Bystolic for hypertension

Common Questions and Answers about Bystolic for hypertension

bystolic

Avatar f tn I know that you have a nursing background but there are some hypertension specialists forum that mention that bystolic has been around in europe for a while and it is a good choice for those who cannot tolerate beta blockers. Blockers are not first choice treatment for hypertension but bystolic is okay, so a bit puzzled with your comment. And as you may know some people find a substantial decrease in panic and anxiety attacks when their hypertension is brought under control.
Avatar f tn Anyone have an increase in high blood pressure & heart palpitations while taking Buspirone for anxiety? I am 41 & female. I have genetic high blood pressure and take Bystolic for it. I have taken a low dose of Buspirone on and off the past few years. My doctor increased my dose a few months ago (I take 15 mg twice a day) and I feel like sometimes my heart palpitates and night. The palpitations are waking me up some nights. My BP also seems to be spiking on and off the last couple months.
Avatar m tn Have been taking bystolic and enalapril for the past month to treat hypertension. I am a very active 37 year old. However now that I am on this medication I feel tired after physical activity and have back pain. I have been flirting with herpetension for 20 years. Is the tiredneass and back pain normal?
Avatar n tn How accurate is an echocardigram in determining that you have pulmonary hypertension? My doctor says I have it because the pressure in my lungs is twice what it should be. He put me on Bystolic . How successful should that be?
Avatar m tn My main question is how low can your heart rate get and still be safe? I'm afraid to take a beta block for my hypertension because my hr at night gets as low as 55 without them. I'm 24 years old I have hypertension, I'm active/normal weight I also have LVH from my hypertension. Would it be safe for me to take this beta blocker bystolic My doctor has prescribed me? He said it wouldn't lower it much but from the posts I've seen they do. Thoughts?
Avatar m tn I am on four medications: Bystolic (40 mg / day), Hytrin (12 mg / day), Benicar (40 mg /day), and Clonidine (2 / day). I started only on Inderal 20 years ago to control mild hypertension and paroxysmal tachycardia. History of possible Lyme Disease otherwise nothing remarkable. A year ago I started having wildly fluctuation hypertension (normally 120/70 went to 240/115 in seconds - repeatedly with no pattern, no identifiable triggers).
Avatar m tn I went to the emergency room and nothing was found wrong with my heart except for really high blood pressure (ridiculously high, like 160/95). For the next few days, I noticed that when I lay down, the pain would feel better and that whenever I had any kind of physical exertion, the chest pain became terrible. The chest pain did not come and go. It was always there unless I would lie down (in which case it was still there, but less severe).
Avatar n tn I have a 20% efraction rate recently received a ICD ... Bystolic and diabetic, Hypertension meds... I am tired all the time and have not been given a real idea of prognosis.
Avatar m tn I have been taking bystolic for several years and for me it seems to work much better than atenolol or lopressor, without all the side effects. I have had to up my dosage a couple of times and right at first my stomach will feel a little off and I may get a very slight headache but it goes away quickly.
Avatar f tn These symptoms could be from the Bystolic. Bystolic is not one of the most common drugs used for a long QT. There are other betablockers such as Metroprolol or Bisoprolol that have fewer symptoms. Was your fractured lead removed?
Avatar m tn My doctor suggested bystolic. It has worked very well for the last year, I have been very pleased with it. In fact, I didn't switch my insurance this year because the alternative company did not want to authorize the use of the bystolic (it's a lot more expensive). I have had no side effects to speak of, much less than the atenolol. I would certainly give it a shot.
116881 tn?1189755823 My Dr just took me off of Hyzaar and has put me on 5 mgs of Bystolic per day to control skipped beats and my HBP. Well, the skips are much better but my pressure is still up and my pulse is really low for me -- like in the mid 50's!!! I feel like garbage. I have only been on it for a week. My Dr wants me to stick it out a little longer. So her I am needing take one today for my BP but my pulse is sooooo low. ANyone else on Bystolic? Will this get better?
Avatar n tn Probably so-called secondary hypertension. Hard for me as a patient to guess, but in the setting of high sugar, pheocromocytoma is a possible condition? Other hormonal problems are also possible. Narrow arteries to the kidneys are possible. The first conditions van be ruled out with blood tests. Last one with ultrasound. It is really uncommon that heart diseases or stress cause blood pressure at that level.
1933354 tn?1323362834 I went on Bystolic for rapid beats and I think I'm onto something here regarding my GAD. I feel better! Could this really be the cure? I take half of a 5mg and my heart doesn't race alarming me that I am anxious. Now really smooth and feel much less GAD. If anyone else has had some good results by taking this please let me know.
Avatar f tn I take 20 mg in the morning with 125 mg of magnesium taurate then 5mg of Norvasc for HTN then take 10 mg of by Bystolic at night with 125 mg of magnesium taurate in between I take .5 Xanax in the morning and at night I have not had one PVC in the last three years I feel like a different human being!
Avatar f tn How well are you examined for secondary causes for your hypertension?
Avatar n tn If you have benign palpitations I would stay away. I was switched to bystolic, which has worked well for me where toprol and atenolol didn't.
Avatar m tn I exercise at least 3-4 times a week for 30 minutes on an elliptical or walk at least 2-3 miles. I am about 20-25 pounds overweight, but I have an athletic frame. I have hypertension and my glucose is slightly high at around 110-115. I currently take 2 types of Hypertension medicine. My resting heart rate has always been between 55-65. About 2 months ago I started experiencing an irregular heartbeat only lasting around 30 seconds or so.
Avatar f tn My urine output is definitely decreased. and feel I am still very hypothyroid. Dr. ordered Bystolic a Beta- Blocker for high blood pressure. I have read that Beta Blockers are not good because if hypo. low heart beat already causes problems with kidney filtration and that is what causes the high blood pressure in hypothyroidism. and beta blockers lower heart rate and can cause more problems, as in myxedema. and diuretics cause problems with the kidneys .
Avatar m tn I was put on an event monitor last Month and it was on for 22 days. At the same time, I was put on 100mg Zoloft, 2.5 mg bystolic and Xanax to calm me down. Well, My condition went from maybe 15 a day to 14,400 and it was all recorded on the monitor. The doctor called me and said that I'm having lots of PAC/PVC's and its nothing to worry about. Easy for him to say when i'm thinking I'm about to die.
Avatar n tn ve been on metoprolol before, and had some awful side effects with that one, but the bystolic seems to tame those down quite a bit for me. I've only had two instances in which I could tell I was experiencing some slight side effects (dizziness, slight shortness of breath, pressure). I've also been told by my GP that, if I find myself with a rapid heart rate or back in A-fib, I can take another 2.5mg dose right then, since it's such a small dosage.
Avatar f tn My doc LOVES Bystolic. Both are Selective Betablockers and they say Bystolic has little or no side effect. I would give it a try. I have not used either but have heard very good things about it.
Avatar m tn My Cadiologist Recently prescribed Bystolic 5 Mg tablets I per day . I have since begun having dizzy spells Can they be a side effect from the Bystolic?
Avatar f tn My doctor recently switched me to Bystolic - and I was given "samples" for a month but no instruction sheet or counter-indications as far as drug interaction. Would there be any problem with the above that I am taking and this drug? Also, I just lost (and want to continue to lose weight) 16 pounds on a diet program and don't want to regain that weight! Does Bystolic cause weight gain?
Avatar n tn 122 lbs), but have recently been diagnosed with hypertension and tachycardia (rapid heart rate). Until recently, I always had low-normal blood pressure, but now it is ranging from 130/85-160/110. Also I constantly have a rapid heart rate while at rest, ranging from 110-160 beats per minute. I purchased a home heart and blood pressure monitor, most recent reading was 130/96 with a heart rate of 128 beats per minute.
