 3 times per week.

I'm doing workout for my abs but my fat is still there. I'm on a no carb, no sugar diet. It did help me lose weight but not the fat on my stomach. Any suggestions?

I hate the spotting but have learned to see it as normal. Is it normal? I'm 22. I would say I'm in good health. I used to jog 4 miles daily. 2 or 4 miles I spot anyway. Does this happen to anyone else?
Avatar f tn However, I do have "pre diabetes" which I have had for over 10 years, so nothing new here. My A1C was 5.3. My numbers ever 1/2 hour were a little lower than what my monitor read. So, maybe it's my monitor? I don' tknow. But I"m putting it away for a while and not thinking about it LOL! So, that's that. So, what I still and only have is "neuropathy in my feet".

Avatar f tn Do you do Cardio before or after your workout? What time do you workout and do cardio? Do you do cardio on an empty stomach First thing in the morning to attack fat storage? There is so many things that you could be doing wrong and franly haven't provided the proper information for someone to give you the proper advice!! If you could be a little more specific maybe I could help you reach your fitness goals!

Try eating something with high protein (lean meats, fat free cheese, etc), and high fiber, which will fill you up. Try eating lots of veggies - most veggies are considered "free" foods, meaning that they have few. or no, calories, but really add bulk.
