Avatar f tn (let me apologize in advance if this msg is jumbled, confusing, and my grammar is poor... some of my family members think the TV should be loud enough so the people in the house beside us can hear it) Hi everyone. I'm new to the website but thought it may be a great place to ask my question. Okay, so here's the situation. 8 years ago while crossing the street I was struck by a car driven by a drunk driver.
Avatar f tn I never returned to this site after the second posting because I found a fantastic group on Facebook called broken ankle/foot/leg recovery -on a quest for normal which was a godsend to me and still is. If you are still out there and want to connect with a great group going through the same things as you and you are on fb, find us and request admission, its a closed group. Hope you are doing well. I am just weaning out of boot into shoes....
1542537 tn?1293207098 Hi, broken bones take a varying amount of time to heal, mostly depending upon the type of bone broken, the age of the person, and the way in which the bone is broken. Larger broken bones, for example the bones in the thigh, or both bones of leg would take a great deal longer to heal, usually six weeks to three months in the average healthy adult. Begin physical therapy as soon as is practical. That will help.
Avatar f tn Why have I still got numbness in foot/ankle and leg 5 months after second lower lumber discetomy with nerve pain, though not as severe as before op
Avatar m tn I have undiagnosed nervous system disorder and I get this actually but more in the groin, and down my left leg, numbness and not being able to tell if someone touches my leg or not. It certainly could be the after affects of the accident it will take a long time for all the nerves to heal, and it oculd be the results of the brain hemoraghe or just that the accident has caused some spinal cord trauma.
Avatar n tn It is advisable to wear shoes with a bit large size for toes to be able to move, shoes should have shock absorber soles. Special padding in shoes can be used to relieve pain. Orthotic devices in your shoes can also be helpful to relieve pain and prevent condition from worsening. If the problem is unbearable then you can easily undergo a surgical removal of neuroma in out-patient basis and a few weeks of rest and pain management medicines can make you fine. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn m in a restaurant or at a friends house I always elevate my leg. Elevation is the key to a speedy recovery. Hope this helps.

Avatar f tn When I was born they made me these special corrective shoes that fit my feet. The shoes had a bar that attached between the shoes when i slept. My parents say i kept them up at night bc i would bang the bar against the side of my crib. By the time i was two things were fine and i learned to walk like any normal kid. However i could not do the breaststroke kick correctly until i was about 12, my feet wanted to turn in instead of out.
Avatar m tn so my docter did surgery one year later, he took the nail out of my leg and replaced it with a plate and and screws, during surgery he broke my fibula to get the plate in place. i dont no why he did it but my tibia feels alot better and now my fibula is broken, my question is has anyone ever had a corrective surgery on there tibia and had there fibula broken. And how long does it take for the fib to heal and am i screwed ? i dont know what to do.
Avatar n tn The stroke has impacted her left side (her arm and leg). She is now in rehab. She is still has a hard time standing up. We would like to know whether she can ever walk again.
Avatar f tn I did hours and hours of research on nerve damage, foot drop, and recovery when I first found out that my leg was damaged. There is a lot of mixed information. One thing I know, my nerves continue to heal....in the last few months, I've regained the ability to wiggle my toes. Its been 7 years and I'm still improving. So don't let the Dr tell you that there's a time limit or that you shouldn't expect much. Do whatever you can to get moving.
3763041 tn?1354906251 It'll be fine, I've broken most of my fingers and toes. Just tape it to the next toe.
Avatar n tn Hi, about a month ago I noticed a pink-red patch on my right foot, right about the place where I tie my shoes. It is romboidal in size, with diagonals of 1cm and 6 -7 mm. The color is uniform, something between pink and red(or light red, if you prefer). It does not itch, does not hurt and it is not elevated. If I apply pressure on it, the color goes away and it comes back when I release the pressure. I do not think it increased in size, it seems about the same as the first time I noticed it.
Avatar m tn t need surgery and my bone was repositioned and i was put in a cast. I had my sixteenth birthday with a cast on my right leg and i have had to cancel my driving test as i can't drive with a cast on. I will be with a full walking cast for another 2 weeks (its been 5) and then i will have a short walking cast for another 3 weeks. How long after that can i drive again and also how long until i play soccer. I will be going to physical therapy.
8924846 tn?1410572901 I also had a lot of leg cramps at work where I stood and walked around for 8 hours + daily my doctor suggested a change of shoes from my kitchen shoes to actual running shoes with support inserts, she also gave me a note for a stool but because it would cause a hazardous work environment I got my hours cut 100% I'm still technically employed but I haven't worked in 3 months
Avatar n tn The standard response is that the brain cells that were just knocked unconscious usually come back in six months. The recovery of functions that were controlled by the now dead brain cells will require your brain to work on neuroplasticity, basically moving control to another part of your brain. That change can take a long time, I have heard of cases 15-20 years after a stroke and recovery can still take place.
700100 tn?1228243591 I injured my coccyx in July while playing ultimate frisbee and went to a Sports Medicine Doctor. The x-ray revealed a broken coccyx. It has been an extremely painful recovery. I followed the doctors orders, rest, heat, donut pillow, comfortable shoes. After 2 visits to the doctor I continue to have pain, is this normal after 4 months? When I wake up in the morning it is the worst and I have to sit leaning forward in order to not roll back on my coccyx because it hurts.

1543547 tn?1298433360 She was almost trying to talk me into staying on the percs saying even tho im in recovery and what not i dont deserve being in this pain. While I agree with that I told her my recovery and clean time means more to me than dealing with the pain. I had a good session with my addiction therapist today and she seems to think I am punishing myself by doing this. Maybe. Maybe not. But I told her i believe in karma and mine is showing itself.
Avatar m tn My 6 yr old female cat jumped from a tree branch about 5 ft high. She is always jumping up onto ledges or down from them, she jumps very high, always climbing trees, etc. Anyway, her front paw is now swollen and she will not walk on it, she limps all around. She does not seem to be in pain, she still goes up and down the steps and jumps on and off the furniture and beds, going to the food dish etc.
