Can appendicitis pain be intermittent

Common Questions and Answers about Can appendicitis pain be intermittent

appendicitis

Avatar m tn Having been an EMT for many years I understand this could be appendicitis, however, I am confused about the pain free lapses. I live in the middle of no where with poor hospitals about 2 and a half hours away. I am hesitant to spend 5 hours in an ER and then having no pain when I am finally seen. Does it make sense to have classic appendicitis symptoms that go completely away for a few days at a time over a 3 month course?
Avatar m tn The local GP thought Sub acute appendicitis and prescribed antibiotics. My WBC at that time was normal. The pain was intermittent, some times sharp and mild. I never took the antibiotics. The next day the local GP said no appendicitis. After 15 days still the symptoms continued occasionally and a went to a Gastroenterologist who advised to take Taxim-O an antibiotic. I took it for 5 days. I took an ultrasound of the abdomen and the doctor said no appendicitis.
Avatar f tn HI, Right lower quadrant pain can be due to ovarian cyst or appendicitis. The intermittent nature of the pain is typical of appendicitis. However it can also be found when the ovarian cyst undergoes torsion. The fever suggests the possibility of infection. Hence it would be best to see your Doctor again. Once a correct diagnosis is made the appropriate treatment can be initiated. The answer is based on information provided.
Avatar f tn Throughout the day the passive pain became a little worse, still had intermittent spikes of stabbing testicular / abdominal pain, but also had now noticed a lot of pressure and pain in my lower back near my right kidney. Our biggest concern was “Cuada Equina syndrome” due to the numbness in my right leg increasing and testicular / lower back pain.
1699550 tn?1320286617 s more a feeling of generalized illness then pain. If you are having back pain, even though it appears to be the location of your appendix I would consider other conditions. If your current PCP will not look for reasons for your back pain I suggest that you find one that will take your pain seriously.
Avatar f tn I have been having intermittent bouts of description would be a dull needle like feeling mostly right of my belly button say 2 inches beside maybe and on the less often bouts that pain can be feeling on the left side same distance from my belly button that does seem to hurt much more if it happens on that left side but it almost always occurs to the, right side, with this and or without this pain kind of best described to be like a dull knitting needle pressing into something deep, I have many t
Avatar n tn Other times the pain on my right side is dull and aching, and sometimes this is replaced with a burning sensation. Occassionally I have pain just to the left of my bellybutton which can be quite sharp (as though someone were prodding me with a needle).
Avatar m tn Rarely I feel nausea or have to fight it, but of late yes I have hiatul hernia and osophegitis, never had pain but have got a sudden pinch hard for me to say sharp or dull just a pain that when bad causes nausea and i can normally fight that but this is sometimes over powering i fight it but it's just worrying the strength it feels it's like you must vomit and your fighting it with all you have to prevent it.
Avatar m tn I just woke up and it was already on that area. What can this be? I am scared it may be appendicitis but I feel like it is just from my fall yesterday.
Avatar n tn ve presumed wrong, I apologize). It could also be appendix - when appendicitis begins, it can begin with intermittent pain, and the fact that it makes it feel BETTER when you bend over, makes me lean more towards the appendix - one of the tests doctors use to check your appendix is to press on that area and then release that press - quite often with a bad appendix, when the doctor releases that pressure, the pain drastically increases.
Avatar m tn The dr has ruled out stones, appendicitis, ovarian cyst and IC. the pain is intermittent through out the day, every day but gets worse if I eat or drink ANYTHING. I see the Dr. again next Friday but I'm wondering if I should suggest a colonoscopy. I had one done 2 years ago before a hysterectomy and they found 2 benign polyps and removed them (at age 32). I only just though of this yesterday. My Dr.
Avatar m tn Hello~I am thinking it may be due to the appendix. Some folk have what is called "chronic appendicitis" this is where pain in felt in the area, but it does not get bad enough to warrant surgery. I would certainly discuss this with your physician to rule out any thing serious.
Avatar n tn I had my post-op meeting with my surgeon and explained the fact that my bowel movements have started to become irregular. Irregular in the sense that I don't always go once a day, when I do go it seems to be either hard stool or very loose (not completely water-like), and overall the quantity is well below my average when I feel I was "normal".
Avatar f tn Sometimes pain radiates down inner aspect of right upper thigh and sometimes up towards right upper quadrant. Pain almost daily, intermittent but not excruciating. At night time I am awaken by severe bouts of nausea without vomiting, other nights with severe cramping but no diarrhea. These night time symptoms are less bearable but they do not happen as often. When symptomatic, appetite is down but no weight loss. Black stool occurred twice in last year.
Avatar f tn It is possible to have pain originating from the appendix without true appendicitis. An appendicolith can be sitting in the appendix and cause pain as the appendix attempts to expell it. One can also find mucoceles that cause pain. Rather than trying to make a random guess as to it's origin, you would be better served to obtain appropriate medical evaluation. so a more accurate diagnosis could be made and reasonable therapy prescribed.
Avatar f tn I definitely think somethings wrong there and my appendicitis attack was also a bit unusual. I’m wondering if it could just be a form of IBS that can be managed ?
Avatar f tn today morning at 5 i had swear pain i went to the doc, they asked me for blood test, urine test n ultrasound, urine test showed some sign of appendix but ultra sound didnt, they sent me home n gave some pain killers! now i am developing the same pain again after about 20 hours, so i want to ask can it be appendicitis even if ultrasound doesnt show it?
Avatar n tn When I had appendecitis I woke up in pain with a lot of abdominal pressure and was admitted for surgery that day. It felt like I was really constipated or something (sorry TMI), and was nauseous. It sounds like the pain you are having is more likely related to the pcos. I have had ovarian cysts in the past and it felt a lot like what you are describing. I'm not an expert, just my personal experience.
696755 tn?1236016312 , silver dots, black dots and black clouds, sometimes they are still there when i close my eyes), ringing in ears, hear weird sounds (music, muttering ect), inability to stand from sitting position without using my hands, loss of concentration, memory loss, slurred speech or stuttering, sensitivity to light, intermittent headaches, tilted head (recent onset), continued right hip pain, occasional right shoulder pain, difficulty doing daily activities with right arm especially, burning sensations
Avatar n tn As far as I know, the most apparent symptom of appendicitis (inflammation of the appendix) is a dull pain in the stomach on the right side, that moves to severe lower right abdominal pain. http://www.webmd.com/digestive-disorders/digestive-diseases-appendicitis The above website explains different symptoms that could accompany appendicitis.
Avatar m tn How can you identify ovarian cyst pain? What is the usual size of the cyst need to undergo surgery? Describe the difference between appendicitis?
Avatar n tn As I said before, this may not be the case with you. Your pain and nausea could be symptoms of many different problems. It could even be an ulcer, but in any case, I would recommend that you seek help from a doctor who specialize's in stomach problems. I wish you the best of luck. Keep in touch.
Avatar f tn I have been suffering also from constant pelvic pain, bloating, nausea, intermittent constipation and diarrhoea. Pain on intercourse and constant stabbing pain in the vagina and sometimes cant sit down. It also hurts when I walk (I thought I had appendicitis). Fullness on eating. My consultant thought I may have early Crohn's so he sent me for a CT scan. The results came back and he said I have a 3cm ovarian cyst and was sending me for an Urgent Ultrasound scan !
Avatar f tn m not sure if its related but my knees began aching REALLY bad out of nowhere. If anyone can it would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I am a veteran last Thursday was brought to an outside VA ER for lower right quadrant stomach pain. They did lab work everything okay my WBC was 10.29 no fever. They did an Ultrasound which was highly susceptible for appendicitis it showed that it was not compressable, had minimal hypermiea, I was very tender and showed top normally enlarged.
Avatar n tn Unless the area is swollen and severely infected the tenderness may be noted when the skin is palpated. The pain of appendicitis is severe and may be influenced by movement and certain positions. I suggest immediate consult with your doctor.
Avatar f tn According to WebMD diagnosing appendicitis can be tricky: "Symptoms of appendicitis are frequently vague or extremely similar to other ailments, including gallbladder problems, bladder or urinary tract infection, Crohn's disease, gastritis, intestinal infection, and ovary problems. The following tests are usually used to make the diagnosis.
Avatar f tn I went to an aftercare and was told it could be appendicitis so they sent me to the er. The pain just kept getting worse and worse even at the er. They gave me a dose of hydrocodone and it did not even touch the pain. By now I was up to about an 8/10 for pain level. Then as the hour went on my pain became a 12/10 to the point where I was literally moaning and crying in pain in my lower right side all the way around to my back. They gave me two does of dilated at it did not touch it.
