Avatar f tn It is entirely possible, however, for humans to develop the high grade cancer and for dogs to develop the low grade cancer. I wouldn't be ready to give up or give in until any tests that would determine which type your dog has have been done. Please keep us up to date on how he is doing.
Avatar m tn Of course, your dog will need to use it for the rest of her life because as soon as you stop using it the lacrimal gland will stop working again, however you can buy an awful lot of Optimmune for the cost of having that surgery on both eyes, and the surgery is not without its problems either. In Parotid Duct Transposition surgery, the parotid duct that carries saliva to the mouth is re-routed to deposit the saliva in the eye instead.
Avatar m tn s biopsy and lab numbers clearly show him heading down the road to fibrosis and cirrohsis, would it make sense to push for trying the new drugs at least the approved ones for non-transplant such as teleprevir and bocepavir? Otherwise the patient is looking at another transplant which would seem to be quite a negative option.
Avatar m tn i wouldnt lower the tacrolimus dose further
274158 tn?1276347187 Not towards me. Just other dogs......I thought he was showing aggression towards my daughter, but he was just trying to sniff her crotch! He is gross! I guess that's what dogs do! But, no agression towards us humans, just dogs, which isn't fun....
Avatar m tn Dogs can go for a good amount of time without food but not water so good that she is drinking. I have never read a specific time but we have all heard stories of dogs going weeks without food. Of course, they end up in poor condition. I am sure a lot depends on the overall health of the dog to begin with. What have you tried feeding her? You might try some boiled chicken (no skin) and rice a few smaller meals given a day.
212161 tn?1599427282 The dogs that are being sold as "teacup" dogs are, for the most part, simply the runts of litters of normal-sized representatives of their breeds. There are always unscrupulous people who will try to make a buck off something just because they can, and the "teacup" dog scam is probably one of the most profitable. Many teacup dogs have heart defects or other problems, and the worst problems come when money hungry people try to use teacup dogs to produce litters of puppies.
851294 tn?1239015716 I'm really glad to hear that everything is fine and you've got your boy back on an even keel. The maple syrup was a good idea. Quick thinking! :) Honey is a good thing to keep around for just that sort of emergency, and because it's so thick and gooey, it's a lot harder for them to aspirate it. Keeping it in the fridge firms it up even more and makes it easier to scoop some up on a tongue depressor and smear it onto his tongue.
Avatar m tn The specialist reviewed all of the options with us - cyclosporine, pilocarpine or tacrolimus with sirolimus. She said that very rarely has she seen any dog respond to cyclosporine after not responding to tacrolimus. She also said that because our dog doesn't have a dry, goopy nose, that pilocarpine wouldn't be a first choice. She recommended a mix of tacrolimus with sirolimus. She said sirolimus is new. I have not been able to find anything about this drug on the internet.
Avatar m tn I was a bit put off by the price at first (the optho wanted $2400 for just the one eye, and still a lifetime of tacrolimus for the right). I live in Canada and our vets are for some reason way over priced. I did find one in Michigan that is able to do the surgery for $920. I've gone to see them and they seem competent, doing about 1 of these surgeries per month. Apparently it's quite common. They did give me some interesting info that her regular optho never bothered to share with me.
Avatar n tn I have heard many different things about glucosamine for dogs . That is is okay for your dogs, and also that it isn't. There can be many benefits to providing supplements for your dog. It can help them remain healthy and with that even happier. No one likes to deal with a grumpy dog. Can you tell me where I could find more information about glucosamine for dogs though?
Avatar m tn Hi Loren! I worked with dogs in clinics for 10 years, and there isn't much I haven't seen, behavior-wise. By a long shot, my favorite is the Golden Retreiver. Research good breeders, ask for vet-info on the parents of the puppy, and even better if the pup is papered - that shows a breeder's good-standing with the AKC, even if you never show the dog. When you go to se/pick up your pup for the first time, LOOK at the property - is it well-kept?
Avatar f tn Sorry for the eye problem, our Westie has dry eyes that I treat with the same stuff that doesn't work for you. Given the cost of the stuff ($35 for a month supply, very small tube) I'd not use it for years if it didn't give results. We were told twice a day for the life of the dog, the med treats only the symptom, not the cause. I generally use only one a day and twice if I see any mucus formation.
461838 tn?1255790216 Was only supposed to take it for 10 days for gout, but a careless Kaiser doctor had me on for 30 days. Man, it turned me into a first-class *****!
Avatar n tn Not so sure about tacrolimus. Look at the law offices looking for people treated with tacrolimus creams. Still some concern out there about serious side effects. Don't forsee approval anytime soon in U.S. As a side note, have your doctor look for demodex follicularis. Some research indicates that they can worsen lid margin disease.
Avatar f tn I had my first session of laser hair removal for lower legs yesterday and after a few hours my legs started itching. The itch was so bad that I couldn't help not to scratch them and today I noticed red spots all over my lower legs. The red spots look like rash and are itchy. I'm worried that the laser might have burned my skin. Dose anybody knows if this is normal or I should stop laser hair removal treatment?

Avatar n tn Morning....We're gonna start with your food...The key to health is proper nutrition....Your dog cannot fight off anything (Including allergies) if he continues to live on this food! He must have better (Alot better) food or he will continue to go downhill. First of all: ZD can only be used for a short period of time.....It's stated on the bag that it is intended for only short term use as it DOES NOT have the proper nutrition for a dog! IMO, 1 wk.
Avatar n tn there are prograf assistance programs that the company offers. If this is not feasible than using other cheaper medications such as verapamil for example for HTN for example will alllow much lower doses of prograf to be used (it delays metabolism of the medication) and thus it comes out cheaper.
Avatar f tn She just has been very protective over me but she is interested in everything I buy for the baby and even licks my tummy! She has also been like glue with me around the house. Lol I read to let them smell something that the baby had worn first and then to introduce them. If you raised them right, you will be just fine!
