Byetta weight loss non diabetic

Common Questions and Answers about Byetta weight loss non diabetic

byetta

Avatar f tn Actually, it is not a pill, but an injection, and yet it is prescribed for weight loss and sugar control. It is called Byetta. Staying away from sugar, carbs and fats is great, and shows a lot of self-control and self-management, which is excellent.
Avatar n tn Are you a type 1 or type 2 diabetic? He is type 2 he started taking a new medication called byetta. You inject in your arm before you meals. My husband has lost 40 lbs in the last 6 months. He just can't eat like he used to since he has been on the byetta. It curves your appetite and apparently helps your body produce it's own insulin. It might be something you want to run by your endo doctor. Let me know.
Avatar n tn As I understand it, Victoza delays gastric emptying thus causing the feeling of fullness and decreased appetite. I actually started on Victoza about 3 months ago. I had to change to Byetta in about 2 weeks (finished Victoza sample and insurance would only pay for Byetta). I developed nausea at the smaller dose of Victoza, and never used the larger dose. The nausea was unchanged with the change of meds.....and I have lost a LOT of weight (29 pounds).

178107 tn?1315947630 I also take the Byetta now. My doc started me on it in March and I too immediately began to lose weight. It also began to regulate my blood sugars, if fact one day my level was so low that the doc reduced one of my meds from 2 pills twice a day to 1 pill twice a day. I must admit though that when I initially started I had to force myself to eat, whereas I was overeating before. I have not experienced the nausea which many say comes with this med.
502219 tn?1311357910 In March while following up on a case of Ludwigs Angina my enhanced CT scan showed.small non pathologically enlarged lymph nodes bilaterally with some inhomogeneity within the thyroid. I hadn't really worried about it until today when I saw a commercial for a law firm warning that the diabetic drug "Byetta" could cause thyroid cancer. I used this med for over a year in 2006 and was taken off because of other complications. Now I'm scared. Should I be?
Avatar n tn Hello =) I'm 34 years old and am about to begin my first cycle with the ovulation drug clomid. I'm a type 2 diabetic, have PCOS, and I have PSVT. I take Byetta, metformin, and metoprolol. I have been working with my Dr. for about 18 months to loose weight (I've lost over 60 lbs), get my blood sugar under control (my last 2 AICs were normal), and get medically ready to have a child. Last week he told us he feels comfortable with my heath for my husband and I to try to get pregnant.
Avatar n tn My husband is a newly diagnosed diabetic and has it under control with Byetta and diet. I have 4 other children ages 5 to 12 that are very thin. For the last 3 years, we have done the following to try and help their weight. Going to the gym before school 3-5 times a week - inlcuding a regular "boot camp class" and running at least a mile every time we go. Enrolling in sports. Snow skiing almost every Saturday and Holiday for the last 3 years.
Avatar f tn Ummm actually it is. 6.8 is Diabetic. of course you can weight untill you go blind OR you can take the bull by the horns and lower your BG by diet ( eating LCHF) and exercise.
Avatar f tn Can a person who is not a diabetic take metformin for weight loss.. I need to loose 60lbs i have tried other prescription's diet pill's and i'am immune to them they work for awhile then nothing.
Avatar n tn I didn't respond to your question. I don't know anything about Byetta.
Avatar f tn My fasting glucose level has increased in the last month. I've been taking my meds as directed and my diet has remained the same. I've been injecting Byetta for nearly two years (twice a day). My husband saw that there is a class action suit against the manufacturer because of side effects, damage to the pancreas. I did some reserch on line and found there are all kinds of side effects, damage to the kidneys, liver and G.I. issues.

Avatar m tn Not a sir....but.....Anything over 100 is considered pre-diabetic. Is there a reason you are suspecting diabetes? Do you have symptoms?
Avatar f tn I am less likely to have a hypoglycemic episode and it even has the benefits of helping with my polycystic ovarian syndrome. A little weight loss is common with the drug also, which won't hurt me either. It can also help lower your LDL cholesterol and lower your triglycerides. Lets hope that the drug does all that it claims. It would be helpful to me in several ways.
Avatar m tn Besides Victoza there are two other injectable medications which are not insulin.Only your doctor should recommend medications not strangers on an Internet forum. Talk with him/her to see what medication is best suited to your needs.
Avatar f tn This is advisable for non diabetic patients. Consuming 2 tea spoon of honey with a glass of herbal tea which includes weight reducing herbs help a lot in weight reduction. Honey along with these herbs scrapes and dissolves the Kapha and medha (body fat). 5. Sleeping for less hours. Avoiding sleeping in afternoons help to increase the burning of calories. This avoids slowing of basal metabolic rate. 6. Avoiding the food and beverages which increase kapha and medha.
Avatar f tn so i know this is not quit the same as others on this forum but i do have a weight issue as well that is concerning to me. In the past year i have lost an excessive amount of weight with out needing to do so. i am now almost 30 lbs under weight. at my lowest point i was 93 lbs. i am not anerexic or bulemic i just cannot gain the weight in need to to be healthy again.
Avatar f tn She placed me on Byetta for my Diabetes because it supposedly helps with weight loss. I have to get my nerve up to inject myself. I have never done that. But she listened to me and she asked questions. There was another dr there since it is a training hospital. Between the two of them I think they covered about everything. My question today is what is the treatment for cortisol levels. I am just now looking into what this is and what to do about it.
Avatar m tn Yes. Absolutely. Totally non-diabetic numbers don't rise very far from and rapidly return to fasting numbers. Congratulations on your weight loss, lower carb and exercise efforts. You have reversed your higher numbers. Keep it up.
Avatar n tn The cut off is usually about 6.1, but ideal in non-diabetic is about 4.7. have you dicussed management wirh your doctor. you need to jog more frequenltly, not just on the weekend. diet - you need to read up on diabetic and lower carb diets and follow it. Slimfast is 1 approach to losing weight, but it is not developing good and sustainable eating habits. Also recommend you buy a blood sugar monitor and start testing regularly. hope this helps. best wishes.
