Capecitabine dose

Common Questions and Answers about Capecitabine dose

xeloda

Avatar m tn Mother (66F, colon CA IIIB) is starting her 4th round of XELOX (capecitabine+oxaliplatin) and has 4 more to go. Her neutrophils are naturally low (~1.6) without chemo (possibly related to the synthroid she has been taking since 2010?). By round 2 her neutro dropped to .6 so they gave her Neupogen and stopped capecitabine for 4 days. They gave her a longer-acting version of Neupogen before round 3 and lowered the dose of oxa to 90%. Before round 4 her neutro was back down at .9.
Avatar f tn Hi there, I posted a few weeks ago to say my Mum may be going on a trial as they were all out of options. She started the trial yesterday. They are trying a combination of eribulin and capecitabine. As it's a phase 1 trial it's to establish a safe dose so she will be given the drugs in an increasing amount to see what the body can handle and the effect it has. I will keep you all posted on her progress and any good news that comes from the trial.
484033 tn?1208516117 Capecitabine, Fluorouracil, and Oxaliplatin. All three drugs, whether used singly or as part of a combination regimen, are relatively well tolerated and have "milder" adverse effects when compared to other chemotherapy drugs.
Avatar m tn The drugs involved are capecitabine and oxaliplatin, my instinct is to protect my remaining kidney by not exposing it to toxins it may have difficulty in clearing. Has anybody out there had a similar experience or has undergone chemo with similar complications?
Avatar f tn I would suggest consulting you doctor for alternative brands for the same drug (capecitabine), that might be cheaper or considering alternative thereputic measures that you may be able to afford. It might also be a good idea to contact the social services in your region, if they would be in a position to help. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar n tn Other side effects like neuropathy, hearing loss etc are less common and dose dependant ie they depend on the total dose of the drug given. You need to take care that your mom gets a good nutritious diet, fresh air, a little excercise, lots of tender loving care and support from family and friends. A positive attitude goes a long way in mitigating side effects of therapy and helping the body's immune system fight the cancer. So ensure that all of you stay positive and keep her motivated.
408448 tn?1286883821 t really have any experience with Xeloda (Capecitabine) but just did a bit of reading on it and it seems to have quite good response rates so I hope it is successful for you. The drug should act on the tumor in the same way that 5-FU does as it is basically converted into 5-FU inside the tumor. This should mean fewer GI side effects and less bone marrow supression as you don't have 5-FU in the rest of your body... Good luck with it.
5268376 tn?1406179712 My doctor Prescribed Zithromax i time dose at 2 500mg pills for an infection, and I have history of benign pvc's and pac's , while taking it i felt horrible . I felt worse than i have ever felt in life. It gave me unclear thoughts, I couldn't drive due to a foggy mind, it made my heart race and skip , i actually had to go to the ER because i thought I would die.
Avatar n tn This includes the drugs vinorelbine, capecitabine, gemcitabine and the taxanes. Still another option, particularly if the cancer is at an early stage, would be to use hormonal treatment alone instead of chemotherapy.
Avatar m tn My brother 51 year old had a expl laporotomy on 15 feb 2010, a single lymph node in the omentum was positive for adenocarcinoma with primary in GB ,underwent 8 cycles of chemo wIth Gemcytabine & cisplatin & also IMRT 25 cycles local radiation with gemcytabine .HIS CA 19.9 was initially 2400, then 400 in august but now is 3200.His latest PET SCAN shows some spread in liver, pancreas, infraclavicular node & is now being treated with CISPLATIN & CAPECITABINE.
Avatar n tn What chemotherapy has she taken so far? Were the tablets she took capecitabine? What is her ER/PR/HER2 status? Has she received any Zoledronic acid? Please let me know these details. All the Best, and God Bless!
Avatar n tn Xelox regimen (Oxaliplatin as infusion and Capecitabine as tablets) are given for advanced stage colorectal cancer. Please discuss with your doctor and read more about the sideeffects of Xelox, hairfall doesn't happen in this chemo.
Avatar f tn Had previous external beam radiation therapy to the liver Ascites, or are in clinical liver failure Markedly abnormal synthetic and excretory liver function tests Tumors amenable to surgical resection for cure Greater than 20 percent lung shunting (determined by the nuclear medicine breakthrough scan) Pre-assessment angiograms and MAA nuclear scans that demonstrate significant reflux of hepatic arterial blood to the stomach, pancreas or bowel Widely disseminated or extra-hepatic disease
1299647 tn?1329054747 after the chemo, which was intravenously administered was no longer available are Capecitabine (which lasts for 6wks as opposed to the the drip which lasted for 3wks) Dexamethasone (nausea) & Lansoprazole to help with gastric problems. He wakes during the night with severe pains in his stomach which thankfully don't last very long.Like i have already said his appetite is non existent.
Avatar f tn so i missed my dose of rivoferion last night fell asleep noticed this morning that i didnt take it. so nov.11th is is my last dose,by missing this dose did i just screw up my tx.i sure hope not!!!! and this is the first x.
Avatar f tn Went to see prof today and he may be starting trial on combining capecitabine with eribulin which she may be elegible for. I was interested to realise that although my mum had been gived carboplatin for her first line treatment they did not combine it with avastin at the time. They're not keen to giv her carboplatin again as it eventually didnt work but am now wondering if she should give it a go along with the avastin this time. Decisions, decisions. !
Avatar m tn In reality that is the dose exposed to at the skin on the beam side, and the dose decreases with tissue depth as some of the radiation is absorbed at each level as it penetrates tissue and is therefore gone and cannot expose the deeper tissues. Many people don't understand this, but tissues actually absorb radiation, and only a small % of the radiation exits the body to form the image. Say 100% radiation enters the skin, maybe a few percent leaves on the backside.
Avatar f tn A quarter grain is a very conservative dose, but I could be more specific if you post the lab work that led to her decision (with reference ranges from your own lab report, please). "She is also waiting 6 weeks to recheck and then only doing TSH as she says I don't need the T3 and T4 checked anymore since surgery." Six weeks is too long when actively adjusting meds. Four weeks is plenty of time. She's dead wrong about just testing TSH.
480035 tn?1222366164 Tommorrow try doing 6 mgs in the AM then 4 mgs in the afternoon, if you still feel thats not enough, try another 2 mgs. That would be a total of 12 mgs for the day. Once you get you dose right, stay on that for about 5-7 days then start dropping down til you get to about 4-6 mgs and level off at that for awhile.
Avatar f tn i am a non responder, after 2 previous tratments with other interferons, now after having a liver biopsy my dr wants me to go on pegasys with copegus, he wants to prescribe the 180mcg/0.5ml shot along which is prefilled but he wants me to take some of the other prefilled shot which would make it more than the normal 180 mcg. i did not ask him exactly how much it will total cause i have doubts about this,i have never heard of this. and may just stick with the 180 once a week.
220090 tn?1379167187 Does anyone have an opinion on Peg dose reduction for neutrophil of 650? I have a friend that is experiencing this and being told to reduce peg. I seem to remember that mine dropped once and my doc said not to reduce. Personally, I think dose reduction within the first three months of treatment is to be avoided except for very serious side effects.
Avatar m tn Welp...Took my final dose (ledipasvir/sofosbuvir/riba) this morning and gave my 12 week blood draw. We shall see. Doc gave me a realistic 80's % chance of svr given my prior Tx's and the fact I am cirrhotic. I have a better chance than ever before.
3093770 tn?1389739126 i was on the reduction for about 2 weeks. I also got 3 pints of blood. dose reduction is the first choice. my platelets and HGB both went back up and I was able to go back to my normal dose. the important thing is to stay on the full dose of Incivek and finish the 12 weeks. your counts will probably go up and they will resume your normal dose. hang in there and try not to worry too much.
